Because I do think it will happen...

@Getafuckinggripman

They will if it eventually becomes law... or if they are deemed "unsafe" against massive chain businesses who can afford to do this. For the record I hope you're right - I'm still unjabbed!
You've answered your own question...when [if] it becomes law.
Wanttocry · 29/06/2021 18:44

Hopefully never. And if only a few places did it I would avoid them on principle (obviously not possible if everywhere does it).

And I am vaccinated.

Againstmachine · 29/06/2021 18:48

@CrumbleLady, I don’t know, I used to work in a hospital and a big part of my decision to leave was their appalling covid safety practices for back office departments

I was talking to a lady at the weekend who works at a hospital and all apart from the admin were offered the vaccine, she said they couldn't function without the admin and thought it was disgusting.

I work at a hospital and sub contract and weren't given the vaccine even though all the facilities in the hospital wing will collapse if we aren't here.

I know a fair few people who have been vaccinated and feel the same. They would avoid such places on principle.

On another note, the people I know who have tested positive for Covid have all been jabbed, several double jabbed. I wish people who have not had the vaccine would stop being seen as deadly biohazards.

Ridiculousradish · 29/06/2021 18:53

I bloody hope not. I won't be having the vaccine and I work in hospitality. If the vaccine becomes a requirement for my minimum wage job, I'm out of there. I won't be easy to replace though because I do more than I'm paid to do (mug) , and no one wants to work in hospitality right now.

Marguerite2000 · 29/06/2021 18:59

Never. We have effective vaccines now, life in the UK will proceed on the basis that most people are vaccinated and anyone who isn't has to accept they might be the unlucky one who ends up in ICU or dead.
Obviously it will be a slightly different situation re international travel, but even that will sort itself out in a few years time.

XenoBitch · 29/06/2021 19:07

I don't think it will happen. Hospitality will want all the trade they can get.

SexTrainGlue · 29/06/2021 19:20

I doubt it will happen - they need the custom

There might be some places with a CEV owner or staff member, firbwhim the extra layer of protection could be moortsnt they are the people for whom the jab may not work well at all) and that should of course be respected

Usual2usual · 29/06/2021 19:28

The very idea is absolute madness.

People are acting like Covid is the first ever pandemic, what about all the other vaccines, are we bothered by them or just Covid?

I am vaccinated against Covid because I choose to be. I am not however vaccinated against measles, mumps or rubella (bad advice given to my Mum when I was a baby) so maybe I should be banned from places too?

We cannot go down this road it is highly unethical.

canigooutyet · 29/06/2021 19:31

Surely it will be rejected because of other laws surrounding how we share our medical info and who we share this with. We don't even have to let the gp know about who we see medically elsewhere if we chose not to share.

IIrc a part of the policing of masks exemptions was flawed from the start because of not having to share medical details. And your bar staff, bus drivers etc couldn't ask for reasons and had to let people in. A few did try iirc and those places staff encountered abuse because who do you think you are? You're not involved in health services so what's it to you? And of course, some simply lied which again couldn't be proven.

It could be touted as a national ID card. However this hasn't been a popular option for a multitude of reasons including various privacy laws we have,

CallMeNutribullet · 29/06/2021 19:40

They won't. There's not a chance of it becoming law either.

Ridiculousradish · 29/06/2021 19:43

A local pub near me has said they'll only allow vaccinated people inside, those not jabbed have to sit outside. I thought it was discrimination and therefore not allowed, but no one seems to be stopping them.

If I saw similar local to me, I would be emailing my local MP about it. This shit can not be allowed to happen.
Againstmachine · 29/06/2021 19:47

How do they know they shouldn't be requesting peoples medical history, I hope the pub shuts down as they have no reason. To request this.

Againstmachine · 29/06/2021 19:49

Florida governor has right idea outlawed such spurious rubbish.

RedToothBrush · 29/06/2021 19:52

Er never.

Have people on this section started to take leave of their senses or something?

There seems to be more and more people who have quite disconnected with all sense of reality.

Ridiculousradish · 29/06/2021 19:58

It's been in the local paper. Everyone knows. No one seems to give a shit.

canigooutyet · 29/06/2021 20:00

At the moment people don't seem to mind that pub.

However, lets see and wait how long they change their minds because the vaccinated have friends with the unvaccinated. On a nice warm days it's ok to sit outside. But when it starts to rain things would change.

Although would love to know how the pub is doing it. Bouncers on door to see evidence? People just saying they have had the vaccine? Might get myself back on SM to see if more of these are popping up.

canigooutyet · 29/06/2021 20:05

Even a breeding ground cruise is letting the unvaccinated on board albeit with restrictions

Breeding ground?

Viruses do not breed.

TrufflyPig · 29/06/2021 20:09

You can still get this vaccination as an adult. I've just had mine for work (was vaccinated as a baby but unable to provide proof so was just easier to do it again).

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 29/06/2021 20:16

I don't think it will happen. They would only be able to do it if the gov legislated to permit it and any such legislation would be very very vulnerable to challenge on the grounds of it being discriminatory and a violation of human rights.

This.
alexdgr8 · 29/06/2021 20:21

i know the vaccine does not solve all the problems, does not obliterate the virus, or the risk of catching/passing it on.
but it greatly reduces that risk.
i am not scared to go out.
i think it is a matter of civic duty to have the vaccine.
and if people in the nhs/care roles are not willing to have it, they should find another job.

Caspianberg · 29/06/2021 20:22

It’s already happened where I live. There are three ways you can gain access to a restaurant/ bar/ spa/ hairdressers etc etc.

  1. 22 days after first vaccine - you take evidence of certificate
  2. with a Covid test. Three types available valid for 24/48 or 72 hrs. It’s time stamped.
  3. within 6 months of having Covid - test and antibody test has to be confirmed by doctor and is valid 6 months.

Everyone is compliant and nobody seems to care tbh.
