Dumpypumpy · 26/05/2021 10:02

25th jan the government hadn’t even started pandemic planning- i had already bought my hazmat suit and masks by then!

Spring2021 · 26/05/2021 10:02

I am listening in I am working but work is extremely quiet today so I am listening and watching the weasel 👋

someseriousshit · 26/05/2021 10:04

yep I bought facemasks on 20 January

DC would be more credible if he hadn't broken the rules himselfHmm

tenredthings · 26/05/2021 10:05

He's in league with slimy Gove, it's all theatre.

I think you're 100% right on this one. Cummings would not put himself so spectacularly under such a spotlight without an agenda in the background. I think PMQ's could be interesting later!
Girlmama3 · 26/05/2021 10:11

I don't understand the point. We all know they acted too late but it was over a year ago. Surely we need to move on and leave it in the past?

Belindabelle · 26/05/2021 10:12

Whilst trying to work and get the Waitrose food order done by 12 noon.

Reminds me of the days of The Brexit indicitive votes.

Really?

I think they need to be held to account and to learn from the mistakes

Totally agree, it’s not good enough. And they didn’t learn, for example; taking ages to put India on the red list

We are talking about the government, the people running the country. They don't get to 'leave it in the past' - they are our future Confused

HagenDaz · 26/05/2021 10:16

I read (on Twitter so it must be true Wink) that someone is going to prison for this and DC is making sure it won’t be him.

Tell that to the bereaved families, destroyed businesses and traumatised care home residents. Jesus Hmm
Spring2021 · 26/05/2021 10:17

They definitely need to be held to account. not that I am an expert but his body language is telling me he isn’t being truthful. Surprise, surprise.

TokyoSushi · 26/05/2021 10:20

Checking in, fascinating, fabulous and horrific all at once.

Girlmama3 · 26/05/2021 10:20

I think they all know they were too slow. I don't think constantly dragging it up helps, it reminds the families of those who lost lives that it could have been avoided.

GoldenOmber · 26/05/2021 10:21

I think they absolutely do, but that needs to be a proper public inquiry. Less interested in “lying political weasel 1 says lying political weasel 2 is lying.”

namechange34 · 26/05/2021 10:22

They need to be held to account. Apart from anything else, this is not going to be the last pandemic in my lifetime according to experts, so I'd like them to make sure they learn from their mistakes (eventually!)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/05/2021 10:22

I suspect the old phrase "no sh1t Sherlock" may be appropriate

What I really want to know is the story behind this, considering he and Boris were once pretty close ... what was Cummings promised that he's failed to get, for example

are you for real?Shock
Bagamoyo1 · 26/05/2021 10:23

The hypocrisy is astounding. DC flouted the rules, took the piss out of the population, sat in that garden spouting utter crap to journalists with full government backing - while the rest of us were following rules, missing family/friends, losing livelihoods etc. And now he has the audacity to say that other people messed up! He must have an ego the size of a solar system.

KnowlWay · 26/05/2021 10:24

I think he’s got acid reflux. Some strange swallowing.

Lelliebellieboo · 26/05/2021 10:24

The problem is that Cummings is so sneaky that there's no way on earth that he's telling the truth about any of it. He wants to destroy Johnson and Hancock and conveniently forget the role that he played in this whole situation.

choking on his lies more like
Orf1abc · 26/05/2021 10:25

@Girlmama3 The campaign group for the victims families want this to happen. They don't want to wait another year for a likely whitewashed inquiry. Perhaps respect their wishes? Also 'move on' is the phrase the government use when they want us to ignore wrongdoing. They're not doing it in our best interests, they're doing it to deflect blame from themselves.
