Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

I thought that Mn would delete posts by anti vaxxers spreading misinformation.

When some of the info is widely available, no point?
Plus some of it is eventually found to be true.
I think some of what is written has already turned into mainstream truth, so lines are now blurred.
There are now countless threads started about things that have happened, that were thought wouldnt happen by many even 1 year ago.

The other scenario is, whoever "they" are, want to know who the outliers are??

I have an anti vax Aunt who has pretty much told me that by having the jabs our kids will be orphans in 3 years.
She us so full of contradictions. If anyone dies within 28 days of the vaccine it is the vaccines fault.
Yet if someone dies within 28i days of a Covid positive result it was actually pneumonia caused by mask wearing, they gad prd existing condition or the grm if got hit by a bus.
I think the immunity issue is of the same ilk. We have people saying well natural immunity must last at least 17 years because it does with a similar virus. But on another thread there is talk of some negative reaction to the vaccinated when exposed to the "wild" virus which has no evidence yet but that's because there is no long term safety data. Well there is no long term natural immunity data either.

Apologies typos but you get the idea.

RidOfMe · 01/05/2021 08:11

@Parker231 I would say it was pretty covert. E.g link to a letter, 6 authors - was last on the list was Simon Dolan (links to David Icke).

I had my second Pfizer last week. My DM had hers too and my DF had his second AZ. We were all called early due to our jobs/clinical vulnerability.

I don't believe anyone should be able to pick at this stage. Maybe later on once everyone eligible has been offered a vaccination.

I'm pleased that decliners will help speed up the roll out for younger people.

yes exactly - right now I don't think it matters (on a population level) if people are declining, as long as someone else is getting it in their place. Effectively speeding out the rollout to those in their 20s-30s who are more likely to be going out isn't a bad thing.

Hopefully once it's been offered to everyone it will have given those who are more hesitant time to be reassured by the emerging data.

Nope. I’ve had both. Couldn’t wait. No side effects from the first apart from a mildly sore arm. Felt lightheaded a few hours after the second and really tired for a day or so. I’d rather that than Covid!

Sadsiblingatsea · 01/05/2021 20:41

And yet there are threads on here from people suffering terrible side effects.
This needs to be discussed openly and those who have had side effects or who are justifiably frightened need to be taken seriously and not insulted.
Why take the risk for an illness that kills so few?
Surely if the vaccine works you are protected?
When I had the yellow fever vaccine when I travelled to Kenya, I didn’t worry that some people hadn’t been vaccinated.

Out of all the people I know in real life only a few have had side effects and they disappeared in a couple of days. I do however know someone who was in ITU for a month and then on dialysis so I'd rather take my chances with minimal side effects than take the risk of covid.

@BuggerBognor

If anyone is worried specifically about AZ because of the more cautious approach to the rare blood clot issue taken in other countries, it’s fairly easy to find out which centers are giving Moderna in any particular week and book there. The system allows you to enter any post code. I’ve just done exactly this by reading an article in the local paper - my DH had a horrible reaction to AZ which I didn’t want to risk happening to me.
Sorry I don't understand, how do you work out what centres are offering Moderna in a particular week?

I know my local large centre has been offering Moderna but there are literally no appointments coming up there and I have been trying to book in for a few weeks.

RavingAnnie · 02/05/2021 01:52

@CrunchyCarrot

I declined. Had a couple of follow up letters, then a final letter from my GP saying they've taken my lack of contact as me declining, and won't be contacting me again. However they also said if I change my mind I should contact the surgery. Fair enough.

I have already had Covid, I have an autoimmune disease and a lot of allergies so am not keen to have any of the vaccines. I tested positive for antibodies. I am house bound so don't go on holidays.

I have a biochemistry degree and have been reading up on Covid ever since this started, so am not uneducated nor ignorant, I don't have time or patience for conspiracies. I may change my mind eventually but for now it's a no.

That's interesting Crunchy. I have an autoimmune disease and a number of allergies too - I am always ill and am concerned about having the vaccine (as I am about any new medication). I don't think I have had covid yet though and am worried about catching that too mainly because of the risk of long covid. I wondered what your thinking was on the jab, autoimmunity and allergies?
MercyBooth · 02/05/2021 03:24

@Sadsiblingatsea Yes I assumed being a denier was not the done thing

skris11 · 16/05/2021 12:43

@BuggerBognor Hi, please if you don't mind me asking - how did you manage to find which centres were offering Moderna/Pfizer? Thanks
