On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

OP posts:
siestalady · 15/12/2021 16:24

1 for covid
9 for impact of restrictions

480Widdio · 15/12/2021 16:25

Covid 0.

NHS10,things I am hearing now are petrifying now.

DappledOliveGroves · 15/12/2021 16:25

Not scared of Covid. I had it in August. I'm now nearly 8 months' pregnant, had both jabs and have a cold at the moment that's probably worse than Covid was. Half the people I know have Covid now and I'd say the majority of people I know have had it at some point - no ill effects amongst any of them, ranging from newborn to those in their late 70s.

What does terrify me - and has done from the outset- is the restrictions and lockdowns and the way people have accepted these. I have never and will never accept this way of thinking. I'd give my right arm to move somewhere like Texas now. I hate how people live in fear and compliance over here.

Figgyboa · 15/12/2021 16:25

Covid - 1
Restrictions- 9
My industry has been hard hit by covid and I doubt it'll survive another lockdown.

LittleBabyCheeses · 15/12/2021 16:25

@Yellow85

Just to say, isn’t it amazing how our views are so drastically different to that of 2020. We’d all have been a 10 for catching it.
No. I never had any fear of catching it. The statistics always showed that I was at very little risk of severe illness.
MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2021 16:25

8 for the relentless freaking out people will do over case numbers

Arethechildreninbedyet · 15/12/2021 16:25

@Onegingerhead

Covid-wise - 1 Lockdown, societal consequences and such - 10
This.

The societal impact of shutting down for another year will far outweigh the deaths that Omicron will cause. Possibly not instantly but it will.

Mental Health issues, lack of hospital treatment, misdiagnosis of illnesses, isolation of vulnerable individuals, job losses, growth of poverty etc.

ElectraBlue · 15/12/2021 16:26

O. If I catch it then so be it. This hysteria has to stop.

SoSickOfItNow · 15/12/2021 16:27

Worried about catching it and passing it on to CEV DH - 101/10

sadpapercourtesan · 15/12/2021 16:28

I'm about a 7 for covid, as I am clinically vulnerable and so is my elderly father (yes, he's elderly, but I love him dearly and his death wouldn't be a statistic to me!)

I'm about a 9 for restrictions, as I have a son with ASD at university and doing A-Levels on Zoom nearly broke him, he's just started making friends at uni and to get stuck at home for months would be heartbreaking. I also have a 17yo with ADHD who had to switch to a BTech because he couldn't cope with A-Levels on Zoom at all. He's doing well now and I'm terrified of what will happen if he has to revert to online learning.

So I feel quite shit at the moment. But I still have it better than many - am comfortable at home with no major financial worries and a family I enjoy being with. Can't imagine how awful it must feel for people in a worse position, dealing with loneliness and lost livelihoods etc. Sad

Vanillaradio · 15/12/2021 16:28

Covid-1 we've all had it with fewer symptoms than the vaccine caused and dh and I are triple vaxed.
Restrictions-9 I don't think I can take another lockdown or a cancelled Christmas.

SueSaid · 15/12/2021 16:29

8 - I'm just hoping it will peak and we'll be over it quickly.

Worried for my parents more than us. We're all jabbed and boostered but as we all know which such massive numbers the hospitalisations will start to rise.

It is all just so relentlessly horrible, especially with Christmas coming.

StruggleStreet · 15/12/2021 16:29

3/4 - I’m trying to hold my nerve until we know more. I was in full panic mode at the start of the pandemic and I refuse to let myself get that worked up again.

Watapalava · 15/12/2021 16:30

always been a 0. Not sure why it took so long for common sense to kick in

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 15/12/2021 16:31

Covid itself (ie personal illness) - 2
Fallout from restrictions, lockdowns, etc - 9 or 10

Viviennemary · 15/12/2021 16:33

2

Constance1 · 15/12/2021 16:33

I’m not worried I am just exasperated. So 0 for covid, but 10 for more unnecessary restrictions. If the NHS had been properly funded and Brexit hadn’t driven away scores of medical professionals we wouldn’t be in this state.

MrsCremuel · 15/12/2021 16:33

All in all, 6 and rising. Not worried about getting Covid, booster booked and have no underlying issues but the restrictions scare me. I have a newborn and a toddler and dread another winter in lockdown.

PicsInRed · 15/12/2021 16:33

2 for Covid. Depends on variants.

8 for democracy, freedom of movt inside our own borders, and our previous way of life.

10 for the border between Ukraine and Russia.

Coffeetwosugars · 15/12/2021 16:33

@Papyrus

7 - not so much about catching it myself, but I am concerned on the knock on impact on societal infrastructure if millions are off sick at once. Will hospitals be adequately staffed? Will supply chains hold up? Will there be the police and fire service if you need them? Will there be enough council staff to keep local services going to support the vulnerable?

It doesn't take much for the impact to be felt and things to fall apart quickly.

This. Also concerned about passing it on to my DF or PIL. I've now had 3 vaccines and although it massively reduces the chances of catching and spreading it there's still a chance.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/12/2021 16:35

@IndigoC

I think things are going to get wild over the next month with a lot of disruption to services but there’s science and anecdata starting to trickle through now that has me hopeful Omicron might genuinely be mild. I have hope that this blasted pandemic might end for the first time in ages.

I agree.

But in terms of how worried I am about my mental health and that of others around me...that's a good 8 or 9 at the moment.

Booklover3 · 15/12/2021 16:36

Probably about a three

Derbee · 15/12/2021 16:36

Covid 3 or 4

The emotional and financial damage of lockdown (especially when I’m due to give birth in the new year) 10+
