Within the next 48 hours apparently…

'lotta if you do, do you want me to ask various safe questions allowing you to expand on your position?'

Yes that would be splendid, thanks. And then you can join me for a boatload of cheese and wine after while we laugh at the plebs. Good times

freckles20 · 21/12/2021 15:52

The bright sparks at The Sun have cleverly deduced that 48 hours from today is the day before Christmas Eve.

Then they have used a complicated algorithm to work out that if nothing has been said by Christmas Eve then It will be too late for any changes.

CovidCurious · 21/12/2021 15:53

Sturgeon's new measures aren't too grim. I could cope with them if they were replicated in England.

PriamFarrl · 21/12/2021 15:55

I think this will happen.

Can I come?

I think we do need a rota as the announcement really needs to be repeated at 9, 12 and 10 so nobody misses it.

bizboz · 21/12/2021 15:55

If there's going to be announcement I wish they would just get on and announce something rather than the constant drip-feeding to either warm people up to an idea or test reactions. It seems to be government by Daily Mail comment.

TakeMe2Insanity · 21/12/2021 15:56

@Doidontimmm

That’s because Nicola just made one!!
This!
Wheresthebeach · 21/12/2021 15:57

Even Scotland's new measures aren't too bad, and Nicola loves to get in first.

Unless hospitalisations start to go up, I think Boris won't do much.

So far, cases aren't doubling every two days as predicted.

ShinyHappyPoster · 21/12/2021 15:58

ooh! I like the idea of an announcement thread. It would be like an alternative Queen's speech and much more entertaining than threads like this and Boris' announcements.
Can anyone tell me again how the trending now threads get picked because this seems an odd one to be there alongside the 'put unvaccinated people into gulags'. Is Trending Now sponsored by the Tories? Xmas Grin

ItsSunnyOutside · 21/12/2021 16:00

Let's see what bollocks he comes up with this time.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 21/12/2021 16:01

Ffs. So now everyone has to wait about for 48hrs to see what he's going to say. Why does he need to tell us this now?

MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2021 16:01

@MostNamesAreTaken

I think its just a waiting game for more data. And the media are trying to get more clicks while twiddling their thumbs.
Yep!
Thewiseoneincognito · 21/12/2021 16:01

@gogohm

There's no consensus in government, even less in the wider country. Even strict Nicola's measures aren't that draconian. I expect they will bring in some measures in January but timing is far from clear
I think Nicola Sturgeon is stuck without Furlough being fully introduced. Until Rishi brings it back then I don’t think she can do much else- I could be wrong but let’s see how she moves once Furlough returns.

As for the consensus in the wider country, I think most people are expecting a return to lockdown- the timing is the sticking point. Christmas ruined if restrictions come into play or Christmas ruined because people got infected at the dining table.

What are they?
the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 16:02

Nicola is on now.

duvetdayforeveryone · 21/12/2021 16:04

The announcement will be in the next 48 hours IF we can socialise during Christmas?!? Is he fucking serious?!? He can 100 times over go to hell!!!

After all those photos/videos he can never take away our freedom ever again.

All that wanted the jabs have had them, now let us live a life of normality once more.

Wolfiefan · 21/12/2021 16:04

@Lottapianos I bloody love you! I needed that smile.

the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 16:05

Well. She was on , but she has disappeared again .
She has cancelled Hogmanay celebrations:(

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/12/2021 16:06

Reuters are reporting the Sun is reporting it.The Sun may have been talking to Tracey in the corner shop.

The Sun probably got it from Mumsnet, it seems to be where they get a lot of their stories these days.

I’ll do the Welsh one for you at midday where we inexplicably do something totally random just so it’s not what Boris has done.
HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/12/2021 16:07

Reuters is getting its news from The Scum?

Sod off.

Justcannotbearsed · 21/12/2021 16:08

I think he just wants to be on Telly just before Christmas...Saving Christmas Again!!

Scotland's measures are bad because it's just a drip, drip, drip form of water torture.
MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2021 16:10

It’s probably because Jeremy Farrar said new data will be in in next 48 hours or so and papers have picked up on the line for something to say

Charles11 · 21/12/2021 16:11

I’m tempted to just ignore anything he says seeing as he and his chums ignore it all.
I’m not irresponsible but we’ve been low key so we can spend time with family responsibly over the Xmas period. We’re carrying on with our plans. Who knows how much time we have with our elderly family members. I’m seeing them and I’m not going to have any regrets.
