We really are going to end up with a two tier society. It's actually quite worrying.

I am NOT anti vaxx, just concerned at how we are sleep walking into giving away our hard won freedoms.

@RoseAndRose

What is happening for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons?
They need to show an exemption certificate from a doctor.

I'd like to point out that this ban does not include shops for basic needs like supermarkets & chemists.

(I live in Germany)

@violetskiss

“ And for those who agree, what happens when they want you to do something you don't agree with?”

Well, I already have to do lots of things I don’t agree with because the government mandates them. Surely nobody is living in a perfect world where every law and regulation is exactly to their liking and personal preference? This is such a silly take.

Sure, but if the thing you didn't agree with concerned your body, it might be a bit different?
Innocenta · 02/12/2021 14:47

@fakereview what is it you have in mind for this hypothetical procedure? Hmm

Battenburg77 · 02/12/2021 14:48

More specifically, what you are compelled to put into your body.

Isn't it? What about if you wanted an abortion and were told you couldn't have one.

Or you were made to have an abortion because someone decided you were incapable of looking after a child?

It isn't a silly take at all.

So only non essential shops then, if they are like the ones here not many use them anyway, people can just shop online and Amazon sells most things

girlmom21 · 02/12/2021 14:49

@neveradullmoment99 you can carry the virus if you're vaccinated. You can be ill with covid if you're vaccinated. Being unvaccinated doesn't automatically make you a carrier

toomuchlaundry · 02/12/2021 14:50

I suppose we should be grateful our Government can't organise a piss up in a brewery so would fail to mandate anything like this even if they wanted to

ItsALife · 02/12/2021 14:51

Are doctors happy to give them out over there now these rules are in place? I currently cannot get vaxxed for medical reasons (have tried multiple times and they all say nope) but nobody will write me an exemption letter. I’m beside myself with worry, scared if these kind of rules come over here I’ll be treated like a leper for not having something I actually do want to have.

Not when you have medical autonomy
Battenburg77 · 02/12/2021 14:51

For those struggling to imagine a time in the future that they might want to make their own decisions about their bodies...

If you have a bad reaction to a future booster but couldn't secure a medical exemption from the next one... That would certainly be a problem for you if vaccination were compulsory.

The unvaccinated have already been banned from public transport

This not true. If you are not vaccinated or recovered you need a test certificate to travel on public transport. So if you use it to commute you need to go to a test centre every day and have a LFT done then show the result if asked.

XenoBitch · 02/12/2021 14:51

This is terrifying, and I can't believe anyone would be happy with this.
I really hope (and the teeny optimist in me says) it wont come to the UK. This will just push me over the edge.

Yes, and think also about the self-employed who don't get paid if they don't work, and might not want to keep having boosters which make them ill for a week or more at a time and prevent them from working. Yes they could get covid and be ill but that's an if. Although everyone says we will all get it eventually that is by no means certain.

Well in that scenario it's the unvaccinated that pose the least risk because they are testing every time.

People who are genuinely unable to be vaccinated can get exempted. It's just that a lot of people claim to be unable to get the jab when actually they don't want to...
User63896578 · 02/12/2021 14:54

It will be like this in all he EU soon, it was in the paper yesterday, fortunately we left.

Unlikely it will happen in the UK, and I say that as someone who would 100% support a mandate.

Yes, the covid research group are a bunch of idiots but there is no way they would let something like through.

At least in England. I am not so sure about Nicola S and Mark D. Lets face it Mark Drakeford was the one who tried to tape off all the non-essential aisles in supermarkets last year...

I actually don't have any personal experience of this, but I cannot imagine any doctor here would refuse to do so. Really sorry you're in this position, it seems so counterproductive for them to refuse.
Cyrilgoggin · 02/12/2021 14:55

Fakereview I'm self employed, as are many of our friends. It's the opposite to what you suggest, we've all wanted vaccinations and boosters as we cannot afford to get ill from covid and not be able to work. I paid for a flu jab for years until I became eligible last year as an over 50 for the same reason.

I don't in principle support compulsory vaccination but we do need to find a way to get more people vaccinated. I know people who are desperate to get vaccinated now so they can go on holiday but wouldn't do it before. Bizarre logic.

fakereview · 02/12/2021 14:56

The fact that the German government feels it has to do this means that it has lost the argument. It needs to try much much harder before it goes down the coercion route.

ChristmasKrackers · 02/12/2021 14:56

Awful. I feel sorry for Germany and hope nothing like that ever happens here.
I hope they protest and get it over turned.

The only difference between vaccinated and not is that non vaccinated people “are more likely” to need hospitalisation.

Vaccinated people can still be hospitalised with Covid, they can still get Covid and they can still pass Covid onto others.

fakereview · 02/12/2021 14:58

but presumably they've given you something in writing that says that - I don't mean a formal letter but something documenting that you have been turned away? After all, they may need that evidence too to say why they told you that you could not be vaccinated. I'd ask again.
