Only 300 people under 40 have died. Source for all UK Covid-19 deaths broken down by age - where to find?

I heard from a senior contact in industry, who knows some of the most prominent figureheads for the pandemic response in the UK, that to date, less than 300 people aged under 40 have died since the start of the pandemic.

Other countries have very transparent data on this where deaths are broken down in small age brackets and by absolute numbers (not as a % of the total number of deaths or % of population). Is there something similar here? If not, why not?

Where did I say they didn't matter? I only had the number for the under 40s but I would like to have stats for all age groups. I like data and it is available in other countries.

Of course not but it is interesting, is it not, that the figure is so low? It does put into perspective that certain groups have been made to be fearful, much more so than necessary.

I know of a young man of 39 who died of COVID.

I don't think his wife, his 2 children, his sisters, his Mum, his friends are really that bothered if he was one of 300 or one of thousands or the only one. He has left a huge hole in the lives of so many.

Please can you send the link - I'm looking for total number (not percentage) of deaths since the start i.e. how many people died in the 0-14 bracket, how many in the 15-19 bracket etc. Not per week, not a percentage or proportion of the total number of deaths. The actual number for each bracket.

I don't know why you're acting like this data is Impossible To Find. It's not. It's on the ONS site. Me linking it just makes it seem like it needs some specialist skills to find. It doesn't: you just need to type the search term into a search engine.

Bit uncalled for, isn't it. I only asked for data - yes, a bit of a provocative title, perhaps, but why are we kept in the dark when many other countries are given much more granular, easily-accessible data. Or do we, in the UK, prefer to have wool pulled over our eyes?

Just to clarify, I'm a massive vaccine fan but I do think we need to take a step back and, actually, we may need to look at the data, excess mortality etc etc in 2-3 years time to evaluate which of the measures were necessary and/or made a difference. But that's for another time...

Searched and I find freedom of information requestions and various data sets for set periods, not the total number of deaths (actual numbers) by age group, for the duration from the start of the Covid until now. Please do elucidate this for me!

A tragedy, certainly, but the response was not to ban concerts in case of further deaths. Curtailing freedoms is not normally how we respond to tragedy.

You make it sound as if 'other countries', apparently so much more transparent about their data than ours, have therefore been completely unfearful and decided it would be a complete overreaction to bother trying to prevent the spread of this virus which mostly only kills unlucky old over-40s. Is that the case?

55 - with an underlying condition which means I was in one of the risk group and receive the flu jab

I think that number is out of date, I seem to remember the same figure being quoted about a year ago.

According to this www.menshealthforum.org.uk/covid-19-statistics-england-wales it's over 1600 between 15 and 44 (I don't think it's actually broken down into under 40s in ons data).

Also according to my calculations on that, if I'm reading the link I looked at correctly, under 300 is quite a substantial underestimation.
So I think your contact might be misremembering, or Billy Bullshitting you.
