I did wonder that MRex but it is only and specifically Yarbrough. Nowhere else in Lincs on the list...

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2021 09:37

A little bit of news digging on Google suggests a lot of closed schools in that area.

boys3 · 14/07/2021 10:22

As far a NE Lincs goes the table only showed the 25 MSOAs with the highest crate in the last week.

Extend that to the top 50 and another 4 MSOAs in NE Lincs appear.

Extend to top 100 a further 4 added.

All 23 MSOAs in NE Lincs in the top 10% for highest rates. Lowest MSOA is just under 600 per 100,000.

"They [private school pupils] are also safe from being infected, unlike kids at state schools."

You must be joking! They're out and about wrapped round and bumping into (often literally) their 'isolating' state school mates. Arguably the 'safeist' are those still in school where someone is supervising them.

MarshaBradyo · 14/07/2021 10:35

@herecomesthsun

from being infected as a result of sitting in overcrowded indoor spaces all day, at school, I mean
It will be the same for everyone in September won’t it?

Is it because you can access the vaccine over summer

I can understand if you have this option and can see this risk change

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/07/2021 10:54

But @amicissimma, however many of them you see out and socialising, it’s never going to be as many, close and indoors, as in school.

Interesting new study which seems to show LFTs as reliable:

Our findings support this move, but ensuring tests are properly administered should be integral to any strategy.”

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2021 11:20

Well, this is true ami since over a third of my school is off at them mo, it suddenly feels a bit safer and quieter, it didn't last week!

Avocadowoman · 14/07/2021 11:21

Anyone know what is going on with testing capacity? Website currently as no tests available anywhere in England. My local testing centre has closed down, but I would have thought they need to increase capacity if anything?

Avocadowoman · 14/07/2021 11:22

I went for a PCR yesterday and was asked to take part in research to compare PCRs and LFTs, so I was given an LFT and asked to do it at home straight afterwards.

QueenStromba · 14/07/2021 11:32

119 couldn't order me a replacement test yesterday (the one I was sent had no fluid in the tube and no leak proof bag) but I was able to order myself one online about ten minutes later. They release slots throughout the day.

It's not clear from the original paper if the LFTs we're self administered or not (unless they mention somewhere other than the methods section) - www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(21)00291-1/fulltext

It's been established that self administered tests are less accurate so that could well be a major factor.

AvaCallanach · 14/07/2021 17:14

My DD had a frank negative on a LFT the morning of the day she started showing symptoms. LFT at 8:30 am, by 5pm she was asleep on the sofa. She tested positive by PCR the following morning.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/07/2021 19:37

We’ve had an email from public health locally saying there’s is a shortage of PCR testing in the coming days due to a lack of lab capacity. Anyone else had anything? For context we’re west mids.

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2021 19:45

Lots of people saying this on lots of threads. Back tot he bad old days and yet they must have known to get stocks and people in since Javid said we might hit 100000 cases a day...

TheSunIsStillShining · 14/07/2021 20:07

well, it's one way to not let numbers get out of hand.
Ostrich mentality much?

Honestly I feel like I'm smacking my head against the wall. Left to their own devices teenagers socialise with less people than they are forced to meet at school

Lemonmelonsun · 14/07/2021 20:44

Dh had pcr recently and unfortunately it took so so long to get back I do feel this is the symptom of another huge wave.

Strangely and totally jinxing myself, tempting fate.. I don't feel as worried as in the past because I'm off work, dh works from home and the dc... Whilst every single day the covid phe emails are coming in.. I do feel if we can just crawl to the end of term we are all safe for a few weeks!!

I hope!!

We been double jabbed then it's a case of carrying on being sensible.. Our holiday is self catering.

In the past I felt anxious because they kept saying stay at home or sd and yet schools were open

Wakeupin2022 · 14/07/2021 20:46

Midlands here. Dc had PCR test yesterday. Results back in 19 hours.

I can't really complain at all.

amicissimma · 14/07/2021 21:21

"Honestly I feel like I'm smacking my head against the wall. Left to their own devices teenagers socialise with less people than they are forced to meet at school"

They well be socialising with fewer people, but my point is that what they are not doing is isolating.

Or they might be off having end of term parties with lots of other schools, with their plus ones, and random locals, thereby mixing with a more diverse section of the community, including people they don't normally meet. Go back to school for prize giving and spread it around a bit more just for good measure.

No I'm not joking. "Out" ie outdoors is much better than squashed in classrooms.

Every time we have a school holiday the infection rate plummets in schoolkids.

Regulus · 14/07/2021 22:23

Every time we have a school holiday the infection rate plummets in schoolkids agree Sun despite it not being the cool thing.
