According to another thread on here anyway.

Has anyone else heard this?

On the other thread it sounds as if it will be in 2 weeks time.

the Government are just making this shit up as they go along. They give one set of guidelines and then bring out another set which undermines the first set and so on and so on on it goes.

Penfield · 04/10/2021 13:36

Ah - I see. I don't keep track of who thinks what blah blah blah

But thank you for your reply. I agree, it's all being made up as we go along.

I'd be worried about these passports and losing freedom/human rights whatever - if I didn't know that the government was so chaotic and useless.

It will all be fine.

There is a lot of evidence that insisting on vaccine passports encourages the undecided to get vaccinated.

French, Italian and German vaccines rates all rocketed upwards when vaccine passports were introduced.

The fewer unvaccinated people there are, the more difficult it is for the virus to circulate.

The more vaccinated people there are, the lower the demand for hospital beds and intensive care support.

That benefits us all.

I'd agree with that.

Covid passes are the reason we have such high rates of vaccinations in young people (18-29) in Ireland. If they wanted to be able to eat/drink indoors, they got vaccinated.

I totally agree that the more vaccinated people there are the lower the demand for hospital beds and ICU etc.
I still don't agree with Covid Passports or someone feeling they have the right to demand to know if you are vaccinated before they will allow you into their house etc.
As I have said, I have been totally aghast at the attitudes on MN regarding vaccinated v unvaccinated. Some posters attitudes on this quite frankly stink to the high heavens and are total nonsense.

I'm double vaxxed btw.
But by god I'll not showing anyone anywhere my medical info to gain entry anywhere.

itsgrand · 04/10/2021 13:56

@OchonAgusOchonOh

I have been in various parts of Southern Ireland, in restaurants and pubs etc and have not been asked at anytime if I was vaccinated. Nor have anyone I have been with.

So why are you promoting awareness of the covid pass for those who can't be vaccinated or tested if you don't think anyone should have to show a pass?

I don't live in southern Ireland but visited Cork (a city in southern Ireland) in August and everywhere asked for the covid pass. I live in western Ireland and most places ask. My ds lives in eastern Ireland and most places ask.

However, as the passes will not be needed from October 22nd, a lot of places are getting a bit lax. When they were first introduced in June, I think it was, many young people got them asap. I know most of my dc's friends, ranging in age from 18 to mid-20's got it in order to be able to get in to places.

Oh, and if you are using to term "Southern Ireland" to mean Ireland, rather than the part of Ireland that is in the geographical south, you should be aware that many, many Irish people find that term offensive. The name of our country is Ireland and I would appreciate you using it.
