MumofTerrors · 18/04/2021 11:23

So my husband found this post. I had my last period 8th March, jabbed 16th, currently 10 days late. 2 negative tests but no sign of anything happening. Kind of relieved he found this as can chill now.

theotherfossilsister · 18/04/2021 11:31

Mine arrived very late.

I think I posted earlier on this or a similar thread when I thought I'd missed it.

I am so glad to have been vaccinated but I do hope they list this as a possible side effect so women know what to expect. As we are TTC and waiting on IVF I got false hope and spent a fortune on pregnancy tests (idiot!)

It would have really scared me if I was younger and didn't want a baby though. I remember the acute fear which came with a late period at twenty, even though I was using condoms then. I think that was just due to exams and being crap at feeding myself though. I just think women need to be warned.

JPduck · 18/04/2021 18:16

Had my jab 2 weeks ago, period arrived bang on time today.

HeIsHobBobbie · 18/04/2021 18:33

Had the AZ yesterday, feverish with chills during the night and a bit under the weather today. Am expecting period next weekend and will report back.

Do people just have a stronger flow or clots? I already a horridly strong period anyway with gigantic clots due to peri so hope that won't be worse Hmm.

In any case it's, for me at least, a price worth paying to hopefully never have lockdown again.

Rainbows89 · 18/04/2021 18:36

I had Pfizer 3 weeks ago.

My period arrived yesterday. Day 26 which is early but not unheard of. Very painful though and I feel wiped out. Normally not painful at all really.

To anyone who is explaining away the sheer influx of womens' reports on this matter with mentions of "stress", an "immune response", "just a coincidence", "the nocebo effect", or suggestions that it is "probably nothing/temporary" I ask the following;

What statistics are you working off to reach these conclusions?
What scientific data have you collected?
What are your medical qualifications?
What body are you accredited by?

These are the questions I would ask of anyone from whom I was taking advice regarding my menstrual cycle being disrupted by a medical treatment.

ihavethehighground · 18/04/2021 21:42

I've had no period since Astra jab in March

Have you had a pregnancy test?
JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 19/04/2021 07:04

How curious. I'm on the Mirena coil and rarely get proper periods. When I do, they're so light as to be negligable, although tend to last a couple of weeks. I'm having my heaviest one in years and I had the jab a few weeks ago. It didn't occur to me to report it as I didn't link the two until now.

CorianderBee · 19/04/2021 07:43

Mine started and stopped within a day, I did think it was weird

Hidinginthetoilet · 19/04/2021 11:17

Yes mine was 2 weeks late in the end.
Im undecided whether to have the second dose done or not. My appointment to go and have it done is 16th May so I still have time to decide. My mum who's a nurse says that I absolutely should still have it because by having it I am helping the country with herd immunity and a late period isn't a big deal when you look at the bigger picture. It's not so much that a missed period is an issue, I sort of feel like I am scared of what we are actually putting in our bodies if something like a vaccine to prevent a virus similar to flu can affect your period cycle! Now I keep thinking of the thalidomide babies.
I am really sitting on the fence with this second dose now.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/04/2021 13:57

I'm on the pill and had my period last week. The next one should be in 9 weeks (I back to back the packets) so it'll be interesting to see what happens as I had my first vaccine yesterday.

Devlesko · 19/04/2021 14:00

Isn't there a possibility it makes you sterile?
I think many of these issues were debunked too soon, tbh.

Girlmama3 · 19/04/2021 14:04

Has anyone got pregnant after having the vaccine? I think this is a really worrying side effect.

First jab on 19th March Bfp (after over a year of bfn) on 16th April
Girlmama3 · 19/04/2021 14:10

@GappyValley That's amazing, congratulations 🎉 The vaccine clearly has no effect on fertility! Or, it boosts it!

GappyValley · 19/04/2021 14:21

Thanks!
It’s obviously v early days so I’m keeping my fingers crossed but I’m not worried about the vaccine

And fully intend to get my second dose, which is currently booked in for mid-June, around the same time as I’ll be 12 weeks.

Everything I’ve read says the AZ one uses the same vaccine format as is used for the annual flu jab, which has been routinely given to pregnant women for donkeys years

Girlmama3 · 19/04/2021 14:25

@GappyValley I'm 10 weeks pg and was desperate for the vaccine.

I asked the midwife at my booking in and she was so against it. It's not live so I don't see the issue.

I would feel safer being protected against covid I think.

GappyValley · 19/04/2021 14:27

The guidance changed 3 days ago so you should be able to bring it up with her at your next appointment

I’m perimenopausal and post vaccine had the most normal period I’ve had in about 3 years - so the other way for me

I do have other issues though - still have muscular pains in the arm I had the jab in

Bet anything of it caused a 2 week delay in erections that it wouldn’t be dismissed
YoutubeZoom · 19/04/2021 14:39

I had AZ vaccine on Saturday, period on Sunday. With a strong reaction to the vaccine and the usual heavy period, it was not a great few days. If you can choose, I suggest others not to have their vaccine appointment on their period's expected start.

Sorry to hear people had missed and late periods.

LividLiving · 19/04/2021 14:42

This has worried me.

I’m 40, first jab is Wednesday and I’ll be about 3dpo.

High risk job, and small baby, and trying for another with hardly any time left.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 19/04/2021 15:27

This is what I'm hoping for! I'm 50 and my periods have been horrible for a couple of years. I had AZ about a month ago and now haven't had a period for about 7 weeks and it is bliss... I'm hoping the vaccine has triggered me into the menopause, but equally I know that I'll probably be disappointed.
