Just seen on Sky New there is a news conference tonight at 5, interested to know what will be said...

There hasn’t been the usual rumblings “leaked documents” etc so hopeful just an update, what do we all think?

I think they will talk about moving staff, masks ,boosters etc but nothing new.

ItsSnowJokes · 04/01/2022 13:40

No restrictions. They haven't "leaked" them to get the public response, which they always do.

This will be a its going to be tough, but keep up the good work bollocks that they spout.

LumosSolem · 04/01/2022 13:40

I don't think new restrictions are coming, definitely not today.

Probably more booster talk, face masks in secondaries, staff shortages etc.

deeplybaffled · 04/01/2022 13:40

5pm is usually an update, 8pm is usually for serious restrictions, I think

dreamingbohemian · 04/01/2022 13:40

I think it will be a load of waffling and nonsense

They are clearly not interested in bringing in any new restrictions, they will expect everyone to just muddle through

AnguaResurgam · 04/01/2022 13:40

Going by what The Telegraph is saying, it'll be a 'Plan B is working' despite all the critical incidents being declared all over the country.

CorrBlimeyGG · 04/01/2022 13:41

Masks, army, blitz spirit, booster, booster, army...

Same shit different day.

GirlInACountrySong · 04/01/2022 13:41

hadn't heard this on todays news but did hear how hospitals are in a bad way...so possibly restrictions

bloody hope not though....2022 feels quite hopeful so far!

SagittariusDwarf · 04/01/2022 13:42

*Boris.

chocolateisavegetable · 04/01/2022 13:42

I expect he wants to show us a video of the 1000s of ex-teachers turning up to help out

IcedPurple · 04/01/2022 13:43

If it's at 5 rather than at 8 I would say new restrictions are unlikely.

Also, there haven't been any of the usual hints or 'leaks' to that effect.

Lifeisnteasy · 04/01/2022 13:43

Hopefully not. Hopefully they’re cutting isolation time.

CarpeVitam · 04/01/2022 13:43

It will be the usual waffle waffle, blah blah....,stay at home it you can but you must go to work 🙄

SouthOfFrance · 04/01/2022 13:44

Moving the self isolation period to 5 days instead of 7?

I recon more of an update than anything major though

Newyearnewme2022 · 04/01/2022 13:45

It’s just been reported that 6 hospitals are in a bad way, it’s worrying what the next few weeks will bring if you need hospital care for any reason.
I don’t think there will be any new restrictions.

Motorina · 04/01/2022 13:46

"Blah blah" ruffle hair "blah blitz spirit. Glorious NHS ... booster programme success! Get your booster, go to work, stay home, at work, blah. Schools, resilience, flexibility, glorious education, blah." Ruffle hair.

VikingOnTheFridge · 04/01/2022 13:47

Wouldn't have thought so, maybe a bit of fulminating about sticking with the current ones. He still doesn't have the support from his party to do much.

TawnyPippit · 04/01/2022 13:49

Anyone heard anything about doing away with the need for LFTs before coming into the country? It was trailed in the press on Sat/Sun but now seems to have gone quiet. The prediction was that that requirement would go - its rationale was to stop omicron coming into the UK - but day 2 PCR requirement would stay. 🤔

NightmareSlashDelightful · 04/01/2022 13:51

This would be sensible I think.

Which means they almost certainly won't do it.

Whilst bullfrogging about crisis in the NHS, schools, scaffies etc etc.

refraction · 04/01/2022 13:55

Agree that it will just be a load of waffle or cutting the isolating period for ill people.

Standard.

I believe it was due to be reviewed tomorrow
MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2022 14:01

No re restrictions

Plus previous reduction to isolation was via news iirc not conference, although I’d be pleased if so

Not sure what it will be really

Review of plan b is tomorrow

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 04/01/2022 14:03

he can't do anything as he can't get it past his back benchers.

PeaceONoeuf · 04/01/2022 14:03

Just another opportunity for him to showcase any new long words he’s learned over the Christmas period I expect.

2389Champ · 04/01/2022 14:03

Agreed.

I suspect we’ll be following France and USA - because of workforce shortages - in reducing isolation period to 5 days dependent on negative LFT.

If it’s not announced tonight, it almost certainly will be in the next week. Every single person I know who has had Covid (presumably Omicron) since the beginning of December has been absolutely fine apart from mild sniffles and, apart from the infectiousness, would have perfectly capable of continuing to work.
