Side Effects Returned After 2 Weeks Post Astrazeneca

Lisalisaandcultjam · 13/03/2021 12:44

I had my first Astrazeneca 16 days ago and that night and for almost a week I felt nauseated, pain left side above hip, headache, fluish.
These faded away and I was left with a very swollen arm.
2 days ago we noticed my arm was still in a big lump but bruising and tracking red around the outside.
Yesterday I awoke with a headache and the back pain had returned.
Today my guts are off again and I feel sick, abdominal pains and feel generally chappy just as I did 2 weeks ago.
There is absolutely no way I've caught anything as we've been incredibly strict and clean everything we receive and we haven't been in contact with anyone at all.
I'm just curious if anyone else had noticed anything similar.

I’m glad to find this thread op. I only had mine on Thursday but I had electric shock type pains in my limbs which caused my body to shake and spasm. These have now stopped. Dp said I was also doing this in my sleep.
Today was hoping to feel much better but I am very weak and if I eat I get the runs. I have now started itching all over my scalp and torso.🙁

salmonskinjerky · 21/03/2021 21:42

I'm worried by these side effects. They sound really odd.

MRex · 21/03/2021 21:48

@BigButtons - call 111 asap please, itching sounds like some kind of allergic reaction and best to talk with a medical professional.

Llh1979 · 21/03/2021 21:56

@BigButtons I would call 111 for advice as that sounds more of an allergic reaction
Hope it passes soon

I had the AZ vaccine 5 weeks ago and since then have had achey limbs and random pains in my body. Never suffered with anything like this before. I accepted the vaccine as I didn’t see any problem and I thought I was doing the right thing. I can’t find anything else online about such an adverse reaction, which is even more concerning. Really in two minds as to whether I want the second dose.

MRex · 28/03/2021 09:06

@Londoner84 - you should see a GP. Aches for a day or two is not uncommon but at 5 weeks you really should consider if you have some other issue entirely unrelated to the vaccine that needs assesment.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 28/03/2021 09:27

Draw a line round the area of redness.

If it really is growing, then you need to see a doctor as a matter of some urgency

It really does sound infected, so I think you should ring 111 for advice now, as they may well say you need to go to OOH today.

And yes, even that long out from the jab you should yellow card it.

I know a couple of people had this after their vaccinations and blood tests showed they had very low vitamin D levels. I think it’s worth going to the GP.

Shocking. I've just heard of someone getting pregnant the day after having a vaccine. Are they telling people of this side effect? Maybe condoms should be dished out as you leave. Similarly I know someone who broke their toe literally hours after having the vaccine. They really ought to add broken big toe as a side effect.........

FlyLight · 28/03/2021 10:03

Yeah I'm sure all these side effects are purely coincidental Max Hmm

Are people not allowed to talk about side effects of a brand new vaccine then? Cos I'd imagine it's actually pretty important for people to be aware that these are happening. This narrative that anyone who mentions side effects is some sort of anti vax nutter is really worrying

Roonerspismed · 28/03/2021 10:09

My mum was vaccinated five weeks ago and is still struggling. I have yellow carded it and suggest you do too. We need the data,
especially as regards women

Dittometoo · 28/03/2021 10:11

@Londoner84

Have a look at this subreddit and search a term related to the symptoms you've been having. Plenty of people have been reporting odd symptoms;

Why is it funny to make a joke of people who are concerned about their health?
Redact · 28/03/2021 11:03

That's interesting to hear that symptoms can flare up again after a couple of weeks of getting the az vaccine. I had it just over 2 weeks ago and felt fatigued, very sore arm and shoulder which felt like I'd fell on it/banged it against a wall. After 5 days I felt completely fine but over the past 3 days I have felt very tired and sore after my daily run, legs and hips are painful but I'm feeling it in the bones as well as the joints. It seems to start immediately. I'm still continuing to run daily although I'm really feeling the pain in my legs and hips and keeping to shorter routes.

MaxRiemelt · 28/03/2021 11:29

Take a sample of 1000 people. Give them a placebo. Many will get "side effects". Health anxiety is a big problem.

FlyLight · 28/03/2021 12:06

Every single person I know who has had the AZ has felt absolutely shocking afterwards with symptoms ranging from chills, high temp, being sick, diarrhea, headaches and general pain in the body. I mean they could all have health anxiety I suppose Hmm

MaxRiemelt · 28/03/2021 12:29

Grin just pointing out that people going on about side effects weeks after having a vaccine are unlikely to be having issues caused by a vaccine.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 28/03/2021 12:36

Of course they are, and that's what the Yellow Card scheme is for, and people are being positively encouraged to use it

coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

But redness which looks like it's tracking is not a side effect of the contents of the jab, it's a sign of infection, and infection can also make you feel generally unwell. You could get infection at the site of the jab following any procedure that breaks the skin, but it's not common.

OP may well need antibiotics, and if it is indeed tracking then thus could be quite urgent. 111 will advise

This post is totally irresponsible. If you don't like to see people discussing side effects then go elsewhere. Rubbish like this will only reinforce the belief that there is something to hide.
Londoner84 · 28/03/2021 19:30

Yes much the same as me - bone aches

Londoner84 · 28/03/2021 19:41

Very true. Psychosomatic symptoms can be very strong.

Dowser · 28/03/2021 20:43

@Dustyboots

Knowing that ‘some’ have been fine doesn’t encourage me - but thank you.

Many have not been fine. That’s enough of a worry and the blind following this vaccine and it’s horrible effects is getting is a big concern too.

The vaccines are on trial till 2023

Friend couldn’t wait to have it after her dad was hospitalised with covid The day after the AZ vax she had stabbing pains to her heart She honestly thought she was having a heart attack She was a whisker away from calling the ambulance. She felt really poorly for 4/5 days
BigButtons · 28/03/2021 20:52

At work only 2 of us have had very bad reactions to AZ. Everyone else has been fine. Doesn’t seem fair.

Immune systems generally aren't fair, nor predictable. It's a real shame you weren't well, how do you feel now? I heard of friends of friends who felt bad for a few days, plus some posters here, but everyone I know personally has been fine too. Did you have covid before as that seems to be the most common reason for getting worse side effects?
