I've just had Covid, my DS gave it to me and the whole household, he caught it from a boy on his table at school. The boy at school caught from his Nan who's a TA, who caught it from a child in her class. All the kids were infant age in so masks not applicable.

So I'm just wondering really all this hysteria about wearing a mask in the supermarket when really it's about very close contact transmission - sitting with, reading with, cuddling, lying in bed together, eating together.

I (most likely) caught it from my dc, who caught it from school. Though I may have caught it from a child in my own class. Both classes had siblings attending with cases at home who then went on to test positive themselves, after spreading it round the class first.

No idea, I have children at school, I go out to bars/cafes/supermarkets/restaurants etc, I go to work… could have come from anywhere.

Trisolaris · 22/10/2021 18:32

Back at the beginning of the pandemic before lockdown I was in a hot tub with my best friend. The next week her office was locked down due to a confirmed case, then she got symptoms, I got symptoms a few days later. My dp lost his sense of smell and taste but was otherwise fine. Couldn’t get a test so don’t know for sure it was covid but seems very likely. All close contact other than my best friend and her colleague but back then social distancing wasn’t happening yet!

steppemum · 22/10/2021 18:33

I caught it from dd, aged 13.
She caught it form a girl in her class who had 3 positive LFT but then a negative PCR test so came into school WITH SYMPTOMS!!

We are in the area used by the lab giving false negatives on pcr, so it was pretty certain that her negative pcr was wrong.

If her parents had used a tiny amount of common sense, they would have kept her at home because of symptoms.

Loads of girls in dds class then got ill. Surprise, surprise they all stayed at home.
I got it from dd.

steppemum · 22/10/2021 18:34

Not sure about close transmission though, dd1 and dh didn't get it. Both had daily tests while dd2 and I were ill.

Tatum1234 · 22/10/2021 18:35

I caught it from my children who got it from school.

BlibBlabBlob · 22/10/2021 18:45

Either from DD or DH. DD was the first to become ill, by a couple of days, so it's likely DH got it from her. She caught it from school.

YourThoughtsOn · 22/10/2021 18:48

From my 13yo dd. Who caught it at school - lots of kids coming to school without testing unfortunately

itbemay1 · 22/10/2021 18:50

From DD she had it and was isolating in her room, then collapsed in shower and her isolation ended with me pulling her out to get her treated. After that I had confirmed PCR and DH and DS all decided none of us were going to keep away from each other and just take our chances. DH and DS didn't get it. DD was fine after a few awful days.

Soyouthought · 22/10/2021 18:50

Dds boyfriend who is a chef and the whole restaurant was shut down as so many cases.

Maxstrong · 22/10/2021 18:50

Yer ma

RainBow725 · 22/10/2021 18:51

From my DS while we were isolating. He caught it in the pub 🙄.

DayKay · 22/10/2021 18:51

From ds at secondary school. It was inevitable really as everyone in the school seemed to be getting it. They were hardly at school due to the contact isolating they were doing.

OddBoots · 22/10/2021 18:53

At a comedy gig last month - the first event we had been to since March 2020. We wore masks but most people didn't and as we know masks mainly protect others and only protect the wearer a little bit.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 22/10/2021 18:53

From DD. Who caught it from the hospital (household isolation and a negative PCR test prior to an operation make it almost impossible for it to have come from anywhere else).

Looneytune253 · 22/10/2021 18:57

From my dad. Beginning of pandemic he popped in one day. Sat on sofa about 1.5m away. He got poorly the evening after that, me the next day and hubby the day after that. No tests available back then but my dh got very very poorly and has subsequently had a pos antibody test.

Scramblinghealingdreaming · 22/10/2021 18:59

All our household caught it from our teenager who caught it from his best friend at school, who caught it from his sister in another year at school who caught it from her classmate ....

All verifiable as we werent in contact with anyone else at all.

NettleMania · 22/10/2021 18:59

Last December.
Caught it from DH and the only place he could've caught it from was hospital as he was isolating.

Justwingingit2005 · 22/10/2021 19:04

DS2 brought it home to gave it to DS3, Dh and I. Ds1 never got it.
DS2 said the lad he sits near in one lesson had been coughing for a couple of weeks and when he was asked about the cough said his mum and dad didn't believe in all this testing Confused, but I can't say it came from this lad but I raise my eyebrow in suspicion .

Trinacham · 22/10/2021 19:05

A colleague. My husband never caught it from me when we were sharing the bed and still being close (his LFT said positive, so we carried on as usual, only to find his PCR negative after) so doesn't necessarily mean the closer you are the easier it transmits! Lots of households i know where only 1 member caught it.

Bookridden · 22/10/2021 19:06

Caught it from teenage DD, who presumably got it at school. Could have been prevented if she'd been jabbed in time, grr.

If he had a positive LFT he did catch it from you.
Trinacham · 22/10/2021 19:10

His PCR was negative and he never had any symptoms. If he had it too he most likely caught it from the same colleague as the 3 of us were working together that day.

Whyarewehardofthinking · 22/10/2021 19:10

First time in Feb; DP who caught it from a student.

This time; a student. A large number of our year 12s have it and I had previously reverted to only going to work, getting shopping delivered, no family visits due to the numbers at school. Same for DP at his school. DP, and both DDs are testing negative so far so it has to be a student again.

Trinacham · 22/10/2021 19:10

And the LFT was taken on the same day I took mine.
