Liklihood of another lockdown?

Yes I know nobody can tell the future. But I'm just wondering what the general consensus is/ how likely you think another lockdown is? I'm hoping worst case masks again.
I want to start my daughter back at a club she went too, we stopped because she doesn't get on with zoom lessons and it was a waste of money during lockdown. Worth signing her back up or waiting a bit longer?

New treatment approved for use by NHS which should help cut the risk of death

Possibly this article from the future....

Sounds really positive. I wonder if people are likely to reject this experimental treatment if offered it Wink

Thanks. Working with something related with it so wondered whether it would be it.

Two of the residents in my dads over 55s complex died “with covid” recently.

One died of a blood clot after a fall, the other died from complications after surgery to remove a tumour.

They didn’t have any covid symptoms at all, but tested positive while in hospital.

So there are many ‘covid deaths’ like theirs too where covid had nothing to do with it and they wouldn’t have been tested for it had they not been in for other things.

The trouble is that it's not black and white. Covid itself causes abnormalities in blood clotting, and an ongoing covid infection makes even unrelated surgery more dangerous than it would be otherwise. Covid puts you into a state physiologically where clots and complications are more likely. It makes you more likely to have a stroke, for instance. Lots of things that seem on the face of it to be 'not-Covid' could still have been caused or made worse by it.

That’s really great news

i wonder if people are likely to reject this experimental treatment if offered it

I find it very interesting the difference in people’s response to vaccines versus treatments. The psychology is fascinating.

DumplingsAndStew · 17/09/2021 18:41

@TheKeatingFive

It really is. If anyone knows of any studies that have been done into it, I'd love to read.

What even is "Long Covid"? I mean, it currently seems to cover anything anything from mild lingering symptoms to post-viral organ damage. I keep hearing "it could cause autoantibodies" but there seems to be absolutely no evidence for that whatsoever at the current time. On average it takes years for somebody to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder even when they do have serological markers, but to be diagnosed with Long Covid you have to fill in a questionnaire. No wonder the figures are a bit skewed. So anyone can say "800 a day" etc., but I humbly beg to disagree.

@Jourdain11

Oh dear- prepare to be burned at the stake for that comment.

Time to go and get the popcorn 🍿

Meh, if I'm really such a witch then I can just perform a freezing charm on the flames! Wink
