Just that really. Who's looking forward to their 4th jab in a few months?? Confused

I'm having my 4th in January, my third was a primary vaccine so the 4th is my booster so it's already happening here for a specific group

GrumpyPanda · 22/12/2021 00:40

Bring it on!

BurntO · 22/12/2021 00:42

Let’s go! It takes 5 minutes

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/12/2021 00:46

I'm fine with as many boosters as necessary. Would much rather have a booster every 6 months and wear a facemask then perpetually face lockdowns, isolations and school/work disruptions.

Sonex · 22/12/2021 00:49

Fine by me. January would be 4th in a year for me, not few months and I'm happy to take as many types and shapes of covid antibodies as I can get - I really don't want covid or long covid!

Thewiseoneincognito · 22/12/2021 00:52

I saw this too on Yahoo! news. I suppose we’ll be starting this here
in the new year at some point, I’m not thrilled to be honest. I think we need some clarity on efficacy wane and whether there are significant differences between age groups. I’ll be having my booster in January but I’d like to know how long it protects me for.

The unvaccinated have a lot of catching up to do.

Regularly vaccinating the whole country more or less means we’re going to need purpose built dedicated vaccination hubs to remove the pressure from GPs. The cost of this is going to be immense.

Here’s hoping they get the one shot cure all jab formulated sooner rather than later.

Same here.
GreenLunchBox · 22/12/2021 00:54

Surely it needs to just be the vulnerable now, like they do with the flu jab

milly74 · 22/12/2021 00:55

Forced vaccination to avoid becoming a second class citizen and to retain your freedoms every six months? And you are all happy with that!

I've had 3 and was very ill after each vaccine. Enough.

HibiscusIsland · 22/12/2021 00:58

Yes please

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/12/2021 01:04

@milly74 it's not forced vaccination though is it, if you are happy to get them.

I haven't been ill at all after any of the jabs, bit of a sore arm for 24hrs but nothing more than that.

DG123 · 22/12/2021 01:05

@GreenLunchBox I agree with you. I've had 3 now and I don't think I'll be doing anymore at least for a while, even if there is a different variant tbh.

Oh that’s fabulous for you then. Well done you.

nanny2012nanny · 22/12/2021 01:07

Where will this end though

MummyPop00 · 22/12/2021 01:10

Save some time & just hook people up to Pfizer drips

sofato5miles · 22/12/2021 01:10

I have had four, as have most people i know. We live in a country that offered Sinopharm first so had two of those, then two of pfizer by august. If they say another 6 month booster is required, i'll be first in the queue.

ilovesooty · 22/12/2021 01:17

Exactly. I've had no reaction to any of my three vaccines and I'm happy to have whatever is offered. I don't care if that's 6 monthly for the foreseeable future.

GotToGoBye · 22/12/2021 01:19

Not bothered in principle /for myself, will go for it if evidence will reduce risk transmission, but think low risk people will not go for this, in increasing numbers.

Shmithecat2 · 22/12/2021 01:33

My friend's dad has already had his 4th jab, and FIL was invited to book his today. Both are CEV (cancer).

Shmithecat2 · 22/12/2021 01:34

And I'll happily have my 4th when invited.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 22/12/2021 01:39

I genuinely had no idea they were even doing 4th jabs in the UK. Assuming some of those who've said they're getting their 4th are in the UK?

Yes, both people mentioned in my previous post are in the UK, England to be precise.
frasersmummy · 22/12/2021 02:32

This is getting silly, I've had 3 lots in 8 months, even giving them 3 months to get round to me that's 4 in a year.

I.want the govt to start being much clearer about why we need each one ..is it waning immunity, is it that az was not as good as they thought, is it guess work ?

Some of the CEV needed 3 doses as their primary course (rather than the 2 doses for majority) and then also need a booster.

I’ve pretty much decided that I’ll be happy to take another couple of boosters next year - and then work on the basis of annually from then on (like the flu jab). If that scenario changes dramatically, then I will maybe change my mind. But I’ll be listening to various scientists, not to the politicians.

I don’t have kids, but I would like to do what I can to make sure that schools stay open. I am not in a position to socialise much, but I’d also like hospitality to not be decimated.

I have to take two medications, for life, for auto-immune conditions (one tablet, one injection). I figure I’m not going to quibble about another one that helps me and also hopefully helps others.

Those two medications keep me on an even keel. They are “managed” and are unlikely to kill me in the foreseeable future (mid-forties). But they would be listed as an underlying condition in the stats if I succumb to Covid. Sod that for a game of soldiers, I’m not an “underlying condition” statistic.

Have Israel only used Pfizer for their booster (3rd) shots? Wonder if they’ll use a different one for the 4th. Could be interesting data to keep an eye on.

I’m no expert, but I’d say it’s mainly the first scenario - waning efficiency couple with virus mutation.

I think AZ did what it needed to - until variations hit. It was cost effective and provided protection at a really troublesome point in the situation.

I don’t think it’s necessarily “guesswork”, but equally the scientists are working with an ever evolving situation. New variants might throw up curveballs, but my limited understanding doesn’t make me feel worried. They are always working from a “base point” with regards to these viruses - the difficulty is it’s a novel virus and adjusting for mutations. Eventually, they will get a handle on things re preparing a vaccine annually that hopefully covers that years situation (as they do for the flu). But I’m prepared that this isn’t going to happen overnight.
