Is everyone treating every day in the lead up to the Big Day now?

I know I need to step up with the testing considering the mixing we will be doing over Christmas and will start testing daily from today. Are others doing the same?

It's quite nerve wracking though as it's late in the game to have to put a stop to all the lovely plans. Fingers crossed for good health people.

Was close contact to Covid at work last week so I am testing daily and I will test daily until (and on) Christmas Day before I see my Nan.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 22/12/2021 09:42

sounds awful, but we don't have enough tests to test every day. I am saving them for when I get back to work on 29/12, as before I went on leave they were in short supply in the workplace.

eurochick · 22/12/2021 09:45

Yep. Daily testing as I got pinged by T and T. I'm vaccinated so not required to isolate but need to test every day for ten (now 7?) days.

C152 · 22/12/2021 09:48

@Joystir59

Treating yes, testing no.
Lol! Yes, this!
RoseAndRose · 22/12/2021 09:49

No, because we no longer have plans to be elsewhere.

If any new plans are made, then we have enough tests to do pre-departure ones and still have enough for return to school ones.

The100thHoliday · 22/12/2021 09:50

No, but it’s just going to be me, DH and DC mixing indoors until the 29th. We’ll test before we go and see my Mum on the 29th. No NYE plans.

ExConstance · 22/12/2021 09:51

I do a weekly PCR test for work but would not do any extra ones for social reasons.

LadyCatStark · 22/12/2021 09:54

Treat yes, test no.

TheCatShatInTheHat · 22/12/2021 09:55

My mum died of Covid last Christmas. I'll be taking one on Christmas morning to hopefully negate killing my dad.

Coasterfan · 22/12/2021 09:59

We aren’t seeing family over Xmas so had no plans to test but DS tested positive last night as he was showing symptoms so we will all be testing daily now. I wish we had done it before even without symptoms as I m feeling guilty for the Christmasses we have ruined if he was infectious yesterday and earlier in the week while we were out and about.

Pushkinia · 22/12/2021 10:08

I’m testing before appointments or before I meet up with friends/family but I’ve had a lot of appointments in the last 2 weeks, so it’s been about 4 days a week. Getting hold of LFTs has been problematic - none in the pharmacies in my town - but U managed to order a box from the website late yesterday.

Winterlove · 22/12/2021 10:12

Every day since Thursday and will probably keep doing it until the 28th then might down to 2-3 per week. The way I see it is I don’t want to ruin someone else’s Christmas plans by unknowingly passing it on.

WheelieBinPrincess · 22/12/2021 10:51

@PurpleDaisies

You’re right, I totally don’t want to, but we are also in the middle of moving house with a tiny baby is it IS pretty far down on my list of things to do.

FinallyHere · 22/12/2021 10:54

Testing gives some level of reassurance that I am not unbeknownst spreading the virus asymptomatically. The idea of going about untested is much more nerve wracking for me.

actiongirl1978 · 22/12/2021 10:56

Not testing now. Just out of isolation today. Not testing the kids again, they have no symptoms.

My age 70s parents have socialised so much this week they could have caught the virus from any one of the 5 or 6 places they've eaten out or had drinks.

They arrive at our house on Xmas day and no tests are required.

Agreed. Just done mine for today and all good. Let's hope it stays that way.

We test twice a week anyway & at the moment also before meet ups

Isthatthebestyoucando · 22/12/2021 11:01

I’m testing before every event or socialising.

Okbutnotgreat · 23/12/2021 07:15

Can’t get lateral flow tests for love nor money so not testing as much as I’d like to really but will definitely test xmas eve as I’m supposed to have a houseful for several days. Mind you, I’m not sure that will be reciprocated by my guests.

DynamiteFilledRadish · 23/12/2021 07:17

@Waxonwaxoff0

Am I heck. I'm not doing any testing unless I develop symptoms.
Same here.
YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 23/12/2021 07:19

Nope, definitely not. We’re not going anywhere or having visitors so why would we?
I do have a box of LFTs because DH has hospital appointments coming up but beyond that there’s nothing planned.

User762980 · 23/12/2021 08:02

No, we aren't going anywhere and DS has tested positive so not even seeing him now. We also have a box of tests in as DH is going to an outdoor event in January that needs one, I ordered a box last week when I saw it was difficult to get tests.

JohnSmithDrive · 23/12/2021 08:05

I've tested every day this week, not because of Christmas day but because I know I've taken some risks with the mixing I've done and there's probably a high possibility. I generally test before going to meet people and that's been every day.

Ok so far...

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/12/2021 08:16

no
i do twice weekly and am due tomorrow but it would be pointless

fluffi · 23/12/2021 08:23

Yes because want to make sure I’ve definitely not had any detectable covid viral load in the 2 weeks before Christmas and having vulnerable family over for a few days. They haven’t been out themselves since early December and I can’t face being the likely source of infection, then being sick / hospitalised or worse.

Prior to that was testing about 4/5 times a week.
