So the PM and chancellor aren't isolating even though Javid is positive, as they are taking part in a pilot programme. Ive heard it all now.

Never thought I'd say it but

Enough is enough.

I don't see piles of talent out there to vote for. But nice to see someone is optimistic!Flowers

ilovesooty · 18/07/2021 12:01

@milkytwilight

Rishi announced half an hour ago he appreciates how unfair it must seem, and is therefore going to isolate.
I suspect Johnson didn't want him to have whatever moral high ground they thought they could retrieve.
Metabigot · 18/07/2021 12:01

@sashagabadon

I heard that they will continue working from 10 and 11 Downing Street which are their respective homes. I think this is fine. Both doubled jabbed. Life does have to go on
Never knew health Secretary lived at 11.. does he flat share with Rishi??

Why do you all get so angry before checking the facts . other employers have signed up . And if it works. It will be rolled out .

It’s a TRIAL

Let’s hope it works and everyone including schools will be able to take it up .[/quote]
But it won't need to be rolled out come 16 August as most people will be exempt from self isolation unless positive anyway.

venusandmars · 18/07/2021 12:04

It took 157 minutes for them to make a U-turn. Must have been some backlash!!

IF they were part of a genuine pilot they would have been randomly assigned to the daily test group or to the control group (isolating). But now Johnson and Sunk have themselves decided not to be part of the group they were randomly assigned to.

Or perhaps they were not taking part in a genuine trial [hmmm] Confused

PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 12:05

Sounds like a situation comedy set in a ministers' enforced flat share during a Downing St. refurb is due.

Wooollffff · 18/07/2021 12:06

The pilot scheme does exist, my DD is on it. However there is only a 50:50 random chance of being selected, the alternative was self isolating at home as normal. Even so she is only allowed out for ‘essential’ activities such as work, not socialising and she is in a small flat in 30 degree heat.

However the fact that the PM/chancellor were automatically included in it makes it blindingly obvious it they were not part of a scientific trial and it was just a two fingered gesture to reinforce the fact that the rules don’t apply to them. Their belated U turn looks even worse.

52andblue · 18/07/2021 12:09

@noblegiraffe

Participants in the study are placed into one of two groups at random.

One group does self-isolation as normal. The other does daily LFT testing.

So what are the odds that Boris, Rishi and Gove were all allocated the daily LFT group at random?

Yer...

So, it's a Real Scheme.
And yes, it does make sense for those 'running' our country to continue to be able to do so, so it makes sense for them to be selected to be on it.

however, it feels like a massive Gaslight-y FU to everyone else.

Scotland is virtually a on party state
No effective opposition and no criticism ever from SNP MSPs of their glorious leader

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 18/07/2021 12:15

Anyone trust anything they say or do anymore? I hope the scientists are more independent, transparent and pure factual without any political spin and gagged if not masked. Barnard Castle was a joke this is just constant gaslighting now albeit with random last minute u turns and making it up as they go along destroying lives and livelihoods like England only open day free for all tomorrow decriminalising civic duty of care risk mitigation measures to ensure more herd immunity experimentation.

Sorry @noblegiraffe hope you don't think that: 'yer' was aimed at your post, quite the opposite, it was just what I immediately thought when I saw the news this morning. I see that they've now backtracked.
What a mess! Led by Donkeys indeed...

noblegiraffe · 18/07/2021 12:28

No offence taken, 52

I don't understand how they managed to get themselves into this embarrassing situation.

Well, I do, they only think about themselves and are surprised when other people have other priorities.

'Wheesht for Indy' now...

It's an almighty mess both north and south of the border.
a different mess, but a mess still. 2 parties who don't even pretend to obey the law because they feel 'untouchable'.
But I am glad that Scotland isn't dropping masks from Monday when I look at the infection figures zooming upwards again

ssd · 18/07/2021 12:30

'Well, I do, they only think about themselves and are surprised when other people have other priorities.'

I'd say they are surprised other people dare to question them.

I am just surprised that anyone would think they would do anything other.
That people still think the gov is wonderful and obeying all their own rules.
As if...

Yet people will continue to blindly trust...

lightand · 18/07/2021 12:42

And I am surprised that our so called glorious leaders had enough ego left to think they could get away with it!
Mind you, having written that, their collective egos would know no bounds, even now.

Suranjeep · 18/07/2021 12:49

@ssd Yet you appear to be pro independence even though the only way the SNP can think of to pay for it is printing money and you're likely to be stuck with them running it forevermore

They would be astonished that other people dare to question them. They have those private educations, and have been taught that they can do whatever they wish, and other people have to jolly well put up with whatever that it.

Then again, they manage and manipulate everything. Absolutely everything.

LucyLockhearts · 18/07/2021 13:00

Oh yes they are!

(Keep up to speed!)

ThatsWhatYouThink · 18/07/2021 13:01

Stupid, ignorant thread.
Lots of people are on the pilot. After being pinged my DS received a call asking if he'd like to join.
People really should get the facts before spouting off.

I know the facts. You should have read my posts @Unsure33 I have told other posters it’s a genuine trial.

It is highly suspicious that three well known and well connected politicians were all randomly assigned to the testing group rather than the isolation group. Even if they were allowed to be part of the testing group, it is awful PR and sets a terrible public health message.

Anyone else old enough to remember "sale of the Century"? Because that's what I'm convinced we'll be seeing here, only this time with the NHS

I'll tell you what, I didn't think any of this was about selling the NHS ... until the past couple of months. I'm now starting to think they want us to hate or resent the NHS enough that there won't be a big public kick off when they announce the sale - or enough kick off to stop it from happening. Enough people will be quietly pleased to see it go (which would be the wrong thing, but people are so fed up now).

They'll probably tie the sale together with "no more NHS test and trace telling you to isolate YAY!" and "no more lockdowns to protect the NHS YAY!".

Run, boy, you're free now! Eaten by bear

krystalweedon · 18/07/2021 13:20

What a pair of lying snakes Johnson and Sunak are. They are a danger to us all.
