To think that unvaccinated people whining about rights and freedoms when they can’t go to a concert

Are entitled? I am so sick of hearing the vaccine hesitant / covid deniers say that it makes no difference if you’re vaccinated, so they should be allowed to go around doing exactly what they want even though they don’t care about the effects on other people or don’t believe the virus exists.

The government has not said that they will restrict medical treatments or impose financial penalties on people who don’t get vaccinated. I wouldn’t agree with that. That would be taking away rights.

But I personally don’t think that it’s a god given right to attend clubs, theatres and to go on holiday if you refuse to comply with health measures at the height of a pandemic.

People think.lots of things. They still have a right to decide what they put in their bodies whether we like it or disagree with it or not.

I’ve never said otherwise.

Oh fuck off @SomewhereSouthOfHeaven**

Why are you swearing?

What do people mean by anti vaxxers? Anyone not having the vaccine at all? Anyone except medical reasons? People who don’t think covid exists?

Lemonsandlemonade · 20/09/2021 08:22

Couldn’t agree more literally had someone say to me yesterday that Covid vaccine is a way of the government making a dictatorship 🤔🙄

SomewhereSouthOfHeaven · 20/09/2021 08:22

OP, I don’t understand your thread title. Why do you think unvaccinated people can’t go to concerts when they can?

MajorCarolDanvers · 20/09/2021 08:24

Crazy illogical people acting crazy isn't surprising really.

The OP clearly doesn't think that. The subject is the non vaccinated who are "whining".
Sunnyfreezesushi · 20/09/2021 08:24

Thankfully in England so many people have had the vaccine that anti-C vaxx is less of an issue than in other countries. So I am not sure we need the restrictions/Covid passports. They are used as a deterrent and stick to get people to have a vaccine rather than a proper health measure- as in vaccinated persons can spread the virus too.

The issue is more that people not having the vaccine of a certain age and with risk factors like obesity are endangering themselves and the NHS. They are usually victims of fear, anger, internet propaganda and lack of education. They are typically not in the privileged higher income classes. So looking down on them only exacerbates the problem. It is better to be patient with them so they come to their senses.

Droite · 20/09/2021 08:24

I think it is totally reasonable to make front line health workers be vaccinated but not so sure about commercial premises

I don't have an issue with commercial premises, because ultimately anyone is entitled to control who goes onto their property. So long as they don't exclude those who have a genuine reason not to be vaccinated.

Well if they’re whining, they’re unreasonable, because there’s nothing to whine about. They can do everything that a vaccinated person can.

Yep.

@Itsnotover

Why make people go through health theatre just to have some fun? Stay home if you’re worried and let the rest of us get on with our lives.

Oh ok, it's the self serving who should be able to get on with their lives. I've heard it all now.

It's frustrating for NHS staff to keep seeing people admitted to hospital because they didn't have the vaccine. Im pretty sure they can't 'stay at home' then they get exposed to a higher viral load tooHmm

I’m sure it’s also frustrating to get the same people in OD’ing or having a diabetic episode. You don’t treat them any less in that NHS.

And yes, you get the vaccine for YOUR OWN protection. You can’t expect other people to do inconvenient things to protect you.

Geamhradh · 20/09/2021 08:29

A drug addict overdosing doesn't stop me visiting my mother in her carehome. A diabetic doesn't stop my child going to school.

Straw man arguments.

SomewhereSouthOfHeaven · 20/09/2021 08:30

Yep.

Sooooo....then could OP please explain the point of the thread. If people are whining that they can’t do stuff, can you not just say ‘but you can’. Because they can.

MyMabel · 20/09/2021 08:30

@MaggieFS

On the contrary; part of my family has just caught covid; all of the double vaxxed have tested positive but the two kids (one too young for the vaccine, other of age but hasn’t had it for whatever reason) haven’t tested positive despite them living in the house with them. I found that a bit bizarre. Glad they are double jabbed though as they all said they’re feeling pretty rough which may well have been much worse without the vaccine.

Point being, the vaccine isn’t 100% effective at stopping the spread, not does it 100% protect you from catching it at all; it does however protect you from the severity of the symptoms.

UsedUpUsername · 20/09/2021 08:30

@EmeraldShamrock

It is like the vegan joke "how do you know if someone is vegan? They'll tell you. Now replaced with anti vaccine crew. I actively avoid certain people. I don't care with they do with their life personally, it is the daft horror stories and fakebook news they enjoy spreading that annoys me.
Lol I find the opposite. They love to discuss which one they got and maybe what boosters they’d like.

(I’m vaxxed btw but can’t stand these restrictions on normal things)

@hamstersarse

Those calling for unvaccinated people to lose standard citizen rights are as crazy as those who think the vaccines contain microchips

2 sides of the same coin

I agree, both camps have lost their minds. I also think vaccine passports are the thin end of the wedge. Anyone who thinks giving this vile incompetent government that kind of power is a good idea wants their head read. All reason seems to of gone out of the window and been replaced with hysteria.

I also blame the government for all the conspiracy theories. If the rules weren't so obviously illogical and they didn't lie at every turn, people might take them more seriously and not try to rationalise with conspiracy.

@TartanJumper

I absolutely agree they have the right to choose not to be vaccinated. Up to them. Their freedom and choices end when they start to affect others, IMO. If a large enough % choose not to be, then we're back at square one (no herd immunity) and that affects everybody. Consequence- they can't go to places where they are likely to be in close contact with a large amount of people. Seems fair to me.

Absolutely this ^

Anon778833 · 20/09/2021 08:39

It’s really sad that some people still see getting vaccinated as ‘inconvenient’

A bit hypocritical to talk about borderline terrorism then post that. Anyone can write a short story for goodness sake, stop scaremongering Hmm

I agree with this, pretty much. But I think the reason for all the inconsistency is that we have a Tory government who doesn’t really like helping the vulnerable or shutting the economy.

I mean, remember how at the start of the pandemic they just wanted to let the virus burn through the population, come what May?
