Quite a range of replies.

To the PP asking about shops I have only seen one (Sainsbury's I think it was) saying it would be up to people what they did.

No

Whatever9999 · 12/07/2021 17:53

I'm exempt anyway, but am hoping that I won't have to advertise my hidden disability quite so often. I'll carry my lanyard with me though.
It'll also be nice to not be overwhelmed by so.many masked faces and be able to join in more with society

Noterook · 12/07/2021 17:53

I don't mind wearing one still as I'm not in an environment often where they're needed anyway so it doesn't impinge on me much.

TheVampiresWife · 12/07/2021 17:53

@XenoBitch

Didn't wear one anyway (exempt), but I hope the ending of the mandate also means an end to to abuse for not wearing one.
Oh so much this. Sadly though I think not wearing one will be seen as selfish and uncaring more than ever, now there's a choice to do so or not. Exemption doesn't matter to a lot of people - they see no mask and judge away.
gardeninggirl68 · 12/07/2021 17:55

our stores (large chain) are yet to give their decision

some staff have already said they will just claim to be exempt now....we've all given it a go and done our bit

TheVampiresWife · 12/07/2021 17:55

@imaginethemdragons

Yes. Absolutely yes. And SD still 100%. The numbers are surging here amongst the non/partially vaccinated.

The science says that masks protect people around me by up to 80%, will protect me by 50%.

I’ve waaay too much at stake to risk getting a positive test.
I am double jabbed but just too much risk for others for me to get it.

Social distancing will no longer be a requirement - how will you manage to do so in busy places?
lljkk · 12/07/2021 18:01

I've decided yes, at least sometimes, at least at first (19July onwards).

Not because I believe masks are important or useful but just to avoid upsetting people -- I reckon with mask will upset fewer people than without mask.

Truth is I'm a lockdown skeptic.

More importantly I will think hard before attending a wedding or any crowded indoor event. These are the occasions where my decision could actually make a difference to reducing spread.

Imnothereforthedrama · 12/07/2021 18:02

No not if I don’t have to unless on public transport which I avoid and health care environment.
I suppose if I went to a concert but only walking about I wouldn’t wear one for a concert/ theatre.
I’m waiting to see what they say at work because I don’t wear one sat my desk talking to colleagues but I walk to printer / go toilet I have to which I thinks is pointless.the same with a restaurant i don’t see the point for walking 10 seconds to the table wearing a mask . Shops I’m undecided yet as so many people don’t keep distance so I’ll probably just keep one with me just in case .

imaginethemdragons · 12/07/2021 18:09

Avoid public places but I know that SD will definitely continue at work.

Mammyof22020 · 12/07/2021 18:13

No!

Yepyes · 12/07/2021 18:16

I'd like to keep social distancing. Because I basically hate other people being too close to me. I just don't understand why they need to be so close I can smell their breath. Not looking forward to that returning. But glad to bin the masks.

olivo · 12/07/2021 18:18

Yes, where we live, masks haven't been compulsory for over a month but I have been wearing them anyway.

blameitonthecaffeine · 12/07/2021 18:19

If I'm with people who I know are worried or in a busy place where I don't know how other people feel - Yes. If I'm somewhere where I know everyone else is confident - No. Basically, I'll follow the mood/take my cue from others.

When I'm teaching, definitely not though. I teach in a large, dance studio, not a classroom and I have external doors and windows. Teaching dance in a mask is really not fun.

motherrunner · 12/07/2021 18:20

Yup. Secondary teacher.

LindaEllen · 12/07/2021 18:20

Absolutely not. Fed up of the bloody things.

Nuuktown · 12/07/2021 18:20

Yes

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 12/07/2021 18:22

No. I’m so looking forward to better able to see where I’m going because my glasses aren’t streamed up. I’ve had both vaccines and covid in the past 3 months, so I’m highly unlikely to be infectious.

MyGardenSanctuary · 12/07/2021 18:22

No I won't. I loathe them with a passion. I have had both vaccine shots so why should I? They make me incredibly anxious, affect my sight and hearing. If they are made compulsory again I will go to the Dr for exemption.

IsabellesMissingSock · 12/07/2021 18:23

No

PickAChew · 12/07/2021 18:25

Somewhere busy, yes. When I have the upper deck of the bus to myself, no.

Backofbeyond50 · 12/07/2021 18:26

Yes in certain situations.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 12/07/2021 18:26

No

polkadotpixie · 12/07/2021 18:26

Probably on public transport but for the pub/shopping etc no. I'm double jabbed and haven't caught it despite working in a high risk environment throughout, even before masks were mandatory

TeddingtonTrashbag · 12/07/2021 18:28

@Monkeytennis97

Yes. Including when I go back to work (secondary teacher) in September. FFP3 mask. Double jabbed.
Seriously???
