Has anyone NOT had Covid?

I feel myself and family are the only people on earth that hasn't had Covid, everyone I know has had it!

OP posts:
IncompleteSenten · 31/12/2021 12:37

I bet far more people have had it than the reports say because they don't tell you how many have had it, just how many have tested and got a positive test.
Considering it turns out a lot of the time you are asymptomatic, plus people who have symptoms but won't have a test, I expect the actual number of people who have had it is far higher. It would be great if most people didn't get sick with it. Be better if nobody did of course but we're never going to have that.

minimecantrollerskate · 31/12/2021 12:37

I haven't had it and neither of my parents, but we are shielders due to being CEV so are not out and about as much as some people are. I work from home in a busy job full time and get all shopping delivered, although I do get out a little but , it's not every week.

My brother and his family have all had it.

sanityisamyth · 31/12/2021 12:38

Not that I know of, unless it was covid I had over Xmas 2018 as I have never felt more I'll, feverish and breathless.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 31/12/2021 12:40

Seem to have avoided it here too. Although I have a few family members that have had it recently, including SiL and unfortunately it was the thing that ended my grandads life early October (but he was frail and had other conditions, covid was just the final thing)

I feel fortunate because I work in a school and ds is at nursery, so two hotbeds...

Wreath21 · 31/12/2021 12:40

It's been one of the oddities about the whole pandemic - this disease is TERRIBLE and DEADLY (yes, it clearly is dangerous to many people, as are flu, pneumonia etc) but, at the same time, you can have it without even noticing.
It's an awfully convenient disease for dangerous authoritarians and gangsters - and meddlesome whiners: every way you turn, someone is scolding you for doing the 'wrong' thing.
I don't think that Covid is a hoax, nor do I think it was deliberately unleashed. But, unfortunately, all the opportunists and crooks who were already up to bad things (Brexit etc) have found it very advantageous.

Munchyseeds · 31/12/2021 12:44

We haven't yet although it seems to be getting closer!
I'm sure we will get it eventually

Crimeismymiddlename · 31/12/2021 12:45

Not me, none of my family ether. Use public transport everyday and work in retail. I do live alone, and think this is a big factor in not catching it. However I have also been very privileged in that I rarely get colds or virus’s anyway.

VoyageInTheDark · 31/12/2021 12:50

Haven't had it yet. DD is in preschool so I feel like it's gonna happen soon. Probably as soon as term starts.

ringoutthebells · 31/12/2021 13:18

Not had it that I'm aware of. Same with DH & DD. Not really testing admittedly, but that's because I haven't had symptoms. Dh and dd have tested a little more but all negative. I didn't really know anyone who had had it until the last 6 months though, but it's definitely felt closer in recent months!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 31/12/2021 13:25

@Wreath21 because I am also very anxious about the potential side effects from the vaccine. I would wind myself up into such a state several times a week, and end up crying with anxiety about whether I get it or not. But at the moment, especially with Omicron being so mild I am much more confident in my decision not to have the vaccine. I don't have anything against people that choose to get it. But that's it - it's their own personal choice. I just find that with so many side effects the whole thing is incredibly scary for me. Unless you're in someone's shoes like mine I feel like most people just do not understand or jump to ridiculous and often cruel convulsions about people who chose not to vaccinate with this one. I'm not an antivaxer. I've had all my vaccines. My children have had all their vaccines. Just not this one.

Nobody in my household has fallen yet, miraculously. Ds is in secondary school and has avoided a lot of COVID around him. I work with small children in a primary school setting. 🤷‍♀️ We've been extraordinarily lucky. Who knows what the New Year will bring though.

rooarsome · 31/12/2021 13:47

I haven't had it. DD had it before Christmas, but in our household of 5 she was the only one!

HeyupitsChristmas · 31/12/2021 14:00

DH and I are double vaxxed and boosted, and do regular LFT tests. DH does twice weekly PCR and all negative.

DD had it in November and we expected to come down with it, but we were fine.

Sportslady44 · 31/12/2021 14:15

Touch wood no.

Wreath21 · 31/12/2021 14:18

I do wonder if some of those who 'haven't had it' did in fact have it but with no symptoms and therefore won't get it again, at least for a while.

Emilyontmoor · 31/12/2021 15:49

It makes sense that families might share the same experience of Covid since they have now established that part of the explanation for that experience is genetic. As a result of having a positive antibody test having had no symptoms I was asked to give my DNA to a study into the possible, now confirmed, role particles on your DNA might play in whether you get Covid mildly or severely . Taking into account all the other possible factors that lead to people being susceptible there was still a gap in understanding and they have identified that your DNA is a significant factor. My family have all experienced it mildly in spite of other health issues such as respiratory weakness, diabetes and being immune compromised. One family member has spent hours sitting next to people who later tested positive, including spending a weekend partying, and has never had symptoms.

I’d be very wary about assuming it is because you have a strong immune system though, mine is actually measurably rubbish!

MindTheChristmasGap · 31/12/2021 15:53

Yes, just waiting our turn.

RollaCola84 · 31/12/2021 15:54

Nope, and neither has Mr Rolla or any of our parents, neither of us have siblings so that's it for immediate family.

From all my friends and colleagues I only know about 8 people who've definitely had it, another half a dozen who probably had it right at the beginning before widespread testing was available.

Drinkyourweaklemondrink · 31/12/2021 15:54

I haven't and neither has my 10 year old daughter. (Touch wood)
I worked in a job that had 150 cases testing positive in 10 days last Christmas.
My husband had it at the start of December and I did not catch it.
My daughters class had an outbreak also at the time with 19 out of 30 catching it

MindTheChristmasGap · 31/12/2021 15:54

As I. We aren't shielding. Having said that we aren't in the pub every evening either.

XenoBitch · 31/12/2021 15:54

Not that I know of.

ivehadenough1998 · 31/12/2021 15:58

Me and none of my 5 children have had it x

CaptainChannel · 31/12/2021 15:59

Me, DH and both DC haven't had it.
I'm a secondary teacher, was teaching in a room where the window couldn't open with classes of 30+ every day. 26 out of my 30 tutees got it and I never tested positive on a lft or a pcr.
Half of DDs class got it including her two best friends who she plays with closely every day. Still no positive lft or pcr.
We either have very good immunity or we will get it soon.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 31/12/2021 16:04

DH had it but DS and I avoided it. In my wider family, only my Mum and step dad had it

Emilyontmoor · 31/12/2021 16:04

Captaincharcoal We either have very good immunity or we will get it soon. Or lucky genes - see my post above.
