Is everyone treating every day in the lead up to the Big Day now?

I know I need to step up with the testing considering the mixing we will be doing over Christmas and will start testing daily from today. Are others doing the same?

It's quite nerve wracking though as it's late in the game to have to put a stop to all the lovely plans. Fingers crossed for good health people.

Only before socialising.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/12/2021 09:00
@Waxonwaxoff0 How are people meant to catch asymptomatic cases then?

LFTs are not for people with symptoms, and even though they’re not 100% accurate they’re better than nothing and will catch a small amount who would otherwise be mixing with people.

If you’re mixing with anyone it is common sense to take regular LFTs.
Obviously they do catch some cases, but they didn't catch mine so I'm not wasting my time doing them again.

TicTacHoh · 22/12/2021 09:00

Treating = yes, opened a massive box of guylian sea shells to myself last night.

Testing = nope, not until any symptoms appear

Badnightguaranteed · 22/12/2021 09:01

Loads of treats

toomuchlaundry · 22/12/2021 09:02

@Waxonwaxoff0 all because they didn’t work once with you doesn’t mean they wouldn’t work again

TolkiensFallow · 22/12/2021 09:02

I will lateral flow every day I’m due to spend with an elderly or vulnerable relative.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/12/2021 09:04
@Waxonwaxoff0 all because they didn’t work once with you doesn’t mean they wouldn’t work again
Yeah, but I'm not bothering. No one I know does them either apart from a family member who works in a hospital which is understandable.

WheelieBinPrincess · 22/12/2021 09:04

Christ no can’t be arsed with that, too much to do.

TallulahsCurse · 22/12/2021 09:05

No. That's ridiculous. If you test today then that means absolutely nothing by Saturday.
Considering how much plastic and waste is in a box of tests, all you're doing is wasting the Earth's resources for no useful information with regards to Christmas itself. Which is just another day in a year.

Allsorts1 · 22/12/2021 09:06

We only have enough tests left for one test each, so saving them for xmas eve.

PurpleDaisies · 22/12/2021 09:06

@WheelieBinPrincess

Christ no can’t be arsed with that, too much to do.
It takes no more than two minutes to test and two seconds to look at the result fifteen minutes later.

If you don’t want to test, that’s up to you but really, it’s not exactly a hardship to do a test.

Busybee5000 · 22/12/2021 09:12

My FILs care home has come down with several cases and DH visited on Sunday so now we are ltf ing every day. Already minimised contact as my parent has MND and we are going to stay with them supposedly from today. Literally had enough if it all and the sleepless nights but yes, we are Ltf ing. It’s hardly difficult and everyone should be in the same boat of worry, it’s not just you.

BiddyPop · 22/12/2021 09:20

Testing every 2 days here as positive case next to dd in school this week. We aren't going anywhere until the ny weekend though, and only if numbers stabilise and we're ok still. As 3 late 70s with health issues involved, plus a few asthmatics. All jabbed, most tripled, but still....

SirSamuelVimes · 22/12/2021 09:21

Nope. Not ruining Xmas again. We'll test if we have symptoms, not otherwise. My parents are the more vulnerable of the group getting together for Xmas and they aren't testing, so I'm certainly not going to.

RestingStitchFace · 22/12/2021 09:26

Testing about every 3 days here. We will do a test before we depart to see in-laws on Friday.

But definitely choosing to avoid public indoor spaces wherever possible atm.

pourmeanotherglass · 22/12/2021 09:28

Testing twice a week for work. I've got a week off now, but will test before meeting family and before going to church.
Treating going well too, Im enjoying the gingerbread house the kids made, and have already had way too much mulled wine and mince pies.

toomuchlaundry · 22/12/2021 09:29

@SirSamuelVimes we are more concerned about giving COVID to my elderly DM than if she gives it to us. She did pick up a box of tests the other day and did say she would give it a go, but that is her choice. We don’t have other vulnerable relatives joining us over Christmas, so we are testing to protect her. Will also test after Christmas too, ass as have been testing on average twice a week as per guidance

Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 22/12/2021 09:32

If I can get hold of any lft I will be they are like rocking horse shit atm.

GaiusHelenMohiam · 22/12/2021 09:33

Testing every day as colleagues are positive.

Negative last night before going out, positive this morning 😬

Littlewhiteballs · 22/12/2021 09:34

Dd tested positive so we're isolating until Thursday. I'll test us all Friday morning before venturing out to the theatre but that's it.

I've been incredibly stressed about getting it. If I test everyday then the stress might finish me off so we've all stayed home and tried to forget about it.

Fairylights25 · 22/12/2021 09:34

We are testing every day as we are seeing elderly and frail relatives for Christmas, so we are obliged to ensure we are careful. Everyone around us are dropping like flies. Most definitely testing on the morning before we meet anyone. So that works out daily.

Beginning to feel like I can't wait for it to be over with! I am tired of worrying about bloody sodding covid!

HesterShaw1 · 22/12/2021 09:34

No. We are not doing this

HappyGreen · 22/12/2021 09:35

Yes. I test 4 times a week anyway, have vulnerable clients and parents who I see regularly. It's a very simple measure that can reduce the risk of infecting the vulnerable.

CirreltheSquirrel · 22/12/2021 09:38

No, no point wasting tests when I'm not seeing anyone outside my household until Friday. I'll test before that (meeting 95 year old relative) and that will be enough - the rest of Christmas is being spent with different combinations of the same people anyway so we'll probably have infected each other before a test shows anything anyway.

minipie · 22/12/2021 09:40

Yes tested yesterday and will test again tomorrow before we drive to my parents who are in their 70s with health problems.

We have also cancelled some social things to reduce the risk of catching covid before Christmas.

If I wasn’t seeing anyone vulnerable I would not be testing or limiting social stuff however.
