I'm DONE with Covid, omicron and want to get on with my life - is anyone else with me?

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:47

Honestly at this point I'm done with it, I'm surprised people are complying so much with mask wearing and everything else - I thought the vaccine was freedom. Turns out I was wrong.

I've had enough - I'm not wearing my mask indoors and hope if there's a lockdown every business keeps its doors open and boycotts the decision.

I'm really surprised people are being so compliant, even if they have natural immunity and have been jagged (I have now had Covid and both jabs)

I can't be selfless anymore and keep getting boosters to protect others and stopping life, constant anxiety, life I feel should be going on now. Enough sacrifices have been made.

Aware I'll get flamed, but at the end of my tether with all of this now.

There are plenty of diseases that kill people, we have to accept the death rate now enough is enough.

If you've been vaccinated then what else do you intend to do? If you haven't then more fool you.

Every one is fed up of it.

Pandemics last years - you need to reframe your mindset and come to terms with it.

ILoveHuskies · 16/12/2021 21:42

Completely with you OP

Aloha7373 · 16/12/2021 21:43

No one’s stopping you? Take your mask off, go see friends, stop getting boosters - literally who/what is in your way?

strawberriesarenot · 16/12/2021 21:43

@DaisyWaldron

I'm done with these stupid road safety laws. If I want to go to a party, drink a dozen cocktails and drive home, I'm just going to do it. I hope that pubs and restaurants will ignite any rules and just keep serving me. I can't carry on being selfless and staying sober or forking out for taxis just to protect other people. People die on the roads all the time, even with sober drivers. We have to accept the death rate. Enough is enough.

I'm also considering shitting in the street rather than go through all the hassle and stress of finding a public toilet, which is often so dingy and unsanitary that shitting in the street is probably less of a health risk!

I'm fed up of sacrificing my comfort, convenience and happiness to public health.

I'm with you. Every day I see shops full of stuff I can't afford, it's just sitting there taking up space, next time I'm nicking it.

As i see it, civilisation is full of rules I don't want to keep. I hate my neighbours' cats and don't see why I can't poison them. They shit in my garden and kill my birds.

I'm absolutely pissed with driving on the left, too. It's dangerous, they don't do it in Europe, every time I come back I get muddled up all over again.

I actually have covid, right now. And I too have had enough, and tomorrow will go out and cough on all the unvaccinated idiots, CEV people who can't be bothered to hide in their back kitchens and my immunosuppressed friend whose surgery was just cancelled last night.

FanGirlX · 16/12/2021 21:44

I'm happy to have vaccinations- now triple jabbed, wear a mask, social distance but I don't see why we need a full lockdown again. I really hope it doesn't happen because the one last year battered my mental health and turned exDP into an alcoholic.

chaosrabbitland · 16/12/2021 21:45

i feel the same op , i complyed before , but not this time around , im not wearing a mask , i will do the social distance bit , but thats it , had my vaccines , cant get the booster anyway as the website says its too busy , try again later, its been days now and its still saying same ,

i am fed up with it all , and sick of this goverments lies and subterfuge to keep us all complying , and yes im surprised so many just readily comply esp now , even the south african goverment has said they think the uks response to it is over the top , and if people were not going nuts getting themselves fucking tested for every little sniffle then we wouldnt have the hysterical responces from the goverment and media about the rising cases ,
the thought of the next 4 or 5 years like the last 2 are really quite unbearable ,

and i agree people seem to have forgotten theres other stuff you can die from , not just covid , but then everyones so busy worrying about dying now they have forgotten about really living anyway

DSGR · 16/12/2021 21:46

Agree with everyone saying if too many people get sick then services break down.
The NHS might hit run out of beds but if too
Many staff are sick, who is going to look after you when you get Covid or have a heart attack?
Who’s going to deliver your groceries, answer the 999 calls to the police?
You might on an individual level be done with it but a pandemic does what it does before it goes away. Luckily we’re mitigating it’s impact and desire to cravats mass death with vaccines.
It WILL end

ChequerBoard · 16/12/2021 21:46

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

Vaccines are how we get out of this

So we were told but how many are we supposed to have? I've had my first 2 and the booster but I don't intend to have one every 3 or 6 months. As far as I'm concerned this weeks booster is it for me, I can't keep doing it.

Why not? What's the hardship for you having a booster even it's every 6 months?

This sulky toddler shit is so ignorant. There are countries where vaccines aren't available and here we are with our first world privilege wanting a fucking medal for turning up at the vaccination centre.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:46

@strawberriesarenot what would you say if the speed limit reduced to 20mph to save people dying in road traffic accidents? You'd say you'll take your chances - why is this different?

Gosh, I know just what you mean.
I'm DONE with being severely short-sighted. Just want to get on with my life. These glasses hurt my nose so I'm not going to wear them from now on.

loveandkindness · 16/12/2021 21:47

Agree op, covid will never go away. Mutations will keep on happening. There is simply not enough info about omicron to justify the measures they are asking us to take.

Vaccines will never keep up with the virus mutations. In fact, world prominant epidemiologists have been warning that mass vaccinations and mask wearing will create an environment where the virus will evolve into a more virolent and spreadable form. Viruses are cleverer than us.

We should have been focusing on effective early treatments of covid and let the virus weaken naturally.

Cosmos123 · 16/12/2021 21:47

I still believe that everyone's life is worth protecting so I'm not fed up with the precautions if it can save just one life it is 100% worth it.

DSGR · 16/12/2021 21:48

No scientist thinks we will need boosters every 3-6 months. It WILL calm down

Theworldisfullofgs · 16/12/2021 21:48

strawberriesarenot

I'm with you. We should all just help ourselves to stuff in shops. Rules are boring.

WTF
DismantledKing · 16/12/2021 21:49

Viruses are cleverer than us.

Speak for yourself.
They evolve, they’re not ‘clever’.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:49

@chaosrabbitland exactly and now there aren't even any tests left, cant even book a booster.

It's a complete joke now. The NHS buckling is obviously something I'd rather not happen but like I say - how long should that be a threat to us? Those of you so sure pandemics end after three years, what happens if it doesn't? If this is is something superhuman strength virus that takes longer?

There are no credible epidemiologists who are recommending against vaccination of the general population

I'm so sick of people bleating 'When will it end? When will it end?' and stamping their feet and saying they're 'done' with covid.

It's a pandemic. A virus. It will end when it ends. As all pandemics do.

Until then, if we all get the vaccinations, follow the advice, and try to be considerate and kind to our fellow humans, we just might get through it with some sanity.

ravenmum · 16/12/2021 21:52

For those asking how this comes to an end, here's a basic explanation:
www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/science-and-technology/2021/08/how-will-the-pandemic-end-the-science-of-past-outbreaks-offers-clues

HailAdrian · 16/12/2021 21:53

Yeah i agree, it's not our fault the NHS can't fucking cope, why should we just accept we may have to 'lock down' every now and again? That should never be standard and I absolutely will still see family and friends if we're told we're not allowed. 🙄

ItsSnowJokes · 16/12/2021 21:53

So because people comply with the laws and rules you think we haven't had enough? We have all totally had enough, people are grieving loved ones who died alone be it from covid or something else, people are not able to family and loved ones who live all over the world, people have missed births and marriages, people are totally fucking fed up with it but we comply to help out each other. I hate that this pandemic has split the country and shown people how selfish others can be. You carry on OP but don't expect any sympathy if another "sick of it" person infects one of your loved ones and they become ill.

LobsterNapkin · 16/12/2021 21:53

Yes, OP, it's stupid.

The thing is a lot of people are telling themselves that at some point we'll "be out of this" and the pandemic will subside.

They're wrong, though. Covid will not go away. We can mitigate somewhat with vaccination, but that's about it. We will continue to have people who get it every year and some elderly or ill people will die.

I suspect there may be a sunk costs element to their thinking. They've given up so much, if they don't get the unrealistic outcome they imagined, it will seem like it wasn't worth it.

The pretending that the dark side of it all is just people who don't like masks is pretty annoying as well. The impacts of all these measures are increasingly significant as time goes on.
