Good. We need to end this madness. It's a good decision.

sashagabadon · 12/09/2021 10:00

Great news, I was optimistic this would happen but you can never be sure.
There’s just no need for them when you have high vaccine uptake in the high risk groups and over 50’s anyway

Hairwizard · 12/09/2021 10:01

Thank fuck. Some fucking sense.

someusernameorother · 12/09/2021 10:01

Although I am very, VERY glad, I am entirely unsurprised by the government doing a u turn. Not like them, is it? Now if they could u turn on their decision to force all care/NHS staff to take the jab... but then, they really really want to destroy the nhs so they can make it appear not fit for purpose and sell it off. Less convinced about that particular u turn

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 12/09/2021 10:02

Thank goodness for that.

TheQueenOfDreams · 12/09/2021 10:05

Good. I might have thought it was a good idea if vaccines stopped transmission but they don’t do it seems pointless.

Mydogdoesntlisten · 12/09/2021 10:09

Great news.

CarrieBlue · 12/09/2021 10:11

Terrible news. We had ways and time to reduce infection numbers and every single time we squander the chance.

TinaYouFatLard · 12/09/2021 10:13

A victory for freedom and common sense. However, I fully expect the government to U-turn again and reintroduce the idea when we are even more morally beaten down. Probably after another winter of punishments.

WitchBaby · 12/09/2021 10:14

Thank God for that.

bigknickersbigknockers · 12/09/2021 10:19

Great decision

TempsPerdu · 12/09/2021 10:22

Good news to wake up to this morning - sanity prevails for once.

Frederica852 · 12/09/2021 10:25

This was always going to happen surely? They only did it to pressure young'uns into getting vaxxed

Narutocrazyfox · 12/09/2021 10:29

Finally, some common sense!

ILookAtTheFloor · 12/09/2021 10:30

Great news. So pleased about this.

marieantoinehairnet · 12/09/2021 10:36

When they said it was a covid winter plan I think we all misread that as a preventative plan... everything I'm seeing seems to suggest we are going all out for an expansion plan!

Itsallabouttea · 12/09/2021 10:37

Thank Christ for that, although I wouldn't put it past them to u turn again. Makes absolutely no sense when these venues have been open for months and so many double jabbed are getting and spreading covid. A negative test pass would have made far more sense.

Nappyvalley15 · 12/09/2021 10:37

Here's hoping they do abandon plans for vaccine passports.

sleepwouldbenice · 12/09/2021 10:37

@TheQueenOfDreams

Good. I might have thought it was a good idea if vaccines stopped transmission but they don’t do it seems pointless.
They do reduce it significantly though. Hey ho

Expect the same people celebrating this to kick off when they lose “freedoms” in a few weeks

Plump82 · 12/09/2021 10:43

I'm really glad this has happened for England and can only hope the idea is abandoned for Scotland as well.

CrunchyCarrot · 12/09/2021 10:46

Excellent news.

BigWoollyJumpers · 12/09/2021 10:48

You'll need them for the rest of Europe though, no point going on holiday if you can't access restaurants and entertainment venues.

sashagabadon · 12/09/2021 10:52

Denmark has dropped requirements for a vaccine passport though and I would bet many other EU countries follow suit once they get their vaccination levels to a certain percentage.

Cakeofdoom · 12/09/2021 10:54

Good, buy why ?
