Has anyone NOT had Covid?

I feel myself and family are the only people on earth that hasn't had Covid, everyone I know has had it!

I haven't and nor has anyone in my immediate family. All the adults are fully vaccinated/boosted, but I work in hospital (not much direct contact with known Covid patients though), DS1 is at school and DS2 at nursery so I'm a bit surprised nobody has had it yet! Loads of friends and colleagues have though.

Despite all the foaming doom-mongering, it is not at all unfeasible that a small percentage of people would be naturally immune to this virus. Human biochemistry is very variable (though not, obviously, so variable that people should rely on natural immunity rather than vaccination).
I haven't had it yet despite being very determined to go out and about as much as possible (because there are dangers other than Covid. Like poverty, and the increasing restrictions on public space.)

Right now I have a bit of a cold. I have had several clear tests (luckily got hold of a couple of packs of LFTs just before Xmas) and therefore am comfortable that I have a cold rather than Covid. Still wearing a mask in enclosed spaces and opening windows, of course, but comfortable with the fact that it's just a cold.

DockOTheBay · 31/12/2021 03:23

I haven't had it, nor have my husband, parents, brother and sisters, any of our 8 grandparents, my aunts, uncles and cousins, my daughter's friends and their parents (at least the ones I'm close enough to speak to about that sort of thing, which is quite a few)

Most people I know haven't had it, although I guess they could have been asymptomatic. My kids have had it very mildly.

There have been about 13 million cases documented so broadly speaking about 50 million people in the country haven't had it. Of course there are those who aren't tested for whatever reason, but also those who get it more than one so overall that's a pretty good ballpark figure.

caringcarer · 31/12/2021 03:25

I have not had it, nor DH or any of my 3 DC, 2 living at home and 1 away, nor dfc who lives with us nor 2dgc who live away with my dd. DH and 1 triple vaxed. 1 DS triple vaxed, ds2 and DD double vaxed and DFS single Vax due to age. We are in Midlands and very careful.

generalh · 31/12/2021 03:28

My husband and I haven't knowingly had Covid. I work in a school so am surprised.

Siwa · 31/12/2021 03:32

I have not had it, but had a more deadly strain of a natural SARS from a decade ago, which made me sick for 3-4 days. They found place and bats where it originated from. Surprisingly, they never did that with Covid-19. Confused

ShottaSheriff · 31/12/2021 03:37

We haven’t officially had it, but did think we might have done early on. I had a close contact who was one of the earliest cases when they were still testing all indivuals and there were less than 100 known cases in the country.

In the last couple of months it feels like a significant proportion of my friends and family have been affected - more recently hearing about entire families having it, whereas a month or two ago it would be one person in a family affected but others avoiding it.

We’ve been for several PCR tests, all negative, but now I’ve heard of so many people testing negative for their initial PCR but then go for a second which is positive, that again I’m wondering whether one of those Illnesses was in fact Covid.

Either way, right now it feels like it’s simply a matter of time until we get it. We’ve seen lots of family over Christmas, and even if we do catch it from mixing, it will have been worth it.

BigButtons · 31/12/2021 03:43

Not me or any of my immediate family. I am a teacher, dp nhs. I have had a couple of nasty colds since September but lft and PCR always negative. Colleagues I work closely with went down with it over Christmas and it’s working its merry way through my primary school. I have also just spent three days in the shops and pubs of central London.

Rangoon · 31/12/2021 04:00

I haven't but I'm a New Zealander. I don't know anybody who has had it. Nearly 92% of the population is vaccinated and 95% of my city is vaccinated. It is coming down the country though and we seem to have let omicron in because somebody broke quarantine early. I imagine the person will be the object of complete scorn by anybody who knows him. We are getting booster shots in January but that's because we started vaccinating quite late so haven't had long enough to need booster shots yet. I can't quite understand why the UK has such a low vaccination rate - I remember the threads poking fun at NZ when we eventually did get community covid and people saying we wouldn't get vaccinated in time but obviously we did. Basically without a vaccine passport you can't go to a gym, restaurant, bar, hairdresser etc and many employees are required to be vaccinated by their employers, particularly government.

AlistairCamel · 31/12/2021 04:05

Five of us here, three different education/childcare settings, DH who has worked throughout the pandemic and none of us have got it. Same goes for extended family although some of them suspect they had it Jan/Feb 2020.

Lulu1919 · 31/12/2021 04:58

Not had it
Worked with children all through lockdowns too

AstroBunny · 31/12/2021 05:06

None of my family or extended family. None of DH’s or my close friends. Live rurally and out of five houses, two families have had it, one is a hospital consultant

vodkaredbullgirl · 31/12/2021 05:12

I've not had it, only my niece. Residents have had it so have staff, only 3 of us have not had it.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 31/12/2021 05:16

Most of my family have avoided it. However DH wfh and was originally shielding. I woh part time but outdoors. Still suspect we will get it once dds return to school.

Vegetalienne · 31/12/2021 05:33

We’ve not had it. Most people I know haven’t but of the people we know that have, most of them have now had it twice.

BooseysMom · 31/12/2021 05:36

I've not had it, yet but I'm very low risk. I've spent the last decade actively avoiding people, perfect training for a pandemic.

🤣

We're on our 4th or 5th cold here since beginning Nov. (I've lost count) and all negative LFTs. A third of DS's class had it but we had negative PCRs.
I'm double jabbed and boosted as work for NHS.
I am very sceptical about the accuracy of LFTs ..so many I know had negative LFTs before testing positive on PCR. We could well have had it unknowingly.

Outsidermum · 31/12/2021 05:37

One unvaccinated (too young) child had it the rest escaped.

Rainbows246 · 31/12/2021 05:39

A good number of my family friendship group haven’t. I work on a ward and plenty have and some twice but some of us haven’t.

I haven’t and neither have my siblings who work in public facing roles too . I’ve Never had a day off for testing or any isolation time either. Feel like I’m on borrowed time at the minute it’s rife everywhere including the ward I work on.

autieok · 31/12/2021 07:30

Out of my entire family (inc aunts uncles cousins etc)only my adult dd has had it. Out of all my family and friends (prob around 300 people) I know 19 people that have had it.

HelloDulling · 31/12/2021 07:45

DD had it in Sept, but the rest of us avoided it.

Of my friends, two have had it. Lots of the parents had school have had it, but many of them are medics, so it’s unsurprising.

Most of the teens I know have had it, though not my DS.

I work in a school, have done throughout. I will probably get it next week.

frenchiemummy92 · 31/12/2021 07:45

DP had it October 2020. Me & our two DDs have never had a positive PCR although I do always get faint lines on flowflex LFTs. So as far as I am aware we haven't had it.

I've been really poorly for a week though with flu symptoms. I was very shocked to have a negative PCR this week. Even my arm where I've had both jabs had been burning and two of the days I couldn't get out off bed.

We've been in contact with close contacts so I'm surprised we haven't caught it.

GoodnightGrandma · 31/12/2021 07:47

We haven’t, but they’re going down fast with it at work so maybe it’s just a matter of time.

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 31/12/2021 07:51

I’ve not had it or know of anybody that has done.

DD has been going to nursery throughout, I was in/out of hospital during pregnancy with DS and beyond, DH working out of home. My DM is a GP receptionist and she’s had her first colleague test positive on Boxing Day.

Ticking time bomb I imagine but I would’ve thought we would have had it by now.

delilahbucket · 31/12/2021 08:03

Not us or any of my immediate family, only my brother's girlfriend a few months ago. Only DS has been a close contact through school a couple of times. I have quite a lot of friends who haven't had it either. DH's family, just his sister, her kids, boyfriend all had it last year but they are very much of the belief Covid isn't a thing so don't take any precautions, and DS's dad currently has it with his girlfriend and two kids.
It's all very odd. On the other hand I have a friend who has already had it twice, pre Omicron, and was very poorly the second time (asymptomatic the first) and that was after her vaccines.
I think you're either susceptible to it or you're not.

Crunchymum · 31/12/2021 08:04

We both have big families.

Counting adults and kids on my side there are 21 of us (siblings, their partners, our respective children and one parent) only 1 of us has had it.

DP's side (counting just the close family) there are 16 and 5 have had it. One of them are a family if 4 and the 5th person has had it twice.

We are all pretty regular testers - although most of the kids on both sides are primary age so tend to only test for symptoms.
