Within the next 48 hours apparently…

OP posts:
thepeopleversuswork · 21/12/2021 16:12

Why do they bother with these announcements at all when its all been leaked 48 hours earlier?

AnguaResurgam · 21/12/2021 16:14

Beeb has a couple of stories about relief schemes for businesses and sick pay rebates, so perhaps it's that??

the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 16:15

Sky news just now are talking about next week and Parliament might be recalled then.
It is all ifs and buts atm

IncompleteSenten · 21/12/2021 16:16

I think they likely drip feed some bits, see just how fucked off people are then decide what the official position will be.

User762980 · 21/12/2021 16:16

It will be for New Year, too late for Christmas, everyones turkeys will be defrosting by then, the ones that we were told to buy early, iirc.

GreenWhiteViolet · 21/12/2021 16:17

I suspect it'll be 'happy Christmas, get your booster' or something of that sort. Nothing important until next week.

the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 16:18

I bet that Steve Baker and Rees mogg are frothing at the mouth over all this.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/12/2021 16:19

@MarshaBradyo

It’s probably because Jeremy Farrar said new data will be in in next 48 hours or so and papers have picked up on the line for something to say
That makes more sense.

Thanks for that 🙂

CovidCorvid · 21/12/2021 16:20

They’ve said this every day since Saturday.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/12/2021 16:20

@AnguaResurgam

Yes. Leisure sector has been offered ÂŁ6k loans, or something, and SSP. I haven't read the details, local landlord is having a read, he'll let us all know soon enough.
MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2021 16:21

Hoarding I’ve realised listening R4 is good for media immunity - you can trace it back to the interviews without the emotive ramping ;

MrsSanteClaws · 21/12/2021 16:22

Link to new restrictions in Scotland from Boxing Day.

PigletInABlanketJohn · 21/12/2021 16:22

Is it his resignation?

Laiste · 21/12/2021 16:23

So ... we are waiting for an announcement about an announcement?

vera99 · 21/12/2021 16:23

Queen's abdicating and passing the crown to William as a huge end of series Christmas Day surprise. The nation cheers and as a postscript she sacks Johnson on the way out. But we have lockdown as well sadly.... but is tempered by clap for the Crown....

Maybe ?

Saucery · 21/12/2021 16:23

YouGov currently shilling for Opinions on lockdown 🙄

Cheetosyummy · 21/12/2021 16:24

I can’t see anything in the media about it.. where is it saying?

Blossomtoes · 21/12/2021 16:24

@PigletInABlanketJohn

Is it his resignation?
If only. That’s too much to hope for.
Omicrone · 21/12/2021 16:24

Sturgeon's strategy is to anticipate what Boris is going to say, and then get in there first with something slightly more restrictive to make it look like she 'cares' more.

It's so transparent and pathetic.

Laiste · 21/12/2021 16:29

Run down of new rules in Scotland:

From 26 December, for up to three weeks, there will be a limit on the size of live public events in Scotland - 500 for outdoor events, indoors 200 seated or 100 standing.

This will mean sports such as football matches will have to take place without spectators and large-scale Hogmanay celebrations, such as Edinburgh's world famous party, will be cancelled.

The restrictions do not apply to private life events, such as weddings.

From 27 December for three weeks all hospitality venues in Scotland will have to operate on a table service only basis if they serve alcohol.

Groups of people will be limited to three households.

The Scottish government intends to issue guidance that non-professional indoor contact sports for adults should not take place during the three-week period from 26 December.

Ms Sturgeon confirms the advice for Christmas remains unchanged.
But from 27 December she asks people to go back to limiting contacts as much as possible and to apply this to New Year socialising too.

htfdth · 21/12/2021 16:29

@vera99 👏 that would be superb sort of ..

freckles20 · 21/12/2021 16:31

I noticed this too on today's' survey. Absolutely transparent.

I didn't even know they could get 500 people together in Scotland. How many people live there anyway? Grin
the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 16:39

Hogmanay is a big deal in Scotland. It is sad seeing the scaffolding being taken down in Edinburgh :(
