Anybody been invited and declined the jab?

Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

No, I had it and am glad I did. Can't wait to get my second next month.

ThatOtherPoster · 19/04/2021 14:06

Why do you think you did the right thing?

I just cancelled mine (for a location miles away) and want to wait to get an appointment at the GP which is a 5-minute walk.

I don’t think cancelling was the right choice, but I panicked.

Schulte · 19/04/2021 14:07

Not declined but I postponed it by a couple of weeks to see if any new evidence or guidance would emerge. Would happily have Pfizer or Moderna right now. AZ - not so.

Schulte · 19/04/2021 14:09

Oh and I did cancel my appointments booked via the national booking line because the GP invited me to have the jab locally instead, but it looks like the cancellation didn't go through because the system is now telling me I 'missed' my appointment!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/04/2021 14:09

The only person I know who's done this is a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy idiot (believes in the 5G theory, microchips in the vaccine etc.). Everyone else seems to have taken up the offer of the vaccine. I had my first one yesterday and I'm glad I did.

BTW I'm not saying people who don't want the jab are all conspiracy theorists, just the nutter I know!

Don’t worry - that’s a standard message whenever you use that system! I got that message before I’d even tried to book anything. 😆

Devlesko · 19/04/2021 14:21

@DDIJ

I have not been called but I will decline. Not due to fears about the jab.
Why? if you don't mind me asking? Likewise apart fro myself people I know who refused were tin hat, or scared of the jab. My concern is and is still what's in them? Reading about those whose periods have stopped, although doesn't affect me, makes me wonder about the other side effects quick to be debunked as not important, or not affecting many.

Violetlavenders · 19/04/2021 14:22

No, I had mine and am looking forward to receiving my second dose in a couple of weeks!

I've seen a few friends suffer from long covid, so I'm very keen to protect myself from the virus.

Violetlavenders · 19/04/2021 14:24

I had AZ and apart from one day feeling a li under the weather, have had no side effects. My period has been on time too.

Aliceandthemarchhare · 19/04/2021 14:25

I decided to decline.

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2021 14:27

Had mine, delighted to have had it. Risk from Covid is low, but it’s there and I’d much have the lower risk of the vaccine and get on about my life.

savethegrannies · 19/04/2021 14:28

I declined. Was only having planning to have it as we were told the vaccine was the route out of lockdown. Clearly that was BS I can see no point whatsoever.

No I've had my first dose and looking forward to the second - DH is the same. My DMum's has had both her doses. Why decline? Unless it's not advised for you personally of course by your GP.

Vallmo47 · 19/04/2021 14:39

Sorry to hear this. 💗

smithyca · 19/04/2021 14:44

I declined mine. I'm going to wait, the yellow card system on the government website has put me off. I don't understand why people are just accepting these side effects as normal and brushing them off. I wouldn't discourage anyone from having it and don't get involved in discussions about it with family and friends because I believe everyone has to make the choice for themselves and not because someone else has told them what to do.

sandgrown · 19/04/2021 14:50

@savethegrannies why was it bullshit? Vaccination has reduced the number of people seriously ill in hospital thereby allowing the government to relax the rules .

Crystaltipsandalyster · 19/04/2021 14:50

Yes, I've been invited and declined. Why would I want to have something injected into my body which is still in the experimental stages and any adverse effects may not come to light for years?
I was speaking to my friend last night, who had her 2nd jab last week.
I asked her did she feel protected now and more at ease going out. She said she doesn't feel any different and would still be cautious. So if she believed having the vaccine would protect her, why after having it is she not feeling safer?

acatcalledjohn · 19/04/2021 14:52

@MNHQ

Can you do something about all this unsubstantiated fear mongering?

romdowa · 19/04/2021 14:53

I got a letter in January inviting me to book but I never did. My plan has always been to wait and see how it goes. I've a rare immune system disorder and I've no idea how my immune system could react.

Schulte · 19/04/2021 14:56

How is this fear mongering? People are entitled to opinions, and are allowed to make choices. Nobody on here is telling others to NOT have the jab.

MindyStClaire · 19/04/2021 14:57

Why? Do you have children, and did they have their childhood vaccinations? A mild reaction to a vaccine is normal. I felt a bit miserable for 48 hours after my first dose, took some paracetemol and got on with it. Same as my DDs did as babies when they had their various vaccinations.
NotImpossible · 19/04/2021 14:59

Those of you who are worried about something put into their body, with potential for future side effects, are you not equally worried about the possible future effects of getting COVID (another relatively 'new' and 'untested' thing with some proven side effects? I'm just trying to get my head around it.

XenoBitch · 19/04/2021 14:59

I have a friend in Group 6 who ignored her invitation. She has not been chased up but I have read of people who are getting texts and phone calls because they have not booked an appointment.
I will also be ignoring my invite, and know a whole family who are doing the same.
