So...whose did a whole year without burst bubble?

From September to July, neither DD had a burst bubble at school or a day off through illness. They didn't attend school between January and March.

I realise this is down to good luck. But I'm intrigued... how lucky was this? The media and other platforms have made it seem like that children were constantly isolating.

(For full disclosure... their father was an essential worker who worked outside the home throughout the past 18 months... and only had to isolate once for 24hrs after mild symptoms while awaiting test results.)

We've gone the whole year withput a bubble bursting in the whole school (primary). Still a few days left though so not counting my chickens just yet (and there has been a case in one year this week, but doesn't seem to have impacted a bubble).

My phone seems to have deleted the word children from the title. Please don't pick up on the appalling grammar...

Mine managed it, East Sussex

Deliaskis · 21/07/2021 12:08

Same here, no bubbles out in DD's whole primary. Can't quite believe it...last week or so it seemed inevitable as rates are high here.

Greenfieldsandpaddocks · 21/07/2021 12:10

Mine did but they did have time off for being ill - twice symptoms and negative PCR. Pure luck. DD has gone in today she is one of only 12 left in her half of the group who are not isolating

NuffSaidSam · 21/07/2021 12:10

Three out of four DC did the whole year with no burst bubbles. All high school.

The one at primary school was out once from a burst bubble.

daisybrown37 · 21/07/2021 12:11

Well there is still one day left - but so far my Year 3 and Year 6 bubbles have not burst.

School have had 3 bubbles burst - one December last year and then 2 more recently.

As a family we have isolated once - very early on H got a cold and his work put it as suspected covid. This was before we could get tests. It was just a cold - he was better the day after!

Yup. Amazingly!

igelkott2021 · 21/07/2021 12:12

My son managed to get though the school year without needing to isolate - that was in a sixth form college - and he got a bus to and from college every day. They seemed to manage it very well.

moynomore · 21/07/2021 12:12

Mine did. Hertfordshire. Very small school though and primary.

RaraRachael · 21/07/2021 12:12

School of 370 - we did the whole year without a single case.

IloveSooty424 · 21/07/2021 12:12

We have managed a whole year at my son’s primary in Year 2. The school had its first Covid case in Reception class last week and they’ve all been sent home early for the summer break. It’s a small village school though and I’m sure that makes a difference, although local Covid cases are sky rocketing here in North Staffs well above the winter peak. I have no idea what the autumn will hold.

lauren234 · 21/07/2021 12:13

I'm a teacher and my bubble didn't burst, also my little girls nursery hasn't had any cases

Spacecadetagain · 21/07/2021 12:14

Dd just finished year six at primary - they never had to isolate thank goodness as it’s a tiny school with thirty pupils so it would have burst the whole school bubble

MrsBungle · 21/07/2021 12:14

Neither of my children were in a burst bubble. Very lucky. Especially DD as she is in a secondary school with 2000 pupils and gets on the school bus twice a day.

Gotofriggingsleep · 21/07/2021 12:14

Reception aged DS's bubble has burst twice (last week being one of them) both due to staff illness. The Year 4 bubble burst once but it didn't impact on DD, as it was in Feb when there were only a few pupils in.

RubyGoat · 21/07/2021 12:14

DD's primary school only had their first bubble burst about 6 weeks ago. Then again, a different class, last week.

DowntonCrabby · 21/07/2021 12:14

Neither of ours have had to isolate, one primary with zero cases and one secondary with about 10 cases between Aug-Dec and April-July.

nc8765 · 21/07/2021 12:16

Since nursery school reopened back in June 2020, we haven't had one single closure due to Covid. Literally zero cases at the nursery.

A couple of families had to self isolate but no confirmed cases in the nursery itself.

Central London.

HSHorror · 21/07/2021 12:16

It will also depend how compliant with testing the parents are.
Our school had 3 cases dec-mar.
Now about 8 cases in 2w. bOth dc bubbles and altogether 4/8 year groups. But in exponential area.
Several illnesses.
Op all that means is youve already had covid hit the are a or will be very badly hit in sept this year.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/07/2021 12:22

Yep, rural school, all one bubble. No pops, thank god.

Scottishgirl85 · 21/07/2021 12:27

I dream of the day I never hear the phrase 'burst bubble' ever again. It's so annoying! Grin

WASHI · 21/07/2021 12:27

Practically all of the south but none in the north!

CruCru · 21/07/2021 12:29

None at our school (central London)

CoodleMoodle · 21/07/2021 12:34

DD had to isolate twice, once at the end of November and once a couple of weeks ago. And she didn't attend Jan-March. She's just finished Y2.

DS's preschool closed just as he was about to start in Jan, but he didn't have to isolate because he wasn't there, just had to wait until they opened again. There were no closures until last week, now we're on Day 10 (and what should've been their last day...).
