@Benjispruce5

Why do the Scottish and a Welsh leaders have to lead the way every time? It’s quite embarrassing BJ, no wonder they want independence.
It follows money input
UniversalAunt · 21/12/2021 17:04

There’s a guy called Elvis down the chip shop, he swears (a lot) & knows what’s going on.I’ll pop out later for a fish supper & ask him what it’s all about.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/12/2021 17:04

@LuluBlakey1

My 5pm daily announcement would include:
  1. An update on today's toddler tantrums- with slides
  2. Medical updates on DH's fractured bone in his foot (this morning's drama) - which has meant we've had to call off our Christmas Day plan this afternoon. News about his operation- tomorrow. Avoiding giving a public explanation of how he did it because people might think he's an idiot.
  3. Possible scenarios for what we can do now instead on Christmas Day - which will no doubt involve ME going out doing additional food shopping tomorrow/Thursday and spending Christmas Day cooking it and taking 3 x DC out for a walk at some point.
  4. Questions from the Press about any of the above.
Grin
Please explain how he broke his foot.

Pleeeease.

You know you want to.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 21/12/2021 17:05

I doubt even a grant can save hospitality though.

Mindymomo · 21/12/2021 17:05

No more restrictions before Christmas.

camelfinger · 21/12/2021 17:07

I’m assuming that by Christmas he means Christmas Day itself. I guess there aren’t any/many trains running on Boxing Day and the bank holidays so you will be left with lots of people mixing afterwards anyway.

MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2021 17:08

@Mindymomo

No more restrictions before Christmas.
Is that the announcement?

Good

herecomesthsun · 21/12/2021 17:10

Apparently the announcement was a pre-recorded one. On twitter.

maddiemookins16mum · 21/12/2021 17:12

I never understand the almost palpable excitement some have about these announcements.

maddiemookins16mum · 21/12/2021 17:14

@RedToothBrush

This is a 'does a bear shit in the woods' thread.

Also. Yes the Pope is Catholic.

You’ve been saying this wrong. MIL (90) says

‘Does the Pope shit in the Woods’

Oblomov21 · 21/12/2021 17:14

No. They said today no more announcements before Christmas. They really are spineless.

DaisyNGO · 21/12/2021 17:15

But he's a liar and I'm not sure about....anyone! 😂
quiteathome · 21/12/2021 17:15

Nothing new in that announcement then.

Basically he is just trying to save his own political skin really.

DaisyNGO · 21/12/2021 17:15

Maddie I like your MIL version!

Ilikeviognier · 21/12/2021 17:17

Do we think this is just to placate us before introducing restrictions from Boxing Day onwards?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 21/12/2021 17:17

or he's actually taking a more rational approach than the loonies in Scotland and Wales
the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 17:18

Oh well, as we were.
They did say on sky news that parliament might have to come back next week. I bet they will be gutted about that ( Raab might have to phone it in from his holiday )
I suppose that it'll be on Boris Johnson's Santa wish list that the figures drop off a cliff and he won't have to cancel New Years or impose anymore restrictions on anyone or circuit breakers or anything at all !
Which is what we all want to hear.

MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2021 17:20

It’s because hospitality need to know what to do re staff and good over next few days - according to speakers on it - in part anyway

I don’t get the ire I’m glad we’ve got more days without restrictions esp over Christmas

Traceyfromthecornershop · 21/12/2021 17:20

I really do wish people would stop making these posts. They just get everyone worked up and worried

There's really only one person who will be given the information for definite when the next announcement will be and when I am I'll let you know!!!

Bunnyfuller · 21/12/2021 17:22

Can I help with set phrases ‘we must focus on’ ‘we can’t rule out’ ‘the coming days’ ‘Get your fucking booster’.

If allowed, I would like to plump up my role and add to the teensy bit repetitive phrases, with a slightly festive theme?

I do think that NS was a bit hasty banning the Edinburgh party , it looked as if it's outside (mostly ) and the Omnicron figures may well hold steady , drop back a lot and be ok by next Friday .
I know it's not easy for anyone and things need planning , but they are introducing things out PM isn't , as it stands now.
It's a shame that people are not doing all the same things.
They all must have the same figures and stats ?

It's a tough one. It must be so stressful having to make these sorts of decisions. Glad it's not me, but then they chose this job.

I guess cancelling it now means that businesses and individuals can make plans, even if it's disappointing for them. On the other hand, as you say, the party is a big deal for Edinburgh and it would be relatively low-risk as it's outdoors and numbers were already severely restricted. So maybe a little hasty. Who knows?

It's just a shame whatever way you look at it.

Doidontimmm · 21/12/2021 19:51

I think the Hogmanay party although outside is 30,000 people in a small area meaning pubs, restaurants etc are also really busy.

Just feel so sad for those businesses that will now lose trade. Hotels will be losing out badly.
