The covid vaccine, but not the flu vaccine. Although, I suppose the door has been opened for that one now too. They’re being given until spring. I wonder if there will be a massive walk out before winter. If you thought you were going to lose your job come spring, why would you work your ass off all winter? This could majorly backfire.

@bumbleymummy

If you are not infected, you are not increasing the risk to anyone. An unvaccinated person who is not infected is not putting anyone at risk. A vaccinated person can still put their patients at risk if they become infected.

But the unvaccinated person is more likely to to spread the illness to more people than the vaccinated person. An unvaccinated, infected person is 20 times more likely to give you Covid than an vaccinated, infected person.

@FlorenciaFlora YY Funny how not many are talking about DNRs now. Most people on here seem to only be interested in the vulnerable when they can use them to emotionally blackmail others.

Madwife123 · 10/11/2021 23:44

I’m a midwife, and I’m also vaccinated, however what really annoys me is managers pushing people to have the vaccine and then penalising them for side effects.

I had a reaction to both my first and second vaccine, nothing serious but it left me unable to work for a day or two after each one. I was then put on a sickness action plan for having 2 episodes of sickness!

When it came time for the booster I avoided it as my action plan said anymore sickness in the next 12 months I would go up a stage in the sickness disciplinary policy. I had to wait until I had annual leave to have it and then use my annual leave being ill instead.

It really makes me quite cross!

Dishhh · 10/11/2021 23:46

@PickupaPenguin8

Yes it seems to need to be spelt out . The person at risk is the unvaccinated person!

Unvaccinated people are not "at risk". (Except those who could not be vaccinated for medical reasons.)

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 23:48

@Madwife123 thats just fucking bullying. Flowers
And they have the nerve to preach to the public

bumbleymummy · 10/11/2021 23:50

@Dishhh

“Vaccination reduces the risk of delta variant infection and accelerates viral clearance. Nonetheless, fully vaccinated individuals with breakthrough infections have peak viral load similar to unvaccinated cases and can efficiently transmit infection in household settings, including to fully vaccinated contacts. Host–virus interactions early in infection may shape the entire viral trajectory.”

Who do you think is more at risk of serious illness/death? A vaccinated person or an unvaccinated person?

(Controlling for age, underlying health conditions etc)

Well, I don't know, there's something they can do for about that? A choice they can make? There are actual vulnerable, at risk people in our society and it isn't of their choice; I don't appreciate this group springing up saying 'Oh, poor us, we're at risk, we're vulnerable, we need protecting.' And no, it isn't the first time I've heard it.

bumbleymummy · 11/11/2021 00:11

I don’t see anyone saying that here actually. I don’t even think I’ve seen vulnerable people who can’t actually have the vaccine either.

I think the point that the pp was making is that the unvaccinated person is technically more at risk (age/underlying conditions being equivalent) than the vaccinated person. So why is the vaccinated person scared of the unvaccinated person?

Thirty-four per cent of people working in health and/or social care said they were under pressure to put DNACPR’s in place without involving the person. In addition, 71% of advocacy organisations and campaigners said they experienced DNACPR orders put in place or pressure to make them without being involved in the decision

www.cqc.org.uk/sites/default/files/20201204%20DNACPR%20Interim%20Report%20-%20FINAL.pdf

The CQC found examples of inappropriate and unlawful use of DNACPR forms – including blanket DNACPR. They also found that staff incorrectly interpreting DNACPR prevented people getting access to hospital care and treatment. Reports were also received of Care providers seeking to apply DNACPR forms to patients without sufficient discussion or explanation with the individuals and their families

Is it not ironic to some that while we were “protecting the vulnerable” by staying home, the government quietly put a policy in place that deliberately killed thousands of elderly and disabled people?

Forgive me if I don’t want to hand over my health to this government. They cannot be trusted.If that makes me a conspiracy nut I’ll take the label with pride.

Harold shipman was jailed after how many deaths yet we seem to be shrugging our shoulders at this happening on this scale.

milkyaqua · 11/11/2021 00:47

@bumbleymummy

Why do people not get that in a healthcare setting, it is not appropriate to increase the risk of infection to your colleagues and coworkers, or to the vulnerable patients allegedly in your care.

If you are not infected, you are not increasing the risk to anyone. An unvaccinated person who is not infected is not putting anyone at risk. A vaccinated person can still put their patients at risk if they become infected.

Oh, Bumbles! Always a mine of misinformation and half-truths.

An unvaccinated person is (a) more likely to become infected and then - once infected - (b) more likely to spread infection than a vaccinated person would, once infected.

Yes, it's not many, but they do exist, @bumbleymummy. My sibling is one of them.

And I'm not talking about the vulnerable people saying that - it's some unvaccinated people saying that.

If so many doctors, nurses and carers don't wan't it, having been on the front line, it speaks volumes about the jibby jab.

There is no misinformation in my post. I was talking about someone who is infected. Please see above study irt ability to pass it on once vaccinated.

@Dishhh I have never seen an unvaccinated non-vulnerable person say that they expect the vaccinated to protect them Confused.

That’s my point about their attitude, it’s irresponsible and unprofessional because it undermines public confidence in the vaccine.
Lostinacloud · 11/11/2021 08:05

Nope, the fact politicians, diplomats and police forces are not subject to the same vaccine mandates and vaccine passes as me undermines my confidence in the vaccine.

Lostinacloud · 11/11/2021 08:11

One of the things I’ve hated most through this pandemic (and there have been many times when I’ve felt incredibly angry and frustrated) is the assumption that everyone, at all times, could have covid. The amount of times I’ve wanted to stand in a park and scream that “I DON’T HAVE COVID” is ridiculous. Walking around perfectly well but having to be masked, sending my kids into school perfectly well with them having to be masked, being limited to see my own friends and family whilst perfectly well. It’s mind blowing to me that we’ve already given away so much autonomy and these vaccine mandates are an even bigger assault on our lives.

Dishhh · 11/11/2021 09:20

Why misquote me? I didn't state anything of the sort. And I'm not going to repeat myself either. I'm sure they perfectly able to protect themselves.

bumbleymummy · 11/11/2021 09:22

I didn’t mean to misquote you. I thought that is what you meant by this “And I'm not talking about the vulnerable people saying that - it's some unvaccinated people saying that.” Sorry if I’ve misinterpreted it.

That's odd, as the post I responded to said the opposite of that:

If you are not infected, you are not increasing the risk to anyone. An unvaccinated person who is not infected is not putting anyone at risk. A vaccinated person can still put their patients at risk if they become infected.

bumbleymummy · 11/11/2021 11:05

The post you were replying to was in response to another post that I quoted.

“A vaccinated person can still put their patients at risk if they become infected.”

I’m not talking about the whether or not they are more/less likely to be infected in the first place (remember, some people may have immunity after infection) just the risk that they pose if they are infected. You have to be infected to be a risk to anyone.
