Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

Every single day your body copes with over 10,000 antigens. Having the occasional extra ONE in the form of a vaccine will not make the slightest difference - your body will cope perfectly well.

@Beachcomber

Yes *@Cornettoninja*. I agree with you that we all have a responsibility.

I really dislike the current divisions and I'm really saddened by how quickly we seem to have gone from "we're all in this together" to something rather different. I think divisions and labelling around vaccination are really helpful (and sometimes really horrible) and as you say we all have a responsibility to try to properly understand and think about the situation we find ourselves in.

I think the sense of fear that we have is making that difficult but we have to try (and we probably need to work on the fear too).

Sorry to quote myself but just realized I made a stupid typo. I meant to say that I think divisions and labeling around vaccination are really unhelpful

@Potwoman

I don't know anything about Molnupiravir but I did listen to good old Dr Campbell on Youtube the other day saying that he couldn't really understand why such an expensive treatment was being applauded when there are cheaper well established drugs that are very similar.

I haven't had a chance to look into it yet but as you say, taking a step back and thinking about who the message is coming from is definitely something I find myself doing Sad

I'm starting to wonder if we will need several a year from now on.

But also happy to have the flu jab each year, so unsure why this feels alarming to me, maybe I just thought that the jabs were us back to normality, yet it doesn't appear to be the case, 3 jabs in and how many more on the horizon before things are normal again?

Porcupineintherough · 03/12/2021 21:15

@Sunshinealligator I dont think so. As time goes on more and more of us will have partial immunity from previous vaccines and COVID infections and the vast majority of cases will then be mild. I guess maybe the vulnerable will always be offered a jab, bit like w flu but I hope this is a temporary situation for everyone else. Novel viruses dont stay novel for long.
