Just that really. Who's looking forward to their 4th jab in a few months?? Confused

I think it will be boosters every six months until the single vaccine to cover all variants that Chris Whitty was talking about is developed. Then it'll be annual, like the flu jab.

Fine by me!

janj2301 · 22/12/2021 07:29

I'd have a 4th but NOT Pfizer, had 2 already what a different one next time

I don't see how they can develop a vaccine that protects against all variants. The point is viruses mutate to survive. Whatever vaccine they develop will only work short term at best. Deaths from flu haven't stopped because of the vaccine in fact they have gone up. Can we really afford to put so much time and energy into a partial solution for what is essentially flu.

My understanding is that the booster program is based on waning immunity over time, rather than a magical number of jabs. A person who just completes their first course now will have higher immunity than someone boosted in October. So unvaxxed don't need to 'catch up'.

Resistance to the boosters seems closely linked to how well a person coped with the early shots. It's totally understandable that someone who is normally healthy and becomes bedridden for 48+ hours after every dose is going to crack it over taking boosters every four months.

OfMinceAndMen · 22/12/2021 07:41

I guess I'll be forced into having as many jabs as needed to be able to fly abroad, as I'd like to go on holiday again at some point.
However, I'm still waiting for the huge public health campaign encouraging people to lose weight, get active, and get outdoors to top up their Vitamin D - undoing some of the harm of the "stay home" message that's been pushed throughout. I think I'll be waiting a long time...

They did send out vitamin d to CEV but it was such a low dose (400) and I was massively deficient after shielding. I take 4000IU a day now after a high dose course as I don't see much sun at all! Can't exercise at all but I'm taking a multivitamin too and trying to eat more fruit and veg

Well I think the government are missing a trick! Why are they not using this situation to tell people to get healthier - after all being unhealthy is not a favourable position to be in re Covid. I am talking about people who are unfit/overweight just because they lead an unhealthy lifestyle - not for a medical reason. The government have the vast majority of the population jumping when they say jump, so I don't quite get why they are not going down that road. Sorry - I know this is a bit off topic...
Luredbyapomegranate · 22/12/2021 08:07

Fine by me. I imagine there will be a few more and then yearly like flu.

How fucking lucky we are to live in a country with the money and infrastructure to do this.

Flora8203 · 22/12/2021 08:09

I won't be yet. Already at 3 in a year, I'm not sure if I'd want another for a good few months

Yeah I’m getting a bit tired of getting health advice from sickly obese people who couldn’t even run a mile
Sally090807 · 22/12/2021 08:20

@milly74

Forced vaccination to avoid becoming a second class citizen and to retain your freedoms every six months? And you are all happy with that!

I've had 3 and was very ill after each vaccine. Enough.

This
Headingnorthwoste · 22/12/2021 08:20

Yes please

I want to protect others and myself. Small price to pay.

HelloMissus · 22/12/2021 08:21

Every six months?
I’d have one every six hours if it meant we could live normally again!!!

zen1 · 22/12/2021 08:22

No one knows what the long term effects of all these vaccines will be. I won’t be having a forth.

Fallagain · 22/12/2021 08:30

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo

I'm fine with as many boosters as necessary. Would much rather have a booster every 6 months and wear a facemask then perpetually face lockdowns, isolations and school/work disruptions.
Me too!
DSGR · 22/12/2021 08:32

Fine by me… we’re in a global pandemic. Whatever gets us through it. It clearly won’t be forever!

BeyondMyWits · 22/12/2021 08:32

The nhs will never be allowed to get back to normal if it is continually jabbing arms. How much longer...Sad

Newestname002 · 22/12/2021 08:34

I'm fine with it - mine would be due in January. I would still mask up, use sanitiser etc given how transmissible the Omicron variant is and try and carry on as normal a life as possible. 🌹

Bewildered2021 · 22/12/2021 08:36

This is insane especially with the long term effects still unknown.

Quornflakegirl · 22/12/2021 08:42

My family of 4 (dc are 9) have had 10 vaccinations between us in 7 months. I feel like we’ve done our fair share for society and I will not have another until a full year has passed.

BaileysBaileys · 22/12/2021 08:51

I’m very reluctant to get any more now. I was poorly after my two AZ, then got Covid in September and wasn’t keen to get booster as felt I had antibodies etc but went ahead and got booster Saturday. Got the Moderna and still feeling rough. Aching muscles, wiped out etc no energy and feel I should have waited as it’s ruined my pre Christmas week
I don’t want to put a vaccine in me now every few months and be ill anyway. Think I’m done

walksen · 22/12/2021 08:52

"This is insane especially with the long term effects still unknown"

Of covid or boosters? At this point it is one or the other. Some people have the luxury to decide which I guess.

If we thought everyone would get delta eventually this is even more so the case with Omicron.

Iheartmysmart · 22/12/2021 09:11

I’ve got my booster today. If it makes me feel as shit as the first two then I’m not having any more.

Silverswirl · 22/12/2021 09:14

Mixing vaccines and putting more and more Pfizer into your body.
How has any of these repeated boosters and mixture of vaccines had time to be tested?
Or are the general population the testing subjects for this?
And before anyone jumps down my throat with ‘covid is also untested’ you will still most likely get covid after having the vaccines - they don’t stop you getting it.
Just honestly don’t see how they can have rigorously tested mixing vaccines and repeated doses on a wider scale before rolling it out.

Trixiefirecracker · 22/12/2021 09:18

I’ve just had my third but honestly am beginning to think about whether I would have a fourth. I’ve been massively compliant but think once a year is enough.
