Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

My BIL has long Covid and doesn't want to get the virus again so jumped at the chance of having the vaccine (and he said bizarrely that he actually felt better after having it than he had done since having Covid)

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees having the vaccine does seem to be helping long Covid in a good 20-30% who have it.

Happycat1212 · 19/04/2021 16:38

MarshaBradyo it doesn’t give the option to say no just says to book call them has my gp number or click on the link.

CrunchyCarrot · 19/04/2021 16:42

I declined. Had a couple of follow up letters, then a final letter from my GP saying they've taken my lack of contact as me declining, and won't be contacting me again. However they also said if I change my mind I should contact the surgery. Fair enough.

I have already had Covid, I have an autoimmune disease and a lot of allergies so am not keen to have any of the vaccines. I tested positive for antibodies. I am house bound so don't go on holidays.

I have a biochemistry degree and have been reading up on Covid ever since this started, so am not uneducated nor ignorant, I don't have time or patience for conspiracies. I may change my mind eventually but for now it's a no.

Sebw · 19/04/2021 16:43

I declined when I got a text from GP. Gave reason in the opt out box saying I was waiting on more info on Az. Said I was happy to have other jabs but understood I will be back of the queue.

I havent had passport since 2005 and rarely go out so happy to wait it out even if that means not getting it.

Can you do something about all this unsubstantiated fear mongering?[/quote]
"Can you do something about people who have a different opinion to me? I just can't handle it and it's making me feel unsafe. Why can't everyone think the exact same way I do? WHY?"

Calm down.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/04/2021 16:57

Won’t take up the offer if I’m still breastfeeding when offered - the tucked up periods I’ve read of too puts me off but I’m done having children anyway so less concerned.

AliceBlueGown · 19/04/2021 16:57

Personal choice - but it does also reduce transmission. I have chosen to be vaccinated

Save the grannies what am I making up??! Sorry that you find the death of 125000+ people in the uk alone so boring...That's a fact not a guilt trip by the way...
Yet there are no increases in the usual death rate Confused In fact a few months ago it was lower than average.

I'm due to have mine on Thursday but be honest I'm shitting it and wished I'd not booked it.

It’s fine really. I hope you feel reassured when you get there. It’s all very easy and mundane with people that help you feel fine.

You don't think that coronavirus has caused excess death?

It has never been an issue up until now. I think someone was just goin for the low hanging fruit.

Oh that's interesting. I wonder why.

user1494055864 · 19/04/2021 17:12

My DH didn't have his. In the 60's group. 1 letter, texts, 2 phonecalls then they stopped.
I've not had mine. Late 40's. Only 1 text to me! I feel quite neglected lol. Was looking forward to a debate on the phone.

Thank you. Hopefully the aftermath won't be too horrendous, I live alone so will have to fend for myself. It's not something I want in my body and I'm starting to feel rather resentful at the idea that I 'have' to have it to be part of society when I'm not really part of society anyway.

Do you realise how ironic your post is? The figure it’s self is a massive guilt trip Just can’t believe how gullible some people are during this whole thing
peekiboo · 19/04/2021 17:26

Yes I did. Am bfeeding and not convinced it's safe for DC. I'm hoping to have it once I stop

HairyToity · 19/04/2021 17:27

I'm undecided on whether to have it yet. I had covid in December (confirmed with a positive test). I had it mildly, and not sure whether to chance getting it a second time, or chance a blood clot.

vera99 · 19/04/2021 17:38

I get that some people don't want it and that's their right but why they feel the need to come here and crow about it makes me think they have an agenda to push. Vaccination is our route out of this nightmare and all responsible citizens unless they have compelling medical reasons to refuse should consider it their civic duty to comply.

That's precisely the kind of heavy handed rhetoric that makes me NOT want to have it. 'Civic duty' indeed. LOL.

You don’t have to but you may not want to get Covid instead. I know the pressure can feel strong as it approaches but I’d always say breathe, turn up, give yourself get out options each step of the way but keep going and see how you feel. I always find it helps with any health type situation for dc or me.

FlyLight · 19/04/2021 17:46

I don't think anyone's crowing about it, just answering the question. Is vaccination our way out of this nightmare? Because it seems to me the goalposts are constantly changing. I will wait until later in the year to decide whether to have the jab or not. I don't consider it my civic duty to have medication that I don't feel I need right now. Those that are vaccinated are protected and have nothing to fear from those who aren't surely? Because if that's not the case then really what is it all for?

Crazycatlady83 · 19/04/2021 17:46

Genuine question (which is always followed by something that is bound to annoy someone, but I am not asking to be inflammatory - I am genuinely interested!)

If enough people don’t take the vaccines, we are told the virus will continue to spread and that the vaccines are our way out, back to normal blah blah blah. If the virus does start to spread amongst the unvaccinated, how do you think the government should handle it? Should we have another lockdown to protect you so you can access the NHS or do you accept that if the NHS cannot treat you, you will go without (with the potentially horrific end conclusion to that)

Or do you expect that there will be enough vaccinated to protect you?

Or do you just think “it won’t happen to you” when people talk about the worst outcomes for covid?

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 19/04/2021 17:47

@DDIJ

I don't go anywhere or come into contact with anybody so there is no point in me having it. Waste of public money on me.
It's a couple of pounds, so don't use that as an excuse. If you get Covid & need a test (let alone hospitalisation) you'll cost the NHS a shit load more than that.
MarshaBradyo · 19/04/2021 17:48

I do think vaccination is our way out of this.

I think it lowers transmission somewhat although this can depend on variant. So if you’re unvaccinated you may not be able to rely on vaccinated not spreading it still.
