He is going to resign as a Christmas present to us all.
trollopolis · 21/12/2021 20:31

I'm being cynical and thinking that Boris's 'no new restrictions before Christmas' actually mean 'barring a minor miracle, we'll be making an announcement in a couple of days that slams the shutters down in 27th"

I suspect the Welsh and Scottish governments are possibly playing it rather straighter

freckles20 · 22/12/2021 00:04

@Traceyfromthecornershop

I really do wish people would stop making these posts. They just get everyone worked up and worried

There's really only one person who will be given the information for definite when the next announcement will be and when I am I'll let you know!!!

Wink

It’s ok. Dhs friend spoke to a nurse and it’s the 27th lockdown starts
She’s a nurse and gets to hear these things first

I shit you not. That was my Sunday night conversation.

Mandyjack · 22/12/2021 17:57

Do you think the tabloids are always right?

Mandyjack · 22/12/2021 17:58

Or the 26th like NI

Whu020 · 22/12/2021 18:17

You mean the media are making an announcement cos they own Boris

PriamFarrl · 22/12/2021 18:25

No she doesn’t. If every single nurse in the country knew this as a fact then everyone would know as you couldn’t expect every single nurse to keep it secret. She might have her suspicion but she wouldn’t know for sure. I’m not saying their won’t be but this nurse won’t know before everyone else. Just think how many nurses there are on mn for example, and none of them saying anything?

So much bollocks around like this. Today I heard someone say that they had a friend who was very high up in KFC and he had been told there was going to be a lock down.

My best buddy is high up in Little Chef and they have been told there won't be another lockdown ever.

EvilPea · 22/12/2021 18:29

@PriamFarrl I know it’s bollocks.
If nurses knew, the other Sundays vaccines news wouldn’t have been a shock!
Teachers would have known about lockdowns and what was needed of them

Pretty sure Boris doesn’t even know.

BonneMaman15 · 22/12/2021 18:30

@PriamFarrl Evilpea was being facetious 😘

BonneMaman15 · 22/12/2021 18:30

I meant 😅!

quiteathome · 22/12/2021 18:37

He doesn't know.

I am expecting something between nothing new and whatever Wales and Scotland are up to. Although they might decide on what to do based on Brexit checks or something. So we can focus on a lockdown/ restrictions rather than Brexit related rubbish that is happening in January.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 22/12/2021 18:46

Nothing in The Times.

They have always called it early; I think they are the leakee of choice from this government.

However, it is common sense. If they want to (for instance) close indoor dining from 27th, they will have to give notice. I think The Sun is speculating.

Sorry. I didn’t notice the sarcasm.

Retired65 · 22/12/2021 19:23

Well, I just wish Boris would get on with it and then we know where we stand. The Welsh and Scots Governments can make a decision why not the English Government?

EvilPea · 22/12/2021 19:26

@PriamFarrl
No worries. It was fairly well hidden

I bet your face reading that was the same as mine when DH said it to me. Grin

VikingOnTheFridge · 22/12/2021 19:28

As things stand, I honestly wonder whether he could restrict much more without the backbenchers revolting.

MsGrumpytrousers · 22/12/2021 19:41

@Lottapianos

Well here's an announcement from me - Boris Johnson can absolutely go and fuck himself. Very hard and for a very long time. Ditto the rest of his godforsaken cabinet
Seconded! He can never just make a bloody decision and announce it, can he, the attention- seeking little tosser. It's all got to be fanfares and spotlights and everyone waiting for the words to drip from his puffy lips. Incompetent, corrupt, stupid, self-centred, immoral buffoon.
Lottapianos · 22/12/2021 19:43

'Incompetent, corrupt, stupid, self-centred, immoral buffoon'

That's a VERY generous description of him

Svara · 22/12/2021 19:45

Let them announce what they want. Means f*ck all to me

Jayne35 · 22/12/2021 19:56

He can announce whatever he likes, I will be ignoring his instructions this time and his grants for hospitality are pathetic, won’t even cover 10% of wage bills for bigger establishments.

Svara · 22/12/2021 20:02

Yes, I will be ignoring any instructions. I will make my own decisions as far as they are available to me (obviously can't go in establishments that are closed).

BlokeTarget · 22/12/2021 20:05

Scaremongering and creating drama.

Absolutely needless and unhelpful.
