Side Effects Returned After 2 Weeks Post Astrazeneca

Lisalisaandcultjam · 13/03/2021 12:44

I had my first Astrazeneca 16 days ago and that night and for almost a week I felt nauseated, pain left side above hip, headache, fluish.
These faded away and I was left with a very swollen arm.
2 days ago we noticed my arm was still in a big lump but bruising and tracking red around the outside.
Yesterday I awoke with a headache and the back pain had returned.
Today my guts are off again and I feel sick, abdominal pains and feel generally chappy just as I did 2 weeks ago.
There is absolutely no way I've caught anything as we've been incredibly strict and clean everything we receive and we haven't been in contact with anyone at all.
I'm just curious if anyone else had noticed anything similar.

You should get tested. Even though you've been careful you could have still picked up covid somewhere.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 13/03/2021 14:40

Irregardless of whether it may or may not be connected to a vaccine, if you have swelling and red tracking anywhere you should always consult a GP. That, along with symptoms such as fever, headache and nausea could all point to eg cellulitis and need checking before they worsen.

ForensicFlossy · 13/03/2021 14:44

I was speaking to a friend last night who had az 2 weeks ago and her side effects have returned, apparently it is a recognized thing with this vaccine. Speak to your gp.

Donotfeedthebears · 13/03/2021 15:02

You need to report it: coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

ittakes2 · 13/03/2021 23:13

I think with red tracking and a swollen arm you should call 111.You could have an infection.

MRex · 14/03/2021 07:28

Talk to your GP, it sounds like it needs to be looked at.

Llh1979 · 14/03/2021 18:44

I've just commented to you on another post
I'm exactly the same but i didnt have any reaction in the beginning so thinking mine is a delayed reaction but everyone i speak to says it's not the vaccine and maybe a viral infection I'm in 2 minds as to ring the doctor or not
I a headache nausea off tummy aches and pains and sore hips

Watsername · 14/03/2021 18:47

I would get medical advice. The redness starting again concerns me - it could be infected. Get a pen and draw round the redness now. Then you can show the GP if it's changed.

I can’t believe how accepting so many people on this and other threads are of this vaccine and it’s side effects.

Do people not question or care about what is being injected into their bodies to create this kind of reaction. We’re all blindly accepting this. Why?

Nerdygirl · 14/03/2021 19:23

Exactly my thoughts @Dustyboots . Why is everyone so determined to refuse to discuss anything that goes against the government narrative . Those behavioural scientists sure done a good job

It doesn’t make people anti vax, covidiots, ignorant , scum or many of the other derogatory terms used . People want to make sure that the things they do and what they put in their bodies are safe. People also have been misled enough times with brexit, Iraq war and swine flu.

Dustyboots · 14/03/2021 19:32

This blind enthusiasm is really scaring me tbh.

I’ve been offered the vaccine and have been on the fence about it - but these threads have been a deciding factor for me.

It’s not even the vaccine reactions that worry me most. More so, it’s the reactions of posters to those vaccine reactions. If that makes sense ...

simbobs · 14/03/2021 19:35

It's because you are only hearing from those who have had problems, and they are not the majority. I have had it and experienced no ill effects, no even a sore arm.

Dustyboots · 14/03/2021 19:47

Knowing that ‘some’ have been fine doesn’t encourage me - but thank you.

Many have not been fine. That’s enough of a worry and the blind following this vaccine and it’s horrible effects is getting is a big concern too.

MRex · 14/03/2021 20:35

You must have been vaccinated for something in your life, or vaccinated a child, to have a clue how it works? All vaccines cause some reaction in a small proportion of people. So do all medications. A vaccine is literally having a direct impact on your immune system, so of course it affects your body - sometimes in ways you can feel and other times not. For baby vaccines everyone has the suggestion to give Calpol (paracetamol) for 24 hours to help with feeling crappy. Adults can take paracetamol for covid or any other vaccine too, pretty standard.

Hep A was the worst for me; fever, exhaustion and feeling really sick. Tetanus and I barely noticed the booster jab, but a friend had awful diarrhea and vomiting. The majority actually get no side effects from vaccines, a proportion get something for a day or two, and the proportion with more effects are really tiny. My family had toddlers die of measles in several generations and we all reacted badly to measles or MMR vaccine as toddlers, but "badly" as in fever and little spots for a day then nothing - rather than death. Take your pick. I prefer science to crossed fingers personally.

Lumene · 14/03/2021 21:39

OP I would call 111 and get it checked in case it is an infection or other concern.

Hope you feel better soon.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 14/03/2021 21:44

Could be an infection. I had a horrendous infection from a failed cannula. Definitely get checked out.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 14/03/2021 22:46

I’ve been offered the vaccine and have been on the fence about it - but these threads have been a deciding factor for me.

And sadly I suspect this is what many of these threads are designed to do Hmm

Dustyboots · 14/03/2021 22:53

And sadly I suspect this is what many of these threads are designed to do

People who question the vaccine are told they are conspiracy theorists - but this @GeorgeandHarold66 is the biggest conspiracy theory I've read on here so far.

What?

People that post threads about reactions to vaccines are trying to put people off!!! That's what I mean by the reactions of posters on MN (when discussing vaccine side effects) are the very things putting me off the vaccine.

So your post @GeorgeandHarold66 is what I'm talking about. It's you that's putting me off - because you represent the herd of people who are determined to shut down conversation and discussion. Any view point - based on actual experience even - that contradicts the way that you WANT things to be. Anything that might unnerve you shouldn't be here. Is that really what you believe?

murbblurb · 14/03/2021 22:56

Nobody is shutting down the discussion. Vaccines are not compulsory ( nor should they be), nothing is zero risk and as an allegedly competent adult you make your own decision.

Question is - are you more scared of covid?

fluffiphlox · 14/03/2021 22:57

I had AZ 9 days ago. A bit headachey for a few days. Fine now. This a terribly scaremongering type of post, wanting to sow doubt and mistrust.

LilyPond2 · 14/03/2021 23:13

Nasty comment. People are entitled to post about their own experiences good or bad and whether or not they are typical. If someone posted a comment about getting a bad reaction after eating nuts, would it be reasonable for me to accuse them of "scaremongering" about nuts on the grounds that I and most people can happily eat nuts with no ill effects?

Incogweeto · 15/03/2021 01:22

This is such a false comparison. If nuts were a new thing that had a tremendous health and societal benefit, and we were (understandably) only hearing from the people who had a reaction to nuts, it would be entirely fair for people to say 'Most people eat nuts and are fine' in order to balance the thread. Much like rare things make the news, rare reactions make the internet. People don't create posts that say 'I had the vaccine and nothing happened, I feel fine' 'Yeah me too, bit mundane really' etc. It's why you're more likely to find negative reviews online than positive ones, because it's only when things go wrong that people want to take some kind of action. If it goes fine, you crack on with life. And we know from DATA that most vaccines are going fine, most people are not having anything more than the mild reactions you'd expect from any vaccine. The vast majority.

It's not shutting down discussion to point that out. And I don't personally really care who gets the vaccine besides the people I love.

DenisetheMenace · 15/03/2021 01:26

Agree with others, the tracking sounds like an infection that probably needs antibiotics.
Call 111, they’ll direct you to the right place.

Charlesbakerharris · 15/03/2021 01:29

I had a reaction like that about 9 days after my initial Moderna shot (I’m in the US). Freaked me out a bit at first but was reassured it was likely to be a reaction to one of the ingredients rather than the vaccine itself. No delayed reaction after the second one, and am now free to socialise with other fully-vaccinated people with no masks or social distancing, so definitely worth it!

Indeed, had my jab today. No ill effects so far,10 hours later.
Not beyond my imagination though to understand that every individual will react, erm, individually.
If anyone is in doubt, call 111. We are blessed with a free at the point of delivery health service.
