Be honest, would you self isolate now?

If you got a message saying you had been in contact with someone who has tested positive and were asked to self isolate, would you?

Whoopsmahoot · 07/07/2021 22:40

Yes, very much so. I have immunosuppressed family members.

JustJustWhy · 07/07/2021 22:42

No.

ddl1 · 07/07/2021 22:42

Yes. (But I am able to WFH for a while if necessary, so it wouldn't ruin me financially.)

HarrietOh · 07/07/2021 22:43

@coralcavesenormouswaves

Ok thanks, so the app won't pass on details to track and trace people? Sorry I have tried Googling it and it's not clear!
No. I got pinged by app in February in the midst of lockdown when I hadn't seen anyone. Safely ignored it and never contacted.

Mind you, when I had COVID late last year I also didn't receive a single phone call from T&T, just the initial texts and online form completion.

Osrie · 07/07/2021 22:45

Yes. It’s not just about me. There are very vulnerable people out there and I may not know if I come into contact with them or not. We need to get the country back up off it’s knees.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 07/07/2021 22:47

No, fuck that. Delete the app!

JustMeAndWheatley · 07/07/2021 22:47

Yes

UnChatNoir · 07/07/2021 22:49

If it was from the app, no.

CovidCorvid · 07/07/2021 22:50

No…not if via the app. If I’d been rung up then yes.

TentTalk · 07/07/2021 22:50

Yes. I don't have the app so it'd either test and trace or someone telling me they were positive. I don't know why anyone wouldn't. It's not about me but about more vulnerable people I could pass it too.

Indoctro · 07/07/2021 22:51

No

Abetes · 07/07/2021 23:07

I’ve deleted the app so not from that.

TempsPerdu · 07/07/2021 23:24

No. Would be more likely to if it were just me, or if DD were older but she’s only 3 and, having done it once, it was an utter nightmare. My MH was on the floor by the end of our last stint. I’d have to at least take her to the park to burn off some energy.

That said, I have two friends who are currently self-isolating with their preschoolers and both appear to be sticking to it. From their WhatsApp messages they are at their wit’s end though, and numbing the pain with large quantities of alcohol.

TempsPerdu · 07/07/2021 23:26

Oh, and I’ve never had the app - would only realistically end up self isolating if DD was a close contact through nursery again.

GirlAloud · 07/07/2021 23:28

No.

I deleted the app three weeks after my second jab. Telling double-jabbed people to self-isolate is completely ridiculous and entirely pointless.

PrincessNutNuts · 07/07/2021 23:29

Yes.

MarthaPent · 07/07/2021 23:31

Yes

I'd be way too worried about passing it on to someone and causing them serious illness or death.

MarthaPent · 07/07/2021 23:32

@Siennabear

No. All over 70s and vulnerable are double jabbed. That was the goal. The posts kept moving.
Pretty sure vulnerable children are not vaccinated and I don't think people with some illnesses are either?
Tiddleztheelephant · 07/07/2021 23:34

I would, yes but I've decided that if ds needs to isolate again we'll be doing a few walks in quiet places unless he's positive himself or very high risk.
I'm really concerned about the way that continual isolations are affecting him.

LilyPond2 · 07/07/2021 23:54

Yes, I would isolate if directed by Test and Trace (though don't have the app).
As PP has said, vulnerable children have not been vaccinated. And vulnerable adults with compromised immune systems may have very little protection from the vaccine despite being double jabbed.

MummyPop00 · 07/07/2021 23:55

No.

sleepwouldbenice · 08/07/2021 00:25

Agreed
And how dare the virus move the goal posts by developing a variant. How very dare it

wondersun · 08/07/2021 00:26

Yes! It’s to protect the vulnerable of which there are plenty and everyone from long covid. People should be supported though

Spikeyball · 08/07/2021 00:27

I would take ds out for exercise because no one else can do it but would stay away from other people as we do anyway - ds being severely autistic. It far more likely that ds would be supposed to be self isolating through school as he is our only contact with other people but again we would still take him out for exercise.

whattodo2019 · 08/07/2021 01:30

yes of course
