Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

The people who are declining your vaccination will you change your mind if you need to have them to travel abroad for example if they decide you have to be vaccinated, Or will you have it because you want to go on holiday

Schulte · 19/04/2021 15:00

Yes, of course I'm worried about Covid too. That doesn't mean I can't worry about the vaccine!

I don't have a passport and neither do the other people I know who will be declining. No interest in going abroad here.

Can you do something about all this unsubstantiated fear mongering?[/quote]
Stop being ridiculous nobody is scaremongering.
I said I declined mine because I feel we have been betrayed and sold a lie. That's my personal view, others may think differently, I am long since past caring.
I have no concerns about job safety other.

Pinetreesfall · 19/04/2021 15:04

No, don't want it. Apparently I'm on some list so keep flagging up on their systems. I've had 6 texts from the GP, two phone calls and then another today from a National NHS number?
How many times do I need to say no thanks!

No, because I have taken the trouble to actually educate myself and I am not a selfish moron.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 19/04/2021 15:07

My Dsis did. She and my BIL had Covid in Jan and she's worried that the vaccine will overload her immune system (!). My BIL has long Covid and doesn't want to get the virus again so jumped at the chance of having the vaccine (and he said bizarrely that he actually felt better after having it than he had done since having Covid). I think her grown up kids have tried persuading her but to no avail.

I think it's up to her really. At least hopefully her antibodies will be protecting her for now.

@NotImpossible

Those of you who are worried about something put into their body, with potential for future side effects, are you not equally worried about the possible future effects of getting COVID (another relatively 'new' and 'untested' thing with some proven side effects? I'm just trying to get my head around it.
I'll keep it simple and say no. I am all for people making their own decisions whether they have the vaccine or not and respect their right to do so. I have my own private thoughts on my reasons which I won't share as a poster up thread is calling having an opinion scaremongering.
Chickychickydodah · 19/04/2021 15:13

I’ve had Pfizer jab, got next one in 3weeks , my dh had AZ both of us have been fine and happy to have them.

sunshine7981 · 19/04/2021 15:14

Interested to know if any of the people declining the vaccine have any scientific/medical training or education. I am a PhD biochemist and I jumped at the chance of a vaccine. All medications have side effects but these vaccines have been rigorously tested and the risks from Covid are much much greater.

Frequentflier · 19/04/2021 15:15

Surely the OP asked for people who declined the jab, not for all of us who have had it to come on here?:)

Groovee · 19/04/2021 15:18

I had AZ. I have under lying health conditions. Periods don't affect me anymore but it's kicked started my chronic fatigue again. But if it stops being being seriously ill with Covid (huge chance due to constant chest infections which last 3 weeks or so), I'd prefer that.

smithyca · 19/04/2021 15:18

@MindyStClaire I don't think it matters to anyone if I have children or what vaccines I or my potential children have had do you? You've had yours and that's great for you but I don't understand why people can't respect the choices of those who are weary.

MrsLestrade · 19/04/2021 15:18

@DDIJ

I don't go anywhere or come into contact with anybody so there is no point in me having it. Waste of public money on me.
I hope you don’t mind me asking but I’ve seen your posts for quite some time and you’re obviously desperately reaching out for someone to notice how unhappy and lonely you are, can I ask if you’ve ever started a thread asking for help and support?
sunshineandshowers21 · 19/04/2021 15:19

i declined mine. one) because i don’t feel i should be a priority to get it because i have a history of anxiety that i’m not even currently on medication for. two) because i’ve had covid and don’t feel i’m at risk of getting it again yet. and three) because i have a family history of blood clots and i didn’t think the risk (however tiny) was worth the reward.

No I'm just very aware of how my own body works and as I have a history of anaphylaxis to vaccinations, I decided it might be best to give this one a skip for the moment. Surely I dont require a degree to make this choice. When I've been asked to make other medical choices for myself for years.

I’ve decided not to have it and hope I’m not forced to just so I can travel abroad and see my family. I had the actual virus mildly towards the end of last year and my own body fought it off within about a week so I feel quite happy that my ongoing risk is very low. I don’t buy that my immunity will only last 6 months because I don’t see why it would be any different to any other coronavirus out there in that regard. SARS-cov1 has antibody protection for 16 years and counting and that count is only limited to 16 years because that’s how long that particular virus has been in existence.
They carry out a ‘stamp’ test prior to a BCG against tuberculosis and if you show antibodies to that then you don’t have the full vaccine so I am working on that basis re the covid vaccine.

I am content that I am not making a selfish decision because the vaccine is primarily for individual protection and I’m happy that my parents and DMIL, for example, have had theirs because they are statistically more at risk in the first place due to age and other identified factors.

Xenobitch - your name is starting to make more sense

Wow. Was there any need for that? Seriously?

I do not have a passport and have no interest in going abroad (I would never be able to afford it anyway). How that makes me a bitch, I do not know.

murbblurb · 19/04/2021 15:25

No, because I have none of the small list of conditions that would put me at risk, I can do basic maths and I am not a dumbfuck conspiracy theorist.

I had a strange coughing bug from January 2021. Took months to stop and it was horrible. If that was even a tiny taste of covid, anything that reduces the risk of getting it works for me.

AliceBlueGown · 19/04/2021 15:30

@XenoBitch - I think the poster was pointing to your choice of username.

sunshine7981 · 19/04/2021 15:31

Those saying it is a personal health decision of course that is your choice. However, there is clear evidence that vaccination reduces transmission - so as with all other vaccination the unvaccinated are relying on others to reduce their risk of catching the disease. Starting these threads and responding to them with irrational reasons for declining is irresponsible and feeds into the anxiety of people who do not understand how vaccines work. If you have health or other reasons for not vaccinating it is a free world but why the need to spread fear? I know lots of scientists through my work and they are ALL getting the vaccine ASAP

AliceBlueGown · 19/04/2021 15:31

I have had my first dose of vaccine. Very glad to have the opportunity.
