Not sure how Boris can stand up tonight and ask us to wait 'just another few weeks' after his antics this weekend.

Nor after seeing the scenes at countless pubs where people were celebrating the footy results

I'm 100% done now

Yes, it's going to be very, very hard for him to justify this delay after the G7 BBQ on the beach and how they've all been hugging and backslapping each other all weekend. Plus the rise in hospitalisations is tiny, so the NHS isn't under threat of buckling again.

I've been compliant since day one but I'm at my limit too. Because you just know that come the summer holidays, SAGE is going to start harping about an autumn surge and measures needing to stay in place and we'll be back here again.

Workyticket · 14/06/2021 09:55

Exactly @LoudestCat14

We've been compliant, yet we're waiting on the man who's had a weekend jollying with his pals at a bbq to let our leash an inch longer tonight

I'm so glad the tide is turning 👍

I know there is a contingent still trembling in their boots calling for full lockdown/washing their shopping but I think there are fewer of those now.

winched · 14/06/2021 09:59

The tide finally turns.

lILookAtTheFloor Well it turns out I wasn't entirely compliant as I never washed my shopping! Was that actually a thing?? I missed that one.

poppycat10 · 14/06/2021 10:02

I bet there are still people washing their shopping and quarantining their post, despite being vaccinated. You were never going to catch it from your shopping or post!

Personally I think people are overreacting unless it's their livelihood at stake. Do you really need to be able to prop up a bar rather than wait for someone to bring your drinks to your table?

MRex · 14/06/2021 10:03

A bunch of double vaccinated people being tested every day, of course the G7 were all safe at an outdoor event. If they weren't able to feel safe at that point then we're all really screwed.

Waiting a few weeks to allow those in their 20s who have not been offered a jab yet to get a jab and build some level of immunity seems fair to me. They have gone through the same restrictions and deserve the same protections as older people. Letting cases reduce will also protect children, who can't be jabbed and also don't want covid. Masks are actually about protecting your fellow citizens, and aren't mandatory outside. Enjoy the sunny weather and be patient for a few weeks.

Racoonworld · 14/06/2021 10:03

I was done a while ago. I don't blame anyone for being done now. This has gone on way too long.

murbblurb · 14/06/2021 10:03

He's fucked up. Everyone pays. It's shit - but refusing to keep taking precautions wont help. Protest against our useless leader instead.

Workyticket · 14/06/2021 10:04

I have selfish reasons for being invested - my wedding is re-arranged for July.

It’s all well and good people saying they are 100 percent done but that doesn’t change the fact our old lives are a distant memory.

Irrespective of choosing to not follow certain rules life has changed beyond all recognition. Well certainly for me, I know there’s a lot of boring people on mumsnet who would be happy with this half life forever more. They get to decide when to lift restrictions, not us. I doubt a trending hashtag on Twitter will make a blind bit of difference at all.

We’re not going back to normal any time soon are we?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/06/2021 10:06

"unless their livelihood is at stake"

That's actually rather a lot of people who are struggling for income, many of them freelance or on zero hours contracts, therefore not receiving any furlough payments.
Must be devastating for them.

Workyticket · 14/06/2021 10:07

I've been a sheep - followed all the rules but even my line manager at work leads by example

What the fuck does that even mean?

Why? They’re very low risk of hospitalisation/death. Vaccinating them will make little difference to the strain on the NHS. Ensuring the top 9 groups are fully vaccinated though - yes.
murbblurb · 14/06/2021 10:14

Ok, so we follow Boris example. Get shagging some PR girl, everyone, and lie through your teeth when asked questions.

Honey12346 · 14/06/2021 10:19

I've been done for about a year and I'm so glad I was. When I went on holiday a year ago (mind you, that was perfectly allowed) I was told I was being selfish and all I have to do is wait for a bit longer and I'll be able to go on holiday next summer. Look how that turned out...

flameprincess · 14/06/2021 10:19

I am going to stop wearing a mask. I wore a mask all last summer while heavily pregnant when shopping and again in hospital for every appointment and it was miserable. I can't believe I'm still having to do it in this fucking heat and I'm double vaccinated now. If everyone needs to be vaccinated because it prevents transmission then why do I need to wear a mask? What am I protecting people from?

PracticingPerson · 14/06/2021 10:19

Think the way it looked was poor but not sure what being on a beach has to do with opening night clubs?

I can;t stand Johnson but this is just covid deniers grasping at straws. You'd have a point if he said you can't go to the beach too.

Yes.. my husband still does quarantines post and washes the shopping. It's maddening. The post quarantine time limit has at least gone from 72 hours down to 24 hours. Hmm

He had a bbq. Outdoors. I want to get married - outdoors

He had a drinks reception. Outdoors. I want a drinks reception outdoors

He had canapes. Outdoors. I want canapes outdoors

Selfish I know but I want what he had (plus a registrar - the demanding princess that I am!)

Yes, great, go to the pub! Pubs are open. Go every day (maybe not booze every day though, not great for the liver, but get a meal). Even better, they're doing table service these days.
MRex · 14/06/2021 10:23

@bumbleymummy - please stop assuming that everyone wants what you want. Some in their 20s want to be jabbed, it's only days to let them be jabbed.

StacysMomMandyJessiesEx · 14/06/2021 10:23

I’m worried those all saying ‘I’m done’ are going to refuse to comply in shops where we are bound by tight covid guidelines/rules/regs and face disciplinary if we allow customers to behave in an ‘I’m done’ way in our stores?

Covid audits check our cctv for all kinds of compliance. We are shamed on social media, complete with a photo, if seen to be slipping with covid regs

Remmy123 · 14/06/2021 10:24

I was done a while ago.

I post my job

My children are showing signs of issues they never had before lockdown (mentally and physically)

1k people in hospital with covid

What wouid be his argument to extend?

Absolute joke
