I know it's unreasonable to expect everyone to stay at home but I'm about to test as a relatives husband has just tested positive. It's now come out that he is unvaccinated ....not sure why. He's told his wife that he doesn't want the vaccine 🙄Hmm

What is annoying me is that he has socialised all over Christmas with family and my parents, many who are elderly with underlying health problems and who can ill afford to get this virus.

Everyone now has to test .

Thankfully it seems everyone (apart from him) has had both vaccines and a booster. Risks of them catching it are low but not out of the realms of possibility .

Just feeling irritated that he's taken the risk of not being vaccinated and then mixed with everyone.

No point to this post apart from me letting off steam but grrrrr! So cross.

‘The unvaccinated’
Jesus Christ.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 28/12/2021 14:44

OP I think the greatest risk is to him because being unvaccinated he could possibly have more severe symptoms.

bg21 · 28/12/2021 14:44

in the kindest way possible, get a fucking grip !!!

XenoBitch · 28/12/2021 14:45

If he is the only one to have tested so far, then he could have caught it off of one of you. Did you test before meeting him?

Why did you title this "The unvaccinated...." instead of something like 'unvaccinated visitor". Your choice of words is very dehumanising and divisive.

JustABloodyMinute · 28/12/2021 14:45

I would have thought LFT status is more important before mixing? Vaccinated or not, it will still spread.

littlepeas · 28/12/2021 14:45

The unvaccinated are not an underclass of people and are fully entitled to choose what they put into their own bodies and to go wherever they please.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 28/12/2021 14:46

Who's to say that he didn't get the virus from one of your vaccinated family members?

GaiusHelenMohiam · 28/12/2021 14:46

I know loads of people (inc me and DH) with Covid right now, all double or triple jabbed.

Get over yourself.

Spotthedog91 · 28/12/2021 14:47

Me and my husband are not vaccinated. 2 of our family members have tested positive today. They are both vaccinated. We are negative.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 28/12/2021 14:48

They’ll be breathing our air next! The dirty bastards

LadyNell · 28/12/2021 14:48

Even the vaccinated can catch it so no difference if you ask me. I'm currently isolating along rest of my family who gave all been vaccinated and have it

LittleBabyCheeses · 28/12/2021 14:49

I’ve had 3 vaccines and just caught covid. Everyone I’ve come into contact with has had to test because of me.

As long as an unvaccinated person is careful and tests regularly they pose no more threat of transmitting covid than anyone else. This obsession with people's vaccination status is absolutely crazy. I'd understand if the vaccine stopped you contracting it or passing it on but it doesn't and this '70% less likely' line seems nonsense in real life - I don't know a single vaccinated person who hasn't recently had covid!

skintasabint · 28/12/2021 14:52

I don't understand why people discuss if they are jabbed or not.

Indeed! The only person who avoided it when we had it was my unvaccinated ds…the vaccinated people all caught it, including my mum who had also had a booster at that point!
Fathernetter · 28/12/2021 14:54

🧟The Unvaccinated🧟

BringBackThinEyebrows · 28/12/2021 14:54

I've had 2 jabs and currently have covid 🙄Hmm

I caught it from a mate who's had her booster 🙄🙄🙄

Spotthedog91 · 28/12/2021 14:56

@narutocrazyfox absolutely correct. Testing is a lot more effective in stopping the spread than vaccination status. I am not vaccinated. I found out today my family member is positive and have done lateral flow (negative). I will continue to do so for the next 7 days.

PineappleMojito · 28/12/2021 14:57

Well you can rest easy, since the only person protected by a vaccine is the vaccinated person - they are protected against serious illness by their vaccination, but it does not stop them
A) catching Covid
B) passing Covid on to someone else

When will people get this in their heads?

I don't understand why the fully vaccinated are panicked by socialising with someone who isn't, it's almost as if you don't think the vaccine works.

I'm fully vaccinated but I don't care if someone isn't.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/12/2021 15:04

I, vaccinated, caught Covid from a vaccinated person.

Get a grip on yourself. Everyone can transmit Covid, vaccinated or not. Do you have children? Under 12s aren't vaccinated.

Tavelo · 28/12/2021 15:08

To be fair, contracting covid almost definitely gives you better immunity than any number of vaccines
