I know I need to step up with the testing considering the mixing we will be doing over Christmas and will start testing daily from today. Are others doing the same?

It's quite nerve wracking though as it's late in the game to have to put a stop to all the lovely plans. Fingers crossed for good health people.

No, twice a week as always. with tests in short supply and my social contact much reduced (because everything has been cancelled) I don’t see the need to do any more.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/12/2021 08:43

dc is hosting, so perhaps i could double check

CharSiu · 23/12/2021 10:27

All tested before DH left to drive 200 miles to collect MIL yesterday. They are at her house all day today with his sister and will travel back on Christmas Eve. His sister will return to Spain late tonight. DS and I will test again tomorrow before they leave. If we test positive then he will have to stay there for Christmas as don’t want the poor woman to have another Christmas alone. She is classed as vulnerable so couldn’t come back with him.

Lifeisnteasy · 23/12/2021 10:31

Nope. I will be seeing my family on Christmas Day, and unless anyone starts with some obvious symptoms, no testing.

NerrSnerr · 23/12/2021 10:44

@SirSamuelVimes

Nope. Not ruining Xmas again. We'll test if we have symptoms, not otherwise. My parents are the more vulnerable of the group getting together for Xmas and they aren't testing, so I'm certainly not going to.
Won't you feel absolutely awful if you develop symptoms on the day after seeing your parents and test positive and realise that you could have possibly prevented it with an LFT?
SirSamuelVimes · 23/12/2021 10:51

Nope. Why should I? Because IF I developed symptoms all it would be is (most likely scenario according to the current data trends) that I have a sore throat and a headache for a couple of days, and now they do too??

No-one I am socialising with is particularly vulnerable - my parents are the "most vulnerable" of us, as they are late 60s. However they are otherwise healthy, triple jabbed, and haven't limited their own socialising in the last few weeks. Nor are they regularly testing themselves.

At this point we are all more than happy to roll the dice.
