On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

OP posts:
middleager · 15/12/2021 16:47

Covid - 1 (I've had it as have my family)
Restrictions and overreactions -9
School closures - 9 as both kids are in GCSE year.

Twopenny · 15/12/2021 16:48

Covid: 3 - though with reports of Omicron being both very infectious and very mild, I now have hope that the end is in sight. Hopefully omicron will blast through everyone, without killing people but giving us all immunity, and so will out compete the deadly strains.

Christmas being cancelled (through people having to isolate, if not restrictions from the government): 8 - it means so much to my wider family, especially some of my older relatives..

Twasacceptableinthe80s · 15/12/2021 16:48

0 for covid - Have had it twice and ill but not desperately so, despite being double jabbed (and actually felt worse when i caught it the second time post vaccine). Felt like shit with the jabs too.

9 for the prospect of restrictions, more boosters that make me feel like crap and apparently don’t protect me brilliantly either,, school closures and the dwindling chances of life ever returning to normal.

FavouriteMug · 15/12/2021 16:49

Triple vaxxed now but with underlying health conditions but on a personal level I around a 3.

But in terms of how much the shit is about to hit the fan and the implications for the country - I'm at a 10.

I have been managing to rationalise things for months now but today, I just feel sick with anxiety.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 15/12/2021 16:49

A big fat 0.

Gonnagetgoing · 15/12/2021 16:51

0-1 for Covid. But I see my DM on a fairly regular basis and she's very immune comprised (shielding?) as she's got 2 conditions. I am immune compromised too but fairly healthy.

6 for restrictions - hope there won't be any more but think there will be.

speakout · 15/12/2021 16:51

For myself- 2.
For my DD as an intensive care nurse-10.

JanisMoplin · 15/12/2021 16:52

Are all of you very young and healthy? No middle aged buffers like me married to other middle aged buffers?

For me: Covid:6- 7
Restrictions: 10

Papertrail392 · 15/12/2021 16:52

DappledOliveGroves I live in fear and compliance because I'm CEV, if I caught covid there's every chance I'd be extremely ill with it. How can you 'hate' that I feel that way? This is my life, I value it and I dont want it loose it.

Not particularly young, but as healthy as I am able to be within my control.

Yes, 31 and healthy, already had Covid and it wasn't bad at all so I'm in no way scared of catching it again.
polkadotpixie · 15/12/2021 16:55

COVID - 0 (had it, mild cold symptoms)
Restrictions/Lockdown/Other Bullshit - 9

Rosemaryandlemon · 15/12/2021 16:56

0 for getting it

4 for restrictions

8 for impact on NHS. I have a child with health problems (but not such I am worried if he got covid) and additional needs. After nearly a year we have finally got a doctor to take them seriously. He is meant to be having scans on Friday and then appointments first week of January. I am waiting to be told they are all cancelled as "non-urgent".

I'm in my late 50's. DP is 50 and has an underlying health condition. We are both still not worried about getting covid.
Claudethecat · 15/12/2021 16:57

Personal risk if I get Covid -2

Possibility of chaos caused by Covid if lots of people get sick at once -5/6

Effect on the NHS -10

Effect on the vulnerable (from covid itself, from the effects of Covid on services and the NHS)-10

JanisMoplin · 15/12/2021 16:57

I am healthy with low BMI but DH is cv. Hence 6 -7.

I’m 45 had covid last year felt like shit for a few days and tired for a few weeks. Jab one a week of feeling a lot worse than covid. Jab 2 appears to have triggered inflammation . Trip to hospital, dairy allergy and pain in joints, 2 days out from booster feel shit. Wish I hadn’t bothered. So covid -as in getting Ill is not the main concern now, not by a long shot.
sarah13xx · 15/12/2021 16:58

I’m not so worried about restrictions as I feel like I’m quite fortunate to have dogs and enjoy being outdoors, not really one for big nights out so I felt like I was one of the few having quite a nice time during last lockdown. I always happen to hate my work so was so relieved to be away from there for a while 😅

In terms of covid and the new strain now I think I’m about a 7/8. I seem to be more anxious about it than most people I know and I feel like I have to try and justify decisions a lot to people who want to keep saying the classic lines of ‘we need to get on with life’ etc etc. I’m not so much scared of dying of it myself but I haven’t had it yet and have a baby so my biggest fear is getting it and passing it to him, especially when we don’t know how children cope with this one

RantyAunty · 15/12/2021 16:58

2 for Covid. I don't like being sick. Have booster scheduled for next week.

Restrictions, lockdowns, isolation. - 10

LookslovelyinSpringtime · 15/12/2021 16:59

Covid 1
Restrictions 10

DappledOliveGroves · 15/12/2021 17:00

@Papertrail392 but why Covid (particularly if mild like Omicron is supposed to be?) Not meaning to have a go but genuinely curious. Why not worry about flu, colds, norovirus? Or anything else that might kill you like cancer or a heart attack?

I'm sorry that I'm selfish and heartless but I'm of the view - and always have been - that if your number's up, then it's up. I've lost enough people in my life to know there are no guarantees of good health or a 'nice' death at a ripe old age. Whether that's made me cynical or whether I've always been fundamentally selfish is a moot point - probably a combination of both - but I genuinely can't support any form of lockdown or restriction and never have.

There are absolutely no guarantees in life. My friend's 2 year old dropped dead suddenly last week out of the blue. I might be killed tomorrow by the proverbial bus, some random virus or any other thing. I will not live my life in fear of death.

NotQuiteUsual · 15/12/2021 17:00

O. I've chosen to stop looking at the news as much as possible. I get rough updates about restrictions coming in from here. My mental health is in a decent place finally, I'm not risking it again.

CoffeeMuggins · 15/12/2021 17:00
  1. Look at the confirmed cases today. This is really fucking bad.
Zandathepanda · 15/12/2021 17:01

10 Getting covid and not being well enough to look after Dd during her nighttime seizures.
9 Dd going to school and sitting in crowded classrooms with pupils who are in households with active covid cases.
10 Dd getting covid.

It’s a different world for those of us with medically vulnerable children.

Roselilly36 · 15/12/2021 17:01

0 I have never been worried about the virus

10 for the impact on people’s lives, MH & freedoms.
