Well done to this docter for standing up for himself.

He's also showing contempt for his colleagues - those whose area of expertise, unlike his, is in virology, immunology, and other specialisms related to Covid and the vaccines. He's basically saying he doesn't respect or trust their expert knowledge.

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 19:53

So, little regard for highly vulnerable patients. And definitely not a team player.

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 20:00

@Nappyvalley15
With younger children, I think it's worth giving parents the choice. Once we have extra supply of the relevant vaccine, I hope they'll be offered the choice as in other countries.

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 20:02

One mother was recently in the papers. She travelled to Italy to get her CV child vaccinated. Her dc has Italian citizenship but, like she said when interviewed, she's aware most children here won't have the option hers did.

Even the experts get things wrong though. It's a changing situation and knowledge of Covid and the vaccines are evolving all the time. Just a few months ago nobody could even mention natural immunity without getting shouted down and now finally it's starting to get some recognition. Experts had us all scrubbing our shopping at the start of this pandemic & taping off benches so let's not pretend they're infallible. Also, why you think hospitals will be safer when we remove highly qualified and trained members of staff from them is beyond me!
Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 20:13

Like you say we're learning as we go along with this still new disease. Including on how effective (or not) natural immunity is against a possibly non natural originated virus, and of course mutations.

And for a while now research has suggested that vaccines offer much stronger protection than natural immunity. As you can read in the CDC link I put up a couple of posts ago. Reposted below for your convenience.

Emerging evidence shows that getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 infection provides added protection to your immune system. One study showed that, for people who already had COVID-19, those who do not get vaccinated after their recovery are more than 2 times as likely to get COVID-19 again than those who get fully vaccinated after their recovery.

Translation: Does not shut up and do what he’s told.
howdiditcometothis666 · 08/01/2022 20:36

@Tealightsandd That one study in the link was done in May and June so now outdated by Omicron which has shown vaccines less effective. The "emerging evidence " was also pre Omicron.

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 20:39

No.

Correct translation. Does not have respect for his colleagues specialist knowledge relating to their area of expertise. It would be the same if a virologist decided to ignore his expert anesthesia knowledge.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 08/01/2022 20:43

The efficacy of the vaccines diminish over time, are the NHS going to continue to sack anyone who hasn't had a covid vaccine within the last 3-6 months ??

nojudgementhere · 08/01/2022 20:43

@Tealightsandd - The CDC can't really be considered impartial though can they? Article attached detailing the very large sums of money they receive from Big Pharma.

Agree. I think the mandatory vaccination had much more sense before the omicron took over. The most recent research has shown that omicron escapes both natural and vaccine induces immunity, so the mandate doesn't make sense, especially taking into account the NHS is already understaffed. Mandatory testing would make much more sense and be a logical move in this situation.

Flyonawalk · 08/01/2022 21:07

I am surprised that some posters believe the doctor was speaking out of turn. He has almost certainly been authorised to speak by his superiors, with the support of many colleagues.

Far from Javid being taken by surprise, to me the meeting appeared staged. Perhaps the government will use the current publicity as a starting point for retraction of the vaccine mandates for NHS staff.

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/01/2022 21:32

Javid does come across as a stubborn, ignorant bell.

I think it's more likely to be government incompetence rather than some clever planned manovere. Javid was totally unprepared for it.

King's have been very careful to distance themselves & advise vaccination:

All I can say is this - I’m deeply embarrassed that I share a job title with that guy on the news today.

Out of all the events of the last two years, seeing a ‘colleague’ publicly spreading gibberish has probably got me the most enraged

InCahootswithOrwell · 08/01/2022 23:24

I wouldn’t want to be accused of casting aspersions about his character again, but:

Well if he felt that way - he would have taken it himself then wouldn’t he!

What’s actually wrong with this?
It just looks like he takes a holistic and personal approach for therapy or treatment for his patients.
Many medics work for the nhs and privately.
Most of his private patients are probably covered by health insurance for his private work.

milkyaqua · 09/01/2022 01:50

I think this deserves repeating:

Imagine being an anaesthetist claiming the "evidence wasn't strong enough" to support COVID vaccinations, yet having a side hustle in wellness and detox wank?

twitter.com/Microbedoc2/status/1479603102437285889

Thievesoil · 09/01/2022 08:02

“Wellness and detox wank”?!

This is an extraordinary statement. I actually think it’s amazing that some doctors are recognising the importance of nutrition and fitness to overall health, it’s been a long time coming!

There is actually evidence for basics like levels of vitamin D, zinc, selenium and C and others in relation to covid - and other infections. It’s NEVER mentioned

We also now know covid is much more serious for the obese. It is NEVER discussed in terms of reducing risk

That this doctors has noticed this and is on that sphere is somehow a bad thing?!

Flyonawalk · 09/01/2022 08:41

@Thievesoil I thought exactly the same!

Whatever our views on vaccination, it must be awful for his current patients and families having the person in charge of their care caught up in a national scandal. Patients don't have a choice and his colleagues will be left to pick-up the pieces adding to what is already a difficult time.

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 08:57

It’s not a scandal

Kings is the hospital we’ve used, I hope it’s changed before he and others are made to leave.

Beachcomber · 09/01/2022 09:03

Having watched the video, he made his point very well. The health minister didn't have any actual argument against it.
