6th period of Covid isolation for Sir Kier Starner.I wonder if he has just been incredibly unlucky, or been rather reckless? He's had Covid twice and isolated following contact with infected individuals 4 times.

Does anyone else find it odd?

No. What are you trying to say?

WorraLiberty · 05/01/2022 22:01

No, do you blame every victim of a virus or just anyone in government?

WeAreTheHeroes · 05/01/2022 22:02

No. He's actually following the law, whereas the PM....

SushiGo · 05/01/2022 22:03

No? It's been 21 months. Being I contact with someone every few months is hardly unusual in a pandemic.

QueenJeanie · 05/01/2022 22:03

He's tested positive twice. I guess it shows he's testing regularly.

Boris, is that you?
sashagabadon · 05/01/2022 22:04

Must be much more than the average person surely. Very unlucky I guess.

His wife works for NHS and he has 2 kids so before guidance changed there would been lots of stay at homes just in case isolations. To be honest with HoC wonder more people aren’t off more. Boris must met hundreds of people a week.

Overdon · 05/01/2022 22:06

I've never heard of anyone having to isolate 6 times, it is unusual surely?

Or maybe it isn't in London/large cities? I must admit I have wondered if he has an underlying health condition.

I've isolated multiple times. My children even more. It's probably less usual to have only isolated once, or twice.

plinkplinkfizzer · 05/01/2022 22:07

No I don't find it odd , what I do find odd is that the PM who travels around the country meeting so many people day in and out has isolated so few times Hmm

ToManySnacks · 05/01/2022 22:07

What is odd?

He was a close contact 4 times and had it twice.

Whats weird?

Theunamedcat · 05/01/2022 22:08

My son was bounced out of school a lot for being in close contact last year then when the rules changed he had to test for ten days consecutive and have a pcr test younger son (primary) was pcr tested 3 times in November and December through school close contact and once just after Christmas because I caught covid and he tested positive too on a lateral flow

Considering they were at school or at home in November and December that's a lot of tests

He has caught covid twice. That’s not uncommon.

I can’t remember if he’s had symptoms before but then tested negative or if he’s been a contact.

Criticising someone for doing the right thing and following the rules is pretty poor. I guess you prefer the Boris Johnson tactics of ignoring the rules and putting others at risk.

ToManySnacks · 05/01/2022 22:11

Considering his job, his wife being NHS and he has children in school

6 isn't many times i dont think…

Not sure how Boris hasnt had to isolate more tbh
I dont think Boris is doing tests as he should be, and hasnt followed the guidelines that we have all been made to follow

CeleriacOfTheNight · 05/01/2022 22:12

Lots of people have had Covid more than once, and contact isolations have been fairly standard to folks with kids in school, who work with the public or just in large workplaces.

I doubt he's in the nightclubs three times a week or goes round licking stair rails

Headingnorthwoste · 05/01/2022 22:12

I know someone who worked in Labour HQ. They said Kier has insisted on f2f meetings throughout Covid, he prefers f2f to Zoom. Has asked MPs to attend meetings which they preferred to do on Zoom.

Has been a big bone of contention apparently.

I must say at this point I neither vote Labour or Conservative so don’t have a horse in either race. I’m just not surprised he’s been exposed to Covid so many times!

Headingnorthwoste · 05/01/2022 22:13

*horse in the race (singular!)

summertimerolls · 05/01/2022 22:14

You know his name is Keir don't you?

SomebodysMum · 05/01/2022 22:14

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve had to isolate but it’s definitely more than 6. IME. not unusual at all.

Ah, the old "I know someone who"

Almost always bullshit

And often libellous

Overdon · 05/01/2022 22:15

@Akire yes I can imagine HOC being a bit of petra dish..especially with all those bars they have!

Didn't know his wife worked in the NHS

OP posts:
eurochick · 05/01/2022 22:16

He has kids in school.

His job involves more mixing than most, even if he can't be shaking hands and kissing babies at the moment.

I don't think it's that surprising.

Headingnorthwoste · 05/01/2022 22:18

@QueenJeanie Yep one of my best friends was in his team. What’s so strange about that? Anyway whatever. Just saying it’s no surprise to me, that’s all!
