Is everyone treating every day in the lead up to the Big Day now?

I know I need to step up with the testing considering the mixing we will be doing over Christmas and will start testing daily from today. Are others doing the same?

It's quite nerve wracking though as it's late in the game to have to put a stop to all the lovely plans. Fingers crossed for good health people.

I test daily at the mo. I’m working up to xmas Eve. Mum and my dh are both vulnerable and so need to be cautious. There are a dozen of us together for xmas. We’ve kept Ds at home, rather than going to cinema/play dates, he’s quite happily playing on his PS4. It does make it a bit of an anxiety rollercoaster hoping we aren’t the ones to ruin things.
Treats? Ds is having enough treats for everyone Grin

LadyIckenham · 22/12/2021 07:33

We are but mainly because DD tested positive last week (completely asymptomatic throughout).

Kits seem to be back in stock online where we are (South East) and my day was made yesterday when I managed to pick up a box of 20 from the library yesterday.
Which is a massive help when you are a family of 6, like us.

Sad indictment of my life at the moment that this was yesterday's highlight Grin

megletthesecond · 22/12/2021 07:34

We're hoping to see family on boxing day so we'll test tomorrow and Xmas day. Kids haven't done anything since they broke up.

OfMinceAndMen · 22/12/2021 07:35

Nope. I've never taken a test and I'm not about to start now (yes, yes im vaccinated and wearing my mask 🥱).
What I am doing though is having a daily dose of Stilton between now and the New Year.

Nidan2Sandan · 22/12/2021 07:36

Am I heck!

Treats on the other hand Xmas Grin

pjparty · 22/12/2021 07:38

Started testing every day on Monday as on holiday and starting to see elderly relatives, DH got a positive test lateral flow on day 1! DH has no classic symptoms so very glad we did not visit my 90 year old nan without doing that test.

PupInAPram · 22/12/2021 07:41

Test twice a week for my job, so Christmas holiday is also a holiday from that. My job exposes me to thousands of unmasked people at close quarters every week. Over Christmas I'll meet with my 2 adult children only. So no, no testing for me over Christmas. I'll start again on January 2nd.

trying29 · 22/12/2021 07:41

We were then found out I was positive yesterday and had to cancel everything ☹️

Luvacuppatea · 22/12/2021 07:43

No testing here, but plenty of treating 😊

tickingthebox73 · 22/12/2021 07:45

No, I'm not ill and neither are the family -- I would drive myself mad testing....I'll test before people come though on Christmas Eve.

TreeLawney · 22/12/2021 07:45

We are testing before seeing friends / relatives. So yes, pretty much every day at the moment.

gettingolderandgrumpy · 22/12/2021 07:46

No tested at weekend but I’ll not bother till after Christmas now unless I get symptoms or I or my family are a contact . I’ll test before I visit my grandparents between Christmas and new year .

user1486915549 · 22/12/2021 08:06

I should test twice a week for work but no tests available in any of the pharmacies.
I am saving my last one to use before seeing family on Boxing Day

valnevavaxx · 22/12/2021 08:10

Yes I’m testing every day, utterly selfish not to.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/12/2021 08:12

Testing daily but only because one of my kids actually has covid so we are obliged to as household contacts

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 22/12/2021 08:43

I tested on Monday because i had two freinds round

Was going to do it today as meeting another couple but they’ve cancelled

Id be happy to test again if meeting up with other friends but I won’t be bothering with the family I’m seeing at Christmas as i see them every other weekend anyway

I work infrequently at a school and when I’m working I have to test twice a week

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/12/2021 08:46

Yes I’m testing every day, utterly selfish not to.
Rubbish. When I had Covid I tested negative on LFTs the entire way through so in my opinion they're useless. I'll get a PCR if I have symptoms.
TheMilkyWeigh · 22/12/2021 08:48

Nope. No way am I testing.

Alayalaya · 22/12/2021 08:49

We can’t get hold of the tests so we can’t test every day. We have two tests saved in the cupboard for Christmas Day, we can’t use them before that because we can’t get any more.

RedRobin100 · 22/12/2021 08:50

Treating yes. Testing no.

Am still WFH although the kid back in nursery today so maybe - but probs only Xmas eve before I see people

RedRobin100 · 22/12/2021 08:51

Although they will be riskier than me so I probs won’t bother unless have synptoms

PurpleDaisies · 22/12/2021 08:53

We’ve recently had covid so no. If we hadn’t, it would be twice weekly asymptomatic testing plus before any risky activities meeting people.

valnevavaxx · 22/12/2021 08:54

@Waxonwaxoff0 How are people meant to catch asymptomatic cases then?

LFTs are not for people with symptoms, and even though they’re not 100% accurate they’re better than nothing and will catch a small amount who would otherwise be mixing with people.

If you’re mixing with anyone it is common sense to take regular LFTs.

toomuchlaundry · 22/12/2021 08:55

I thought the new type of LFTs were more accurate.

We are regularly testing and have cut down social contacts as much as possible this week, in the hope my elderly DM can come for Christmas Day.

TheFlis12345 · 22/12/2021 08:56

Yup testing frequently and been isolating since the weekend before we head to see our elderly parents on the 23rd.
