What are you reasons for not getting the booster?

@whitedahlias Yes I'd like to know exactly the same. I'm within 28 days of getting Delta (after 2 x AZ) so can't have the booster at the moment.

I'm still not right and also reacted badly to the two initial vaccines. I won't be taking the booster until NY at the earliest as I don't think I can take even more illness just before Christmas.

I feel I don''t have the information to understand what is best for my circumstances.

Maybe astrology is how he comes up with his predictions - would make sense when you look at how wildly inaccurate they always are!

Thank you for providing a great example of scientific illiteracy. You don’t seem to understand the difference between forecasting when you have very little data upon which to base your assumptions (which was the situation Prof Neil Ferguson was in in March 2020) and recommendations based over a years’ worth of vaccine data and nearly two years of Covid data. Can you really not understand the difference?[/quote]
Neil, is that you?!!!! If only his prediction in March 2020 was the only one he'd got wrong. Didn't he also predict 100,000 Covid cases a day were inevitable by July 2021? Also very, very wrong & by that stage he had plenty of data (or astrological charts - who knows?) to badly misinterpret. And don't even get me started on his bird flu prediction in 2005 where he stated up to 150 million people could die (in the end I think it was about 282). He has a long history of making very big errors. What I don't understand is why we're making the very big error of still listening to his nonsense. With any luck somebody will buy him a new calculator (this time one that works) for Christmas.

Booster dose to become requirement of vaccine passport (or negative LFT... for now.)

Flapjak · 13/12/2021 17:11

How are we meant to get herd immunity if people have gaf covid plus two vaccinations and are still not immune enough?

GloriaSicTransitMundi · 13/12/2021 17:46

First UK death from Omicron variant just announced. Get your boosters...

First UK death with not from omicron variant.

First death with Omicron not from Omicron its an entirely different thing.

If we are going to start panicking everytime someone dies with something rather than from something you better hope you don't get grey hair I bet the rates of people dying with grey hair are astronomical!

Those rates of people ding who are unvaccinated are definitely

No I'm not getting it , I was so ill from the 2nd jab I was almost hospitalised . I'm a single parent no help or support from anyone so no I won't be putting myself through a 3rd. I'll take my chances.

Single parent must be especially hard during this trying time, sending a hug to you. @Inthesameboatatmo
Inthesameboatatmo · 13/12/2021 18:48

@LifeIsWhat. Thank you that hug is most appreciated Smile

@Inthesameboatatmo

I think that’s an entirely valid reason. I can’t imagine how hard it is being ill as a single parent, let alone one with no support. Absolutely no judgement from me

And it emphasises the importance for all of us who can get the booster, to get it, as it will help get to herd immunity. This essential as some in our community cannot get the jab or for the minority who have very little protection even if they are jabbed.

All these people refusing a booster, I take it you’ll also refuse NHS care for Covid? Genuine question

Nousernamesleftatall · 13/12/2021 19:02

The booster cannot help towards herd immunity. If it did the first two would have worked.

Sounds like a slippery slope to me.
Nerdygirl · 13/12/2021 19:06

I am not having a booster and the WHO don’t seem to think we need one either

We didn’t get to herd immunity because around 20% of the population did not get their jabs. Whilst there are some who legitimately cannot get the jab (therefore driving the need for herd immunity) there are others who have refused based on either selfishness or ignorance. It is evident that many in this thread are refusing despite being able to get it, so yes you are probably right, we won’t get to herd immunity because of these dimwits.

But on a personal level I can’t wait to get my booster on Thursday as I want to spend Christmas with my elderly father (who has had his booster) and I want to make sure the chances of me giving him covid are as low as possible.

KatyRebecca84 · 13/12/2021 19:09

Not yet. Had first two Pfizer. Effected periods.

Don’t see why we are having another so soon if the first two have done their job.. we weren’t told we would be needing them every 3 months initially so it worries me how many we’ll end up having!!

megustalacerveza · 13/12/2021 19:10

It's just mindblowing that the same cohort of people who refused to get their jabs and contribute towards herd immunity are largely the same cohort saying how the rising cases show vaccines don't work.

You couldn't make it up.

Vaccines don’t work in the way they were promised to, that’s for sure
megustalacerveza · 13/12/2021 19:23

@hamstersarse don't they? What were you 'promised'?

From where I'm standing, they've vastly reduced deaths to a fraction of what they were and for a long time kept cases at a stable level despite everything being completely open since July. Who promised you more than that?

Scautish · 13/12/2021 19:26

@hamstersarse

Can you seriously not see the impact of vaccines from these two graphs I shared earlier?

Or perhaps having reviewed them a second time, would you like to take back your comment about vaccines not working? Or do you just not understand this data?

Anyone not getting a booster?

hamstersarse · 13/12/2021 19:30

Waning

Leaky

Still transmit in same as unvaccinated

Yes, they have impacted death rates….but more waning than promised.

How you can say they are as anticipated is beyond me. Have you seen the emergency booster programme?!!!

AnotherOneWithNoGoodName · 13/12/2021 19:31

I don't remember any promises being made.
Last time we had this many infections per day, 1000 people a day were dying.
