I've just seen this on my Apple News but can't view it as I don't have a premium subscription. Has anyone read the full article? Is there someone similar that this information has been published? I'm really interested in what it says and what is going to be done - if anything?

my periods go completely bonkers after every vaccine I ever had - mmr, flu, tetanus , covid, …. same very time. regulates itself over the next half year or so

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 20/06/2021 17:03

My period was late after the first jab
And it was also late after having covid.
Usually like clockwork.

People saying 'it doesn't matter' are being ridiculous - of course it matters - if women's fertility is being affected by the vaccine, then it matters. Surprised at how many careless, off-hand responses there are on here about something that is potentially incredibly serious for women and a genuine cause for concern.

but the symptoms being reported like heavy or delayed periods, increased PMS, do not equate to changes in fertility

i think it's really really important to make this distinction

theotherfossilsister · 20/06/2021 17:31

I missed my period after dose one of az. I reported it and would like to have been told that was a side effect but it wouldn't put me off.

Second dose period was fine.

Marmite27 · 20/06/2021 17:42

I’ll be honest, no one I know in ‘real life’ has had any problems, and it’s not just because it hasn’t come up in conversation because I’ve actually asked them.

I don’t think it’s as widespread as MN thinks. Plus stress affects periods. It’s not exactly sunshine and roses at the moment is it?

MrsToadlike · 20/06/2021 17:50

Yes it's impacted me, usually I have regular cycles like clockwork but they're all over the place since the jab. Definitely not pregnant. I've also done the yellow card report thing.

Lucidas · 20/06/2021 18:10

There’s definitely a dismissal of women’s health issues, so I support this being looked into. But at the same time, and like a lot of women on MN, I’ve experienced menstrual changes after taking things like Pregnacare...so I’m not sure how significant or benign these cycle changes are.

gluteustothemaximus · 20/06/2021 18:49

Not enough women have reported having issues. Probably because we are used to not being taken seriously with menstrual problems.

Too fucking right.

Women know their own bodies. There there, silly women, maybe you're all just a bit stressed.

Treacletoots · 20/06/2021 18:57

Oh shit. Same here. After my jab of Pfizer my periods have been all over the place, a week late, a week early and a week late again ...

HSHorror · 20/06/2021 19:12

Im thinking maybe anaemia or insulin resistance with the virus or vax. Or maybe thyroid which can go up and down.
Certainly insulin resistance causing pcos which affects periods.

The vaccines mucking up some peoples cycle for a bit was reported weeks ago. Some SAGE scientist did at least one interview about it too.

Saying it was something that can happen and not to worry. This can happen with some exsisting vaccines. They expect your cycle to go back to normal fairly quickly etc.

Why are people worried about a known side effect?

winched · 20/06/2021 19:29

Why are people worried about a known side effect?

If it was a known side effect they've known about all along then I can't imagine there is anything to worry about.

It's the fact they're saying it's not a known side effect which is concerning? Because clearly lots of people have lived experiences which leads them to believe otherwise.

It says they are continuing to monitor

So like I said it is something they know about and have spoken about before

Even if not an official side effect yet

Interesting reading. I had my first AZ vaccine 6 weeks ago, and 4 weeks post vaccination had 7 days of bleeding brown / pink discharge which I've never done before, and I'm on the pill, in the middle of a packet. I'm now wondering if it's vaccine related?

Ohgonthenillhaveabrew · 20/06/2021 19:57

I had the Pfizer and what would be my second cycle since having it, is late - no chance of pregnancy. My first one was light spotting for 1 week heavy for 1 week and light spotting for 1 week. This time I’ve had intermittent spotting but only when I wipe for the last week. But I’m late well I’m not late if follow the full bleed but I am late if I just go by my regular 32 cycle if that makes sense.
I wonder if I should report to GP or just wait for the second Pfizer in a few weeks and let them know. I was worried maybe it’s early menopause I’m 39 and my mum had early menopause. But this might be a reason why my usually regular cycle is out of sync

Bingbongbooo · 20/06/2021 20:12

Mine are out of whack too. No effect after the first but the second caused my period to start the next day a week early. It lasted 5 days but then spotted for another week

This cycle my period was 4 days late, currently on day 5 so don't know if the spotting will happen again. I'm 33 though and previously like clockwork so I'm 99% sure it's vaccine related.

Bingbongbooo · 20/06/2021 20:14

Mine was AZ to add

copernicium · 20/06/2021 20:18

I had AZ on Tuesday. I'm 40. I have had heavy spitting, like day one period, every day since. My periods are usually right at the end of the month and last a day or two.

Danidandan · 20/06/2021 20:28

Mine came right on time after both jabs.

Bobholll · 20/06/2021 21:28

Zero impact on mine. I was due a week after Pfizer no.1 .. arrived bang on, it’s usual self. A joy as always 😂

@TruelyonelastSchlep

It’s not a “known side effect” in that it’s not officially told to women. It should be added to the literature. It’s not been in the media like the blood clot issue. It wouldn’t prevent me getting the vaccine but forwarded is forearmed.

touma · 20/06/2021 21:29

Haven't had my vaccine yet, but I'm not sure if it's worth me saying that after I had Covid my period was about 2 weeks late.

Roonerspismed · 20/06/2021 22:20

My friend had the AZ today. The nurse said she hadn’t heard of the periods
Issue. I found this odd. My neighbour has had a period every two weeks since her AZ - nearly fainting with clots. She didn’t think anything of it re the vaccine and didn’t
report it. My SIL has odd cycles since hers. Again not reported. Why would you if it’s not mentioned? It’s not in mainstream news.
