On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

Covid, whichever variant 1
Restrictions 10

Zotter · 15/12/2021 17:04

Healthy people are not scared of covid anymore.

Long Covid can affect healthy people and can be v debilitating in some.

“1.2 million in the UK have LongCovid. (ONS) of which

  • 862,000 for at least 12 weeks
  • 439,000 for at least a year
  • 775,000 said Long Covid affected their daily activities
  • 232,000 said it limited their daily activities “a lot”
HereticFanjo · 15/12/2021 17:04

4 out of 10 for Covid because I know people who are really struggling with the after effects especially those left with no taste or smell months on. Such a simple thing we take for granted.

10 out of 10 for healthcare access and the staff working in healthcare. Not a good few weeks to have a heart attack / car accident.

Pickles89 · 15/12/2021 17:05

For me, 3. I have ME and don't know how it'd affect me long term, but it's highly unlikely to kill me. I want the vax but I'd rather wait til mid Jan.

For my parents, 8. They're older, already have long Covid and my mum is immune compromised and not fully vaccinated. I live with them a lot of the time and do worry I might give it to them.

For the human race in general, not at all. If we made it through losing up to half our population during the black death and yet continued to burgeon, I don't think there's any risk of humanity becoming extinct.

Threat of covid 0
Threat of restrictions/lockdown/school closure 100!

MrsPsmalls · 15/12/2021 17:07

Quite worried. Triple jabbed and have had covid and was properly ill. I would hate to be that ill again. Not vulnerable, not overweight, in my 50s

AuntieMarys · 15/12/2021 17:07

Not worried about Covid at all. Double vaxxed plus booster, in our 60s.
I am concerned about the impact more restrictions will have on the economy.

Beachbreak2411 · 15/12/2021 17:08

10 for another lockdown and having to home school again..

7 for catching COVID (I’m double vaxxed.. I don’t have time to get the booster yet; will have to wait until new year) but I work in hospitality and we have heating on full blast and no open windows.

littlepeas · 15/12/2021 17:08

Not even slightly scared of covid - 0.

Restrictions/lockdown - 8/9.

Zotter · 15/12/2021 17:09

Also will share stats for Long Covid in children:

‘77,000 children, aged 2-16, now living with #LongCovidKids in the UK.

This has increased by +8,000 from last month. (Dec 21)

2-11 : 23,000
12-16: 54,000

Of which 14,000 have suffered for more than a year.’

Ghoulette · 15/12/2021 17:10

Covid, about 4.

I am generally more worried about the awful state of the UK at the moment though. Inflation rising, wages not, Key workers not wanting to work because of shit wages and being treated like shit, especially over the pandemic.

Housing - no one can afford to rent OR buy anymore and all Boomers and greedy landlords are doing is whining about how unfair any changes would be on them Hmm

I'm just fucking sick of it all. I made a massive effort to improve my financial and job situation only to feel like I am about to be dragged kicking and screaming back into poverty because I can barely afford to rent and pay bills YET AGAIN because of prices of fucking EVERYHING rising, a large part of which is down to boomers and fucking landlords.

Whats the fucking point anymore?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/12/2021 17:11

@CoffeeMuggins

10. Look at the confirmed cases today. This is really fucking bad.
If it's mostly a mild illness, then the number of cases doesn't bother me a jot.
Leftbutcameback · 15/12/2021 17:11

I don't even know anymore. I go from very low (2) to more like a 6. Triple vaxxed, had mild covid in October. But I'm CEV with damaged lungs and the thought of them being damaged more does scare me. I had the way we are living now. I am so lonely WFH. So I feel confused.

keysonthetable · 15/12/2021 17:11

Covid - level 5 (not quite triple vaxxed yet)

My CEV family members contracting Covid - level 8 (although they are triple vaxxed)

Effect of covid on NHS should any of my vulnerable family/friends need treatment for covid OR a non-covid health crisis = off the scale

And this is why we're scaling back Christmas plans and sincerely hoping that others will do the sensible thing too. Our family meet ups will require negative lateral flows in the preceding days run up.
We're going to re-run our New Year's Eve Zoom quiz night which was great fun last year as who knows how high the numbers will be by then. We've all been freeeeee since July so I don't feel it's too great a hardship to endure a short self-imposed "lockdown lite" over the holiday period if only to try and ensure that schools and businesses can re-open in the new year.

popapoppadum · 15/12/2021 17:12

Covid worries - 0

I'm more worried about the effect it will have on other services. DH has some worrying lumps that are under investigation and there's already been massive delays to get him ultrasounds etc. If it's cancer then I expect more of the same delays for treatment.

Chakraleaf · 15/12/2021 17:13

Tomthumbsbigbum · 15/12/2021 17:18

Covid for myself and the children - 0
Covid for elderly relatives - 8
Covid restrictions/lockdown/economy/mental health/domestic abuse/child abuse/children's education/life being shit - 10 I'm so done with it.

waterlego · 15/12/2021 17:19

@Onegingerhead

Covid-wise - 1 Lockdown, societal consequences and such - 10
Exactly this. I’m not worried about getting the virus. I had it before I was vaccinated and it was mild for me. I’m double vaccinated now and having my booster on Saturday.

Extremely worried about the continued impact the virus is having on our lives, especially the lives of our children and young people. DD is in year 11 and I really hope she won’t have to miss any more school. Worried about my job too as the industry I’m in is suffering badly. Worried about the NHS. Worried about our collective mental health.

Catching the virus itself is the least of my worries at the moment.

Needaweekend · 15/12/2021 17:20

0 for Covid

10 for restrictions

CoffeeMuggins · 15/12/2021 17:21

@Waxonwaxoff0

I don't think you get how this works. If we end up with hundreds of thousands a day, the hospitals will be overwhelmed, even if it's incredibly mild in most.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/12/2021 17:22

9 because I am due to have a badly needed operation on Monday and if it doesn’t go ahead I am looking at more months of not being able to do anything and possible scary hospital admissions.

It’s purely about NHS overwhelm. People saying ‘but it’s a mild illness’ are missing the point. It’s bad enough for enough people to potentially stop people getting urgent treatment for other things that are not mild.

1910username · 15/12/2021 17:23

Those who say they’ve had Delta.

Do you know because you were told? Or are you assuming it because of when you had it??

We all had it at home at the end of September, but I can’t recall us being told what variant it was.

Thanks!
