A place to check in each day and support each other.

I tested positive today, now awaiting PCR results. I have severe asthma so slightly apprehensive about how this will go. Currently asymptomatic but starting to feel a bit 'glandy'.

How are you Flowers ?

Thanks for starting this thread.

Myself and dd tested positive on LFT currently waiting for PCR results but feel achey and cold like symptoms. As a health anxiety sufferer I am feeling nervous and anxious this evening. Thanks to everyone else

Inchagoill · 18/12/2021 21:58

Hi bananaandoears

I am sorry you are feeling so nervous but it is entirely understandable. If it helps, My DD (12) tested positive on Tuesday morning and is happy as Larry with no symptoms! This gives me hope.

I am currently trying to get through a shed load of marking so it is all done before I (if I) get too ill. Probably would go quicker if I wasn't procrastinating on Mumsnet Grin.

Hand hold needed! Symptoms since Tuesday but negative lfd all week (symptoms weren't classic, sore throat, dizzy, tired, headache), took a PCR Friday (had severely aching body at this point), LFD this morning faint positive and PCR result received this afternoon positive.
Now have an upset stomach.
Worrying if there will be more symptoms, what they will be, and when they will come

YourWinter · 18/12/2021 22:14

DD had a positive LFT today and PCR booked tomorrow, double jabbed in spring/summer and her booster was booked for this coming week. Single mum to a 5 yo who's with his dad for the weekend, hopefully able to go back to his mum as usual. So sad that their many plans for the week can't go ahead but hopefully they can celebrate quietly on the day and make it more social when she's better.

All the best OP.

Thank you for starting this thread @Inchagoill 💜

Tested positive today on LF and ordered a PCR now. Health anxiety veteran and panicking slightly. Got aching legs, headache, sinus issues and slight temp so far.

Sending hugs and Wine to everyone.

DewDropsonKittens · 18/12/2021 22:24

I got a positive PCR today. As the day has gone on I feel horrendous.

Shivers, feel cold but am hot according to husband
Whole body hurts
Throat is so sore and my chest feels very tight.
Loss of taste too

I'm double vaccinated as well. Feeling very sorry for myself

CherrieBlossom · 18/12/2021 22:39

Oh no @DewDropsonKittens I totally relate. I feel worse as the day has gone on too.

Have you been taking painkillers? Try to rest as much as possible Flowers

Inchagoill · 18/12/2021 23:46

Welcome all. I am sorry to hear you are feeling unwell. Don't forget to keep hydrated and hopefully we can all get a good rest tonight.

Thanks for the Wine @CherrieBlossom. I am now chugging the caffeine as still working.

@PickledWilly @DewDropsonKittens sounds like you are getting the full whammy Sad. I hope this is the peak of it for you both. Rest up if you can Flowers

@YourWinter its tough isn't it, my DD12s birthday plans had to be cancelled and now our Christmas plans too. We have been making a jar of all the things we are going to do when this pandemic stops (and another jar to collect money in to fund it all). It's helping the kids to stay positive. Hope you all stay well and your DD and her son can enjoy a nice Christmas together.

I tested positive today and had Covid back in January but this time it feels very different. In January I felt awful with low oxygen levels which meant I had to go to hospital for the afternoon to get checked out and I felt wretched with high temperatures and muscle aches (wasn't vaccinated then).

This time round I have had all 3 jabs and so far my symptoms (which started on Thursday) have been more like a head cold. I feel thick headed, snotty and have a sore throat but no breathlessness thank goodness. I'm praying this is the worst it will get.

Hope you all get a good night's rest.

Inchagoill · 19/12/2021 08:06

Good morning! A cuppa for everyone - tea, coffee or lemsip?

How are we all feeling? My neck was very stiff and sore when I went to bed last night but this morning I'm just very bunged up. No PCR results yet but I know they'll be positive so it doesn't really matter. I wonder if track and trace will ring today about my daughter? She had positive lft Tuesday morning but her PCR results only came yesterday evening.

@Icequeen01 It's interesting to see that it is very different for you since being vaccinated (I suppose it could be a different strain too). I am glad you are not feeling as bad this time.

Morning @Inchagoill
As I got into bed last night my bones were mildly aching, especially my legs. Had a surprisingly good sleep. Still waiting for PRC results but pretty certain they will be positive as both mine and DD LFT are positive.

I also had covid in October 2020 and it's definitely different this time. Im double jabbed now and was due my booster today but have obviously cancelled. I'm wondering if dd wouldn't have tested positive would I have even thought anything of my symptoms as they are so mild (it's more my anxiety that is a problem for me) lol! I'm hoping it stays like this x

I meant to only quote the second part of your message but I don't know how to do that lol.

It is encouraging to hear that symptoms are so far milder for you and icequeen since being vaccinated. I hope that gives some on here some comfort Smile.

Joining in, dd positive pcr on Tuesday, I've tested positive on lft this morning going for pcr later, double jabbed and so far symptoms like mild cold, fingers crossed it stays this way 🤞🏻

Icequeen01 · 19/12/2021 09:21

I hope this might give some reassurance to people.

I work in a tiny SEN school. We have 15 members of staff and so far 11 of us have tested positive since Thursday with another one now reporting symptoms so almost certainly going to be positive. Most of this group had Covid in January and we all just have cold like symptoms this time (so assuming it is the new strain). There are only 2 of us who have had our boosters so I do think this strain (for us) is much milder.

Inchagoill · 19/12/2021 09:40

@milliememum welcome and glad you are not suffering too much!
@Icequeen01 wow - 11 out of 15 of you have gone down with it. I'm glad it seems to be milder and hope the staff and any kids don't get too poorly.

Totally off topic but DD7 has just discovered all her and eldest's stocking presents Xmas Sad. We only give cheap tat and chocolate (very hard to find for DD given her allergies) but we are isolating - do you think Amazon does stocking filler sets like they do party bag stuff?? Nightmare!

OP posts:
CherrieBlossom · 19/12/2021 11:20

Hello all, I’ll take a Lemsip please @Inchagoill

So glad to hear everyone is doing ok-ish and only having mild symptoms. Oh no that’s not ideal her finding the stocking presents! 🙈 I think Amazon will do something, or maybe if you just type in “stocking gifts” or filter it to under £5 there may be some things you can get to replace them. The joys of playing Santa, I remember it well!

I’m feeling absolutely awful this morning, it’s basically like flu which I’ve only had a couple of times before. Trying to drink lots of water and not panic but it’s so difficult as I’ve been fearing this since the early days of Wuhan.

Hugs to everyone for getting through the day

MotherQueenXeno · 19/12/2021 11:41

CherrieBlossom I feel the same, flu like and truly awful. I can barely move off the sofa, I really didn’t expect it to hit me this hard. Work in a school and have spent the last two weeks getting coughed on so I am not surprised. Still feel nervous though despite being double jabbed.

CherrieBlossom · 19/12/2021 12:00

@MotherQueenXeno oh no, so sorry to hear this. Yep totally relate to that feeling of barely being able to get up. It must have been so hard being in schools this past year and a half, I can’t even imagine what a worry it’s been for staff. Hoping today is the worst day for you and it’ll start getting better from now on.

MotherQueenXeno · 19/12/2021 12:18

Thank you, I also hope it is the worst day. I think it is the fear of the unknown…of knowing it is not ‘just’ a cold. Good luck to you and I hope you (and everyone else on this thread) feel better soon

Icequeen01 · 19/12/2021 12:24

I too work in a school @MotherQueenXeno and 11 out of our 15 staff have tested positive over the last 3 days. It was the same in January when we all got it. I'm 60 now and really am beginning to think it's time I retired. I've also got an elderly mum who I see daily and the worry about her catching it from me is getting too much now.

Bellybutton88 · 19/12/2021 13:51

Hi Ive tested positive too since Wednesday. Am too in need of a bit of handholding. Symptoms include cough, congestion, feeling weak, and fast heart rate. Am still testing positive today in the LFT
Hoping a speedy recovery to all.

bananaandoears · 19/12/2021 20:03

How is everyone doing.

I've had my positive pcr result as expected so on day 3 now and just feel a bit groggy, achey and tired. Fingers crossed it stays like this. We will be free from isolation 27th December I think

voxnihili · 19/12/2021 20:22

I tested positive on LFT today. I work in a school too. We’re specialist provision and been open throughout - can’t believe I’ve lasted this long and now got it for the Christmas holidays.

Same here but this is my second time. Not surprising really when we can't use masks or socially distance in any way.
