Is anyone NOT getting the vaccine?

JC2021 · 20/07/2021 19:53

Anyone on here choosing not to receive the covid-19 vaccine?

I am undecided, but resistant.

My reasons; you can still become infected and spread the virus. How sick you might become would depend on your immunity, your age/health.

So, in my mind the only good the vaccine 'may' do (no guarantees) is prevent you getting very ill. Although, even this is still not guaranteed.

So the vaccine may reduce the change of you becoming really ill.

Fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus unknowingly to others, the same as unvaccinated.

@squiglet111 The UK chief scientific advisor Patrick Vallance said that 60% of people being admitted to hospital with covid have had both doses of the vaccine.
Shall I continue?

@Spud13

The guy I was looking after on covid ICU today said he wished he'd got his! 🤔
Flowers for you, @Spud13. Thanks to you and all your colleagues for everything you are doing. It must be so frustrating to know that many people who are seriously ill now could have avoided this by taking the vaccine, but didn't. I linked above to a BBC news article about this. Fit, healthy, active people who thought they would shake the virus off if they got it, so didn't bother getting vaccinated, and ended up in hospital in ICU or on oxygen therapy.

I totally understand women who are pregnant, or trying to conceive, or breastfeeding, not wanting to be vaccinated at present while it's not totally clear how it affects the baby. I totally understand people with certain health conditions not having the vaccine on medical advice.

That makes it all the more important for people who could have the vaccine safely to go on and get it done. It's for the protection of the whole community.

He later, 2 hrs exactly, on his Twitter 😂 said he made a mistake, 40 per cent were jabbed, still a huge number.

Covi, feel free to pm me x

Emmmie · 21/07/2021 08:07

Covi, I am in the exact same situation, except with a 5 month old. I cannot visit my family either (including my eldest daughter). You can also PM me if you wish.

covi · 21/07/2021 08:07

@Heyhohi I know he corrected himself but I don't believe him. I believe he first said the truth and then they realised of the impact it had on viewers. And as politicians do, let's just change the story as these statistics shouldn't have been allowed on a press conference
I mean I call this bs

covi · 21/07/2021 08:08

@Emmmie and @Heyhohi how do I pm you? I had a look but can't see how to do it xx

Totally with you on this, but had to say that as some other poster would have took you that:-) he actually was explaining for a long time why such a huge number makes sense!

godmum56 · 21/07/2021 08:10

@Flowerlane

I am not getting the vaccine at this stage. Worked all the way through the pandemic in contact with many people and haven’t contracted covid. Majority of people locally who are ill with covid have been doubled vaxxedHmm
can I see your stats for this please?
Blessex · 21/07/2021 08:12

My colleague’s nanny got it. In her 30s. Refused the vaccine. Is currently very unwell and in hospital. This means my colleague needs to pick up the pieces and look after her DS and so cannot work - impacting on HER full team around her. My colleague and her DH also have Covid. But they are double jabbed so one has no symptoms and the other has a mild cold.

See how one person’s decision affects so many people around them. Hospital workers. Other workers. Parents.

Athinginitself · 21/07/2021 08:19

But a huge number does make sense because say if 100% of the population were vaccinated then 100% of people in hospital with covid would also have been vaccinated. At the moment its 40% but as more people get vaccinated that number will increase.

squiglet111 · 21/07/2021 08:22

Thanks. Was about to say this

And he explained why any right thinking person would understand that is inevitable

Do you know how many double jabbed people didn't get admitted to hospital who would have done without the vaccine?

Your arguments don't stand up to any scrutiny

squiglet111 · 21/07/2021 08:22

Thanka. Was about to say this.

RampantIvy · 21/07/2021 08:23

@traumatisednoodle

I am not having it. All this co-ercion is making me even more sure that my decision is the right one. No come back if it all goes wrong, masses of people with life changing injuries as a result. the vaxxed getting more ill than the unvaxxed. Will be endless boosters etc being pumped into your body. Plenty of reasons to not have it

If you are a barrister I feel sorry for your clients. How can anyone with a logical rational mind believe this ?

I have read loulouljh's other posts on covid. I find her extreme anti vax and anti mask views extremely worrying, especially when she has complained about how covid has negatively affected her lifestyle. So hypocritical and completely lacking in common sense.

It strikes me that all these anti-vaxxers need to have some maths lessons in statistics because they clearly don't understand the risks of vaccination vs being ill and possibly dying from covid or suffering from long covid.

At the moment we have a free choice to vaccinate or not, but with freedom comes responsibility - responsibility towards the rest of society, particularly the more vulnerable.

squiglet111 · 21/07/2021 08:23

Ugh. My quotes aren't working. Was a quote saying he said it was 40%

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/07/2021 08:28

I tend to agree with you about not preaching, but I'm fed up today. The Delta variant is spreading and affecting us all again, threatening to make the vaccines less effective. Cases are rising everywhere which means that even more dangerous variants will appear. And everything because a significant part of the population refuses to understand, misinterpret, and make up lies about the science. They are responsible for the deaths of people, and it needs to be pointed out.[/quote]
I agree with you, @berrylands. I can see the UK going back into lockdown in the very near future if we can't get the vaccination rate high enough. It's intensely frustrating that people are focussing on the small risks from the vaccine and resolutely ignoring the far higher risks from getting the virus.

ivykaty44 · 21/07/2021 08:30

berrylands Thank you for answering the question

I think the side effects appear favourable to any of the viruses. I really don’t understand the thought process on waiting to see what happens long term. Covid long term looks already a disaster for the human body

Omg! Are you serious? Double jabbed people do get admitted to a hospital too!

It’s the fact that people think they are some kind of heros getting this vax and that they are invincible. Wait til places are open only for the vaxxed and we will get the real picture.

squiglet111 · 21/07/2021 08:33

Lol I'm not stressed or anxious myself @tiari! You seem to believe that the vaccinated are anxious...but merely pointing out if we were anxious, it wouldn't be because we had the vaccine. I for one am relieved I am now double jabbed.

Oh just released this was a requote. @heyhohi.... I'm not stressed or anxious myself thanks. Yes the NHS has always been overwhelmed, but covid has made its services practically non-existent. Each wave cripples the NHS and stops it doing anything else apart from care for the sick covid patients. I hope that if there is another wave after this, all the people that want their jabs have been able to have them, so the NHS doesn't need to stop it's normal running to care for the covid patients.

JassyRadlett · 21/07/2021 08:34

At much lower relative rates based on risk profile.

squiglet111 · 21/07/2021 08:35

Bryonyshcmyony · 21/07/2021 08:35

I don't know anyone with serious vax side effects, including my 18 year old dd who had two doses of astra zeneca. I feel a lot happier being double jabbed and my family being double jabbed. If other people are happy to live without that peace of mind then that's fine. My parents don't believe in it and haven't had the jab, they are happy to never go out or see anyone, but they are very odd antisocial people so this is like manna from heaven for them.

JassyRadlett · 21/07/2021 08:37

Would you tell it to 1400 who died from it?

Could you share your source for this figure, please?
