Vaccinated heroes on Facebook

Peaceiseveryrhing · 14/03/2021 07:33

Why do those that have decided to have the vaccine feel the need to take to Facebook and document the fact?

They’ve had an injection, not saved a family of 5 from a burning building. I just don’t get it.

OP posts:

Facebook isn't for people who think for themselves. I wouldn't worry about it OP.

I'm not a regular Facebook user so no skin in this game but what a stupidly bizarre way to think. Choosing to sign up a SM platform doesn't take away one's ability to think for oneself but ironically you seem to be suffering from a lack of critical thinking if you really think your assertion is true

I haven't seen vaccine hero posts but it wouldn't offend me, it's a harmless sharing of something that the posters are obviously happy about.

And to re-assure any waverers they do not forcibly attach a sticker to you before you're allowed to go home.

Toilenstripes · 14/03/2021 11:58

I posted about my first one and will post about the second as well. You come across as an absolute misery guts.

activitythree · 14/03/2021 12:04

Facebook isn't for people who think for themselves.

Ah. This is a wee gem of a comment, isn't it?

Imagine trying to put people down for using Facebook based on their thinking ability, whilst display a huge lack of thinking ability Grin

Bless

Facebook isnt for people who automatically think the worst of other peoples motive, really nothing to be proud of

Donotfeedthebears · 14/03/2021 12:06

I think it’s a bit weird, along with people breaking down in tears of happiness having the vaccine. But if it makes them happy, great.

PinkBuffalo · 14/03/2021 12:06

I happy for my friends when they say on Facebook they been vaccinated so I think it is good especially as I bit worried about needles I know when it gets my turn knowing lots of people have had it might help me

I demand a sticker! (Suppose a lollipop’s out of the question ... Grin)

bruffin · 14/03/2021 12:08

My sticker was attached to my card

How is it any more weird than literally anything else that anyone shares about something they've done?

Been out for the day
Been out for a meal
Been to a party
Been on holiday
Been for my jab

Unless you think they are all weird what's the difference?

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 14/03/2021 12:10

People tend to use social media to share news, particularly good news, with friends and family. After the year we’ve all had getting the vaccine is pretty positive so why shouldn’t they share that good news? If it has the effect of encouraging others to get it then all the better but I don’t think that’s the main motivation for most.
Do you have objections when people share new of other things that have happened/made them happy? If so, social media may not be for you.

I actually did get emotional when my 90 year old Nanna got hers, like I said it was quite early on in the program so felt like a really significant event. It's not so much the vaccine itself that made me cry but thinking of the covid situation and how much we have had taken from us overall, yes, it was worthy of my tears.

Ah you put it much better than i did! Thank you
Sansaplans · 14/03/2021 12:13

Many people were encouraged to share that they had it, it can't be that many that it takes too much effort to scroll by/ignore.

QueenPaw · 14/03/2021 12:15

Because I've been shielding for a year and my friends have helped me through that. It was a giant wave of relief to go "I had my vaccine!"

Lubiluxe · 14/03/2021 12:15

I'm pleased people are doing it. Hopefully it helps the anti vaxxers do their part too. So selfish not to have it.

Fantastic, Queen 😃

MrsGradyOldLady · 14/03/2021 12:18

I agree with you OP. It's the same tossers who always post shite about how blessed they are and how much they love making memories too. I deleted my Facebook account a couple of weeks ago so am spared all the "well done Julie you're such a hero" comments.

AfternoonToffee · 14/03/2021 12:18

@pinkearedcow

Is it me or are the anti-vaxxers out in force this weekend?
Well that's a weird correlation to make, not sure why not liking what someone posts on Facebook makes them an anti-vaxxer. I just don't feel it is of much importance to share.
AfternoonToffee · 14/03/2021 12:20

I can understand why the CEV and the shielded would want to share. Me? Well not so much, mine is luck of the job I do.

Zig27 · 14/03/2021 12:26

They want validation and likes.

Wow, I don’t think I have seen any comments like that, more ‘lucky you, can’t wait for mine.’ Is this something you actually saw a lot of before you deleted FB or what you are assuming people were saying? (Nb I am not doubting you, I am just 😮 that anybody would respond like that.)
Donotfeedthebears · 14/03/2021 12:34

Rolling my eyes at vaccination posts and people sobbing with joy over getting a vaccination does not make me an anti vaxxer.

I’ll get my vaccine in a year or so once pregnancy and breastfeeding is done.

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/03/2021 12:35

I'll be posting mine when I get it - nothing to do with being a hero, it's not heroic. I'll be fucking delighted.

I've loved seeing my friends post that they've got theirs - a couple of clinically vulnerable friends had theirs last week and I'm so relieved for them.

Whocares2021 · 14/03/2021 12:35

@Donotfeedthebears you can have the vaccine while breastfeeding
