Be honest, would you self isolate now?

If you got a message saying you had been in contact with someone who has tested positive and were asked to self isolate, would you?

You absolutely should but if your family really depend on you I would get booked in for pcr test for around 5 days from the other persons positive result and if negative it should be fine by that point tbh, I used to work for test and trace and everyone should absolutely isolate but seeing as for most people it's from symptom start dates, you wouldn't have a positive result returned to you after the test till about 2/3 days after the initial symptom at least, so by the time you've tested and isolated it's easily at the 7-10 day period, also after day 5 if you have symptoms then obviously re test and isolate

Themeparklover · 08/07/2021 02:00

also to clarify, even a positive for the other person and they are asymptomatic, they came into contact with covid at the very least a few days to a week prior and you can give positive readings after contracting covid for up to 90 days without still being contagious after the 10 day mark

urghicba · 08/07/2021 02:02

I have isolated 4 times since January. I won't be doing it again and the app has been removed from my phone.

No more.

Blueskytoday06 · 08/07/2021 06:02

No

bengalcat · 08/07/2021 06:07

I don’t have the app but if contacted by track and trace then yes .

ColettesEarrings · 08/07/2021 06:16

Both adults in the house are now double jabbed plus two weeks. Two early teens children in different schools.

App - never had it so not an issue
School bubble closed - no
School close contact - yes but would take them out for exercise
T&T instruction - yes but would go out for exercise
Symptoms or positive test - completely isolate

TeddingtonTrashbag · 08/07/2021 06:22

No, but have switched off the app so would only be if work alerted me, do would not go into work but bugger would I ‘self/isolate’!

TeddingtonTrashbag · 08/07/2021 06:30

Isolation is just punishing for the self-employed and small businesses who can’t work from home-lovely jubbly for the public sector who will get paid anyway.

LynetteScavo · 08/07/2021 06:56

Yes I would self isolate, but I would still get paid, I have a large garden to enjoy and plenty of things in my house to amuse me and no big upcoming occasions. I haven't had to self isolate already.

I wouldn't judge someone who felt unable to self isolate (and I often have my judgy pants pulled right up)

upsideoxide · 08/07/2021 07:18

Depends. I don't have the app and don't check in at places. Not had any covid symptoms in the last year or more

If somebody in the house has symptoms, that would be different

Snowdrop30 · 08/07/2021 07:22

Yes, with regret, but yes

TreaslakeandBack · 08/07/2021 07:39

No because why is it ok not to after 16th August but not now? Double jabbed and have antibodies from having Covid in May.

hopeishere · 08/07/2021 07:54

DS is isolating after a case at school. It's mad though as the rest of us "can go about our business".

ILookAtTheFloor · 08/07/2021 08:23

No, I'm telling everyone I meet that if they test pos please don't name me, I have no intention to self isolate, although as I'm not a person that does illegal stuff I will do if contacted by T&T.

But I don't want to and I'd beg anyone not to name me.

Obviously deleted the app months ago.

GoofyIsACow · 08/07/2021 08:30

Yes, I currently am with two of my DC’s. I’m not one to go against the rules but I am annoyed watching 60k fans at wembley from my sofa! 🙈

SilverGlitterBaubles · 08/07/2021 08:32

Never had the app so no. Would I put myself through the PCR testing process which then registers with T&T again? Not sure. Currently isolating due to DC testing positive while already isolating due to being a close contact. Test results took over 3 days in limbo caused stress for us and our employers then eventually had to call them to chase results which wasn't easy, by which time her symptoms had passed. Now being constantly harassed by T&T going through a 30min scripted call in the middle of my workday to ask pointless and irrelevant questions about my DD - such as her employer (she's clearly a child) going through the whole list of symptoms when I've just said what they were. Then being bombarded with texts about downloading their app, constantly calling both DH and I separately in the same house to go through it all again. I said we were all at home isolating we are sticking to it so just a quick call would suffice. I think I will home test and act accordingly in future, I am more confident in these now as it did pick up DDs case when she had symptoms.

Covidatemyhomework · 08/07/2021 08:40

Yes I would, but its unlikely I’d need to as I wear PPE at work and still keep 2 metres distant from anyone not in my house because I really don’t Want to have to isolate! School bubbles are a big risk at the mo though, but my inderstaning is that even if DD had to isolate, I would still be able to go out (unless she became symptomatic)

TheGenealogist · 08/07/2021 08:40

No, but it won't happen as i've never had the app.

NewallKnowall · 08/07/2021 08:41

What I can't understand is why you could go to the football with a negative lft but that isn't good enough for everyone else, ie for our kids to go into school?

You could go to Wembley if double jabbed, but being double jabbed hasn't stopped me having to isolate?

Bizarre

Oblomov21 · 08/07/2021 08:42

No. I purposefully don't have the app.

rosesarered321 · 08/07/2021 08:43

Yes

BogRollBOGOF · 08/07/2021 08:48

I deleted the app last summer after it was constantly bombarding with agressive red notifications to turn on the bluetooth. I spent most of my time at home, and it was far more aggro than it's worth.

So really it would have to be a T&T phonecall, family contact or friend. The chances of a contact are fairly low as most of my routines are outdoors.

I would cancel all plans and stay in, but I do know a plethora of quiet, local rural places to run that remained quiet even in the depths of lockdown last year, and present no risk to others.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/07/2021 08:53

@chaosrabbitland you do realise if you have a positive LFT you need to do a PCR test and only if that one is positive does the school bubble burst.

frumpety · 08/07/2021 08:59

Yes , come into contact with a lot of CEV people so it could be devastating if I didn't.

EwDavid · 08/07/2021 09:18

So is it not a legal requirement to isolate my DC if someone in their class bubble tests positive?
